  1. Brady Vail is joining the Dogs on an ATO per the Windsor Star
  2. Because holding someone's rights indefinitely just because you drafted them would be a violation of anti-trust laws and labour laws. 4 years post draft every player (not just NCAA players, but CHL players too), get to become free agents. The only exception is Russians, but because they aren't covered by labour laws, the NHL is able to get away with it.
  3. If he was Marty St. Louis, and 26 years old, he'd be getting 7 million a season, not 3.5
  4. None are guaranteed. Habs would like to sign Nygren, Kristo. On the Bubble Pribyl, Walsh, Archambault Won't sign Klubertanz
  5. Top College Free Agents to Watch My 7 best available NCAA free agents who could/should sign with NHL teams once their teams are eliminated. http://lastwordonsports.com/2013/03/17/top-college-free-agents-to-watch/
  6. Great first game for him. Even better than I thought he would be.
  7. Pominville is 6'0" Who said he was small? That said, I'm not crazy about his contract.
  8. Vail is outstanding defensively. Probably the reason he's been put on D when the injuries hit
  9. Second Line was supposed to be Blunden - Nokelainen - Leblanc Until Blunden got recalled. I was having bad flashbacks to last year and Habs third/fourth lines
  10. Yes, those are the faceoffs that matter. But still with a difference of 4-6% between the best teams and the worst teams at faceoffs, we are talking a difference of winning one extra PK/PP faceoff instead of losing it per game. Its near irrelevant, hence why there is no correlation between being a good faceoff team and a winning team. Why do you think Yanic Perreault never took late game defensive zone faceoffs, event though he was the best faceoff guy in the league when we had him. Cause even if he won 55% of draws, that still means he loses 9 out of every 20 draws, and he was useless defensively when he lost a draw. Most important is how you play the game after losing the draw, and how quickly your 5 man defensive unit is able to get puck possession back.
  11. Dubinsky gets 4.2 million... for the same length of time as Erik Cole. He's not as good as Cole. We moved Cole to save his contract, to free up space for next year. I can't see grabbing Dubi for those reasons. Boll is a punching bag.
  12. Playoffs only LA was 49.7% in faceoffs last year The Cup winner who shall not be named... 52% in the 2011 playoffs Chicago 50.8 Penguins 48.4 Detroit 54.6 Ducks 50.6 Canes 51.2 Bolts 48.7 Devils 47% Wings 52 So of the last 10 Cup winners, 4 were under 50% Look at the best teams in the NHL standings and where they rank in faceoffs.... there is 0 correlation between winning faceoffs and winning games. The difference is so minimal in the percentages as to cancel out as white noise.
  13. The difference between the top faceoff team in the league and us is a whole 4 faceoff wins per game. And that is as a team. Pleks percentage means he is losing 1 more faceoff per game than a top guy. Faceoff percentage is one of the most overrated stats in hockey IMO.
  14. Lavoie says he's out 2 weeks anyway.
  15. Minnesota just passed Vancouver for first in their division. I'm not sure Cullen is available, though I agree he would be a good pickup. I'd approach Dominic Moore. See if the guy is ready to move on with his life. He would be a good pickup for a similar role.
  16. Dumont really didn't do anything special. And he's just too small to fit in this lineup. With Desharnais, Gallagher, and Gionta already in our top 9, and Boullion on defence. I just don't see how we fit Dumont in as well.
  17. Possible, but Gill also went to the Stanley Cup Final playing for Therrien, so if he still said that after such a season, the current standings may not change his opinion.
  18. Clowe will soon be a UFA. Clowe has 0 (zero) NADA, ZILCH, NONE, goals this season. I wouldn't trade Louis Leblanc straight up for Clowe, never mind the rest..... they can have a third rounder for the guy with 0 goals.
  19. In a summer interview with Dave Stubbs. Gill was asked how he felt about the Habs hiring Therrien. He said something like.... well, that's one team to scratch off my list of free agent destinations.
  20. Kristo is 5'11" He's not tiny like Gallagher. For perspective.... Pacioretty is two inches taller than Kristo. Kristo is three inches taller than Gallagher.
  21. If Colorado doesn't qualify him, he's UFA
  22. 1 Minnesota is not making that trade. 2) Hal Gill has already said he won't play for Therrien
  23. Isles aren't going 0-48 Habs aren't going 44-4-4 We will lose games over the course of a season, and they will win games. The object is to win more than we lose, and with an 11 game point streak before last night, the team is doing a damn good job of that.
  24. Saturday night price played like shit. Tonight, not so much.... Defence really let him down. 1st goal.... wide open for the one time shot. 2nd goal... only one Price could have had, and still not an easy shot. 3rd goal... weird bounce, wide open Islander, back of the net before he knows what happened. 4th goal... Bouillion tips it in 5th goal... tavares wide open onetimer at the top of the crease. 6th goal... empty net. Really only one goal did he have a chance on.
