  1. Whats more valuable? 15-18 minutes per game as a LW in the NHL, a faster league and playing a rougher style. or 25 minutes at Centre in the OHL, where he will dominate? If he's ready for 15-18 minutes, i keep him up ala Tyler Seguin. The big question is if he's ready seeing as he missed a year.
  2. Hitting the wall is about endurance. How did that improve with a year off?
  3. I don't buy many of the arguments about rushing guys. The only way you can rush a guy is 1) he's not physically mature enough, muscular enough, to handle the pounding and gets injured. 2) he's not getting enough minutes to develop his game. As long as the kid is physically ready, and is contributing to the team and gets meaningful minutes... leave him up. You can't mentally wreck a kid, I don't buy that for a second. - no matter when you call a kid up, he's gonna have good stretches and bad stretches... if mentally he falls apart after a bad stretch at 19, he's gonna fall apart after a bad stretch at 25, all you are doing is delaying the inevitable. A mentally strong person will overcome the challenge, a mentally weak one won't but would have fallen apart later if you shelter them anyways. Look at MaxPac... was he ruinned by playing third line minutes and not producing? No, he was mentally strong, went back to the AHL, figured out what he needed to learn, came back up and is awesome today. We didn't ruin him, we didn't hold him back. I'd say the same about Price losing his job to Halak, we didn't ruin him by bringing him up too soon.... he's fine.
  4. http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=636054 The players who received qualifying offers from the team include defensemen P.K. Subban, Raphael Diaz, Alexei Emelin, Brendon Nash and Frederic St-Denis as well as forwards Lars Eller, Ryan White, Aaron Palushaj, Blake Geoffrion and Andreas Engqvist.
  5. Leaf fans believe they have already signed Schultz because him and Gardiner are twitter buddies or so the story goes.
  6. Someone photoshopped our 1st round draft pick for me.
  7. Dale Tallon n'est pas fou.
  8. I'll be doing a scouting report on him for tomorrow. But he's the real deal IMO. Could step into the NHL immediately. Outperformed Jake Gardiner at Wisconsin.
  9. Tambellini is a puppet. Kevin Lowe is a buffoon.
  10. Head of Central Scouting gives us an A+ on draft. http://www.habsworld.net/out.php?15178
  11. Didn't like the trade when it happened; but they made up with it in the later picks, so they didn't earn a loser award. Moroz really surprised me, i thought finn, thrower or bystrom would be the guy there. If they wanted a bigger forward, why not Kerdiles? or Lukas Sutter if they wanted the toughness? I ranked him in the third round... so we don't know.... he's got a chance to make the grade, but is still a long shot. Even 3rd rounders are like less than 10% chance to play 100 NHL games based on recent history... I think he's great value where we got him though. Yup, too old. Need to be born January 1st or later. =-========================= http://www.bluejacke...heir-picks.html If true, and Portzline is a good reporter. Garth Snow is a moron for offering this package. Scott Howson is the bigger moron for turning it down. Fire them both. If True, Columbus is the big loser this weekend... the giant loser.
  12. Aaron Portzline reports Luongo will not waive NTC for Chicago or Toronto Only place he'll go is Florida.
  13. He pays him less on a buyout than Hamilton Hamilton he gets 10 million over the next two years (5.5 and 4.5) Buyout he gets 6.67 million total over the next four years (1.67 per year)
  14. NHL Draft Weekend Winners and Losers http://lastwordonsports.com/2012/06/25/nhl-draft-weekend-winners-and-losers/
  15. Palushaj is gonna be qualified. There is no way they just let an asset walk for no reason when his Q.O. is so small.
  16. Soon to be unrestricted free agent Bryan Allen.
  17. Tim Thomas? He's prepping his apocalyptic safehouse in Colorado next year.
  18. I don't think he'll be ready. But with his Gym Rat nature.... he just might be.
  19. I'd go Diaz and St. Denis and try to move Weber. I wonder if some team would give us a goalie prospect for him.
  20. Less defensive responsibility, less pressure to start on the wing while he's learning. It worked for Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, Claude Giroux, and numerous others when they first came into the NHL.
  21. Nothing wrong with having a 40 assist, 45 point dman on your third pair. Just stick Emelin beside him to lay out the hits. Allen - Subban Markov - Gorges Do the heavy lifting.
  22. I think Galchenyuk (if he makes the team), might get the Tyler Seguin treatment. One year at LW with Pleks... and then when he's ready, switch him with DD. Move DD to LW.
  23. Dallas also had 6 guys who we did full profiles on (5 full ranks plus 1 honourable mention). So they get second only cause montreal has both Galchenyuk and Collberg ahead of Faksa, and 4 guys in my top 35.
  24. Just going back through our lists, and putting in what team drafted each guy. I gotta say Dallas is #2 in my ranks of best drafts.
  25. I had every pick except Nystrom in my top 65 This is such a great draft. Here they all are. http://lastwordonspo...lex-galchenyuk/ http://lastwordonspo...stian-collberg/ http://lastwordonspo...dalton-thrower/ http://lastwordonspo...e-35-tim-bozon/ http://lastwordonspo...-51-brady-vail/ http://lastwordonspo...-charles-hudon/
