Going for Five! Flyers @ Bell Centre: 7PM

Nathan Beaulieu, only 8:25 TOI. Thats not sustainable. Either MT starts rotating a man out or he has to go back to Hamilton till an injury pops up. -

I think the team is starting to find its grove. Satuday night on home ice, I at very least expect a strong effort and competitive game. Despite the small sample size Eller may be starting to prove doubters wrong with more goals than Gallagher, Desharnais and Parenteau so far -
Minnesota @ Montreal: 7PM EST (TVA, CityTV)

I think he could be considered if he helps bring a cup to Montreal. I feel like that should almost be a minimum requirement. -
Good point the Hawks are going to be hungry and the Habs better be hungry too. Should make for a really good game. At this point in the season the way they come out and play on Tuesday is almost more important than getting the 2 points.

The improvements I've noticed in PK haven't really been on the point production side but rather in the smaller details of his game that have made him better defensively and more well rounded. IMHO he may have learned more from playing with Markov than he has from MT. The improvements and changes I've seen from PK are more along the lines of the small and smart plays that are surprisingly effective and that Markov is know for.
-
I would say that PK and Chucky have both significantly improved under MT but I cant say for sure weather or not MT had a hand in that significant improvement. On another not, I must admit that I havent had the chance to watch all the games but from what I did see Secak looked good when I saw him play, not sure why he ever came out.

I forgot to mention Jeff Carter 50 points in 72 games
-
Just for comparison, 2013-13 regular season Kopitar 70 points in 82 games Toews 68 points in 76 games Spezza 66 points in 75 games I know there is the argument of putting up points year after year but imho if Plek gets close to the 70 point plateau this season he is a number 1 C in my books but just not a top 15.
-
I could definitely see Plek surpassing his career high 70 pts with Galchenyuk on his wing and Malhotra taking off some of the defensive responsibilities.

I was surprised MT didn't play Weise against the Bruins just to send the message that he was not intimidated by Lucic
-
Chucky with the sneeker play out of the box! Kid is So good this year
-
Great play by Eller to drive the net and draw the penalty
-
I liking the Plec / Chucky line
-
bad pinch by PK but the boys should get it back with the avs third stringer in net

Pretty scathing review. There must be some reason they used a 1st on him, Timmins isnt stupid. -
Lars Eller re-signs, 4 years, $3.5M per year
sim.on replied to Machine of Loving Grace's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
This may not be the best deal but it sure isn't a terrible one either. I think that there is a better chance that he DOES live up to the contract then he doesn't. When looking at some comparables, it could be considered a bad deal compared to Zucarello, Desharnais, Turis, Palat and Tyler Johnson who all got similar deals and who have all put up at least 50 points in a season. The deal is also similar to comparables such as Stoll, Berglund and Josh Baily, none of whome recorded 50 points last season (Baily had most with 38). If Eller scores between 25 and 35 points next season it will be along the lines of the latter 3 players I mentioned so you can't say the deal is horrible, especially with the cap moving up (ie. Kane / Teows) On the other hand, I would not be supprised to see Eller hit 50 points next season and I would be shocked if he didn't do it at least once over the course on the deal. I have a hard time imagining Eller having a less productive season this year than he did last so even if he does not improve, its not the end of the world. If he scores at a pace of the lockout shortened season (30 pts in 46 games) that would give him 53 points in a full season and he would be on par with the first group of comparables I mentioned. Don't forget that Lars had the best faceoff percentage on the team. If Eller is the 40-55 point player that I think he will be this deal will be a steal in the latter years of the contract. If he has hit his plateau, then it's not great but not terrible either. As fans we do not have access to a lot of the information GMs do and if MB says he is a character guy who works hard then that's good enough for me. -
Just the man I wanted .

Bleakley gone to Colorado. I would have been happy if he ended up a hab, still some nice picks out there though.
