  1. I couldn't disagree more. Faceoffs could be the biggest part of the game, because it is one of the few things you can actually control. Faceoff wins are what gives a team initial possession of the puck. This allows a team to continue offensive pressure or to relieve that pressure in the defensive zone. This should go without saying, but Without possession of the puck there s no option to score, without scoring you can never win (and rarely tie). I realize turnovers can make it possible to regain control of the play, but it is something that has to be forced. A forced mistake/turnover cannot be counted on to make plays when they are not a guarantee and therfore cannot become part of a game plan. A faceoff win is well within control, and this not stressed enough through the grass roots system in Canada.
  2. And Frolov was also a minus player with 71 points. Plex only scored 4 less points from the perimeter just like Frolov does.... and both are 2 years removed from their best seasons. :puke:
  3. It is impossible for those guys to play together and have such drastically different +/- stats.
  4. Also, Not a rumor though. Mac Bennett interview questions Have fun with it
  5. I have been getting a few emails and pm's asking for more interviews this summer, so I'll be looking into more possibilities as we go. Mac has been kind enough to take the time out of his schedule, for an interview with HabsWorld. As usual, I like the fans to have a say in the questioning so you get the answers to questions you have about the specific player. Here's your chance and ask away. You can post here, or you can Email your questions here: m.godbout@habsworld.net The interview will likely be done this Friday, so send in the questions asap. For those of you unfamiliar with Mac, here is some info. and a quick youtube . • He will attend the University of Michigan in the fall of 2010. • His dad, Jim, is a former Brown University All-Ivy League selection and was drafted by the Atlanta Flames in the eighth round (133rd overall) of the 1977 draft. • His grandfather is former Boston goaltender Harvey Bennett (1944-45) and his uncles, Curt and Harvey Bennett Jr. both played in the NHL. Curt was drafted in the second round (16th overall) by the Atlanta Flames in the 1968 draft, recording 334 points (152-182-334) in 580 NHL games. Harvey Jr. played 268 NHL games (44-46-90) with five different teams (Pittsburgh, Washington, Philadelphia, Minnesota and St. Louis).
  6. I agree. Why not hire him as a specialist coach. Maybe help on the PP stategy? (and obviously help on face offs.)
  7. Are we talking about the same guy? A guy with a career high of 71 points while still being a minus player.... 2 years ago? Sounds like a Plex comparison, not a player that's better than anyone on our roster.
  8. I don't think you'll find anyone here that thinks a D'Agostini and Metro for Cheechoo trade as a bad idea. The problem lies in adding key players like Andrei or Sergei to the mix. I'm not sure how many times you have seen Sergei play in person, but he has a vision and on ice instinct that you can't teach. The rest will follow as long as he can translate those skills into the NHL.
  9. I figured as much anyway. It's the Subban compilation that is on Habs I/O right now.
  10. Either option is trash... so trash + trash ='s .... Trash
  11. I wasn't so much picking your comments out to disagree with, it was more for the short sighted fans that would trade 2 potential stars + for a guy like Cheechoo or Frolov.
  12. I'm kidding... it just looked like a good opening to pester you a bit. I too go to movies alone when I can as well. there's nothing wrong with that. I hate people talking or asking questions, and I think that is the main reason I like going alone.
  13. He has only played 2 full seasons now and I think everyone here can agree that last year was anything but a developmental year for any Canadien let alone the BS with the Mob (that the media overcooked) etc etc Players from Russia/Belarus take a bit of time. They have language barriers to hurdle, a different style game, and a smaller ice surface to adapt to. The mighty Frolov that everyone here wants so badly scored less than Kostitsyn (without the same distractions and linemates) in his first 2 seasons and didn't become a consistent threat until his 3rd and 4th seasons. This will be Andrei's 3rd season... he'll be fine. Patience people, 95% of the players don't tear up the NHL despite their draft position until they develop and learn...... the other 5% are named Gretzky, Crosby, Lemieux, Orr, Ovechkin, Beliveau etc
  14. Jesus man ... I didn't realize you were a loner. Did you torture animals as a child as well? Just checking, I like to keep "those" people happier
  15. I would think Hamilton would be last on the list of 3 but something like that yes.
  16. I agree..... but we need to be the Flyers at some point too
  17. That's way over generalizing and unfortunately that is the major flaw of mock scouting. I don't think anyone here has said D'agostini, O'Byrne or Stewie are anything but depth or role players... the value here is Andrei and to a lesser more long shot extent is Sergei. A. Kost is about to show us one of two things. A) he will break out and become the explosive scoring machine he shows flashes of being or B) he shows the exact same thing we have seen for his first few years.... a streaky scorer that can score in bunches. The Latter sounds like Frolov only he has played with better scorers then A. Kost has. Frolov has played in 455 NHL games, A Kost 186 games. Frolov's first two years he played 156 games scoring 79 points. A Kost played 152 games in his first 2 full NHL seasons scoring 94 points. Who's the enigma? This is an apples for Apples type of trade with some Oranges thrown in just for kicks. Let's not forget Sergei could become a star on his own. Too much.... waaaay too much
  18. A deal like this would be an extremely terrible deal. Trading guys making next to nothing for more salary and another enigma russian player? This smells of the Gomez deal all over again. Remember how pissed everyone was with that trade at the start (until we saw Gainey was able to add all the other guys because of Gomez).
  19. That's actually one of the reasons I like Price more now It wasn't the worst, but it was bad and excruciatingly slow.
  20. Should be looking to dump him, but it won't happen.
