  1. http://www.facebook.com/canadiens.de.montreal?ref=nf Weird but defensible. I'd gladly take both back against a team on freefall.
  2. I dont understand the logic behind Gomez in SO. He's a poor scorer. Is he a highlight reel machine in practice or something? The Kulemin SO goal Halak should have stopped. And Martin shouldnt have sent Gomez out there. Anyway. Another point, now tied with Ottawa with a game in hand.
  3. Shootout. I'd go with... Gionta AK46 Plex.
  4. ... See what happens when you dont even have any dangerous attack on the PP? You give the other team a confidence boost.
  5. That was a perfect shot, quick release, opposite side of the goalie's movement, top corner. The kind AK46 could be doing on a consistent basis... Hammer is way too slow to play on the PP. I can't wait for MAB to come back and make our PP dangerous again.
  6. Uh... Can't we at least try Sergei Kostitsyn on the PP in place of Gorges or Hamrlik? You know, someone with offensive abilities?!
  7. BS goal. Kulemin hammered Halak in the head with this stick!
  8. "big" or "small" is, to some degree, not only a matter of height but also of weight (if you consider it to be mostly muscle) and of built. You got some shorter but thicker guys who "plays bigger" than some tall but gangly guys. Some of the game's best powerforwards werent very tall, but were thick and strong. Tkachuk is just 6-2 but weights over 230 lbs. Owen Nolan was only 6-1 but played at around 220 lbs. Same with Shane Doan. Dustin Brown is 6-0, Brendan Morrow 5-11. Jonathan Toews is considered to be a prototypical big center and he's "just" 6-2 205. On the other end, you've got mammoths like Hal Gill at 6-7 and 250 lbs that never overpower anyone and only go by on their long reach.
  9. Just to clarify some things: GMs rarely have any say in drafting except for the first round, sometime the 2nd. GMs usually trust their head scout and regional scouts to make the best picks. GMs simply dont have time during the season to watch 600 prospects...
  10. I hope you mean "big" as in "somewhat fat". Metro is 5-10, 195!
  11. This is the type of game the Habs would probably have lost a couple months ago. The solidification of the 3rd and 4th lines makes a big difference. O'Byrne emerging as a good partner to Markov, which sends Gorges back to the 3rd pair where he belongs also stabilizes our D. Gotta say we're also blessed by our closest competitors being on neutral. I just hope AK46 can get his head out of his ass sooner rather than later.
  12. Maxwell was called back up. Safety mesure in case Plex cant play? Once Cammy returns, Pyatt will probably end up on the bus back to Hamilton (is he on the clear day roster?) Then Bergeron comes back and we start wondering who to scratch; because our PP has been absolutely horrible without MAB.
  13. No easy choice. Buffalo seems to be the easiest overall roster, until you run into Ryan Miller. I think I'd go with Washington. Their D is probably the kind we'd match-up best against. That being said, on paper, we match up to any of those teams, and they all match-up to each other. We might not have one of those big gun like Ovie, Crosby, Kovalchuk or Malkin, but we possibly have the most balanced top 2 lines and scoring depth. Pouliot-Gomez-Gionta and Cammalleri-Plekanec-Kostitsyn can both be a handful. If the depth lines can keep causing trouble and abuse the opponent's 3rd D pair, I like our chances.
  14. Desharnais injured? BTW dlbalr, Wyman was a part-time C when we drafted him. So yeah, he'll take faceoffs.
  15. It was clear that Dago wasnt going anywhere in Montreal with Martin. Palushaj will report to Hamilton where Boucher can --hopefully-- do the same work on him he did on Trotter.
  16. As if picking 23 guys from the immense Canadian talent pool required some special, genius skills...
  17. Jasey-Jay Anderson wins Gold!!! So happy for him. At 35 yrs old, it's probably his last Olympics!
  18. HQ version of the 500m race: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD27S1Ec9mI Check the replay at about 1:00. Ono places his hand on Tremblay's hip in the turn, so Tremblay is unable to make his turn as sharp as necessary. It's a clear impeding DQ. Not as obvious as pushing or blocking, but enough to cause an impediment to Tremblay who found himself deported to the outside because he couldnt turn because of Ono's hand. It a sort of sideways blocking. Hamelin never touched the Korean. Look closely coming out of the turn, the Korean's hits himself behind the right (outside) leg with his left (inside) skate and he lost his balance afterwards. It's actually the Korean's left hand that touches Hamelin's skate and almost trips Hamelin near the finish line.
  19. Where can she train? The Alps? You know she probably tried for speed skating first, right?
  20. Wow... what a finish to that game! I'm still shaking. What a save by Luongo. Just unreal. Slovakia deserves tons of credit. I hope they beat the Finns. Now we got the big rivalry Gold Medal game that's gonna make history.
  21. Grrr. Everwhere I look and listen, I keep hearing about the Canada-USA rematch as if it was a guaranteed. I had plenty of sympathy for the Slovaks to begin with, now I've got even more. I'm secretly dreaming Slovakia beats Canada and the USA just to teach both countries a lesson. But hey, Canada-USA rematch, for the Gold. Can't really write such a good script. Almost impossible in such a tournament to have history between two teams and Canada-USA have some.
  22. Anyone else has a kind of soft spot for Slovakia? Beat Russia and Sweden, two huge favorites. I'm gonna have a hard time cheering against them vs Canada because Slovakia deserves a medal. But I also want the big Canada-USA revenge showdown.
  23. Not getting my panties in a bunch. This is the same Russian team that got beaten 2-1 by Slovakia
  24. Heatley is ok, but Marleau and Thornton are notorious for not getting the job done when it matters. I'm not buying into the Miller praise. A lot of shots were on him, and aside from the Crosby and Staal lines there's not much going on offensively for Canada. And Morrow. Yeah, nice player to have on an NHL... but what an horrible selection when it means leaving a dozen guys who could have single-handedly change the game with one shift. I also dont get the benching of Patrice Bergeron. Especially when Getzlaf decided to not show up. And Corry Perry got schooled by Kesler. What the Hell is Corry Freaking Perry doing on the ice with the goalie pulled and the game on the line! But hey, this is Team Western Conference, so no wonder...
  25. Canada again struggling to score goals. Can't tell me they couldnt have used skilled game-breakers/pressure players like Green, St-Louis, Stamkos, Richards, Lecavalier, Carter, etc. instead of glorified grinders & notorious chokers like Morrow, Marleau, Perry, Thornton. Again, Team Canada putting too much stock in size over talent is killing them.
