  1. Then there's a problem with the Habs having too many Cs, if one isn't moved. I don't think Lang will end up in Montreal, especially is Gainey isn't able to unload one of the other Habs centers...Koivu, Ribeiro, Bonk, Plekanec. I don't believe any of them will be moved.
  2. If you don't like what's on TV or in the movies not, don't watch it. Buy the DVDs for the programs of yore that you yearn for. If I find something offensive, I don't watch it. It's called self control. It's called screening programs for you children. If there's too much violence and sex for you, go back to Ozzie and Harriet, go watch PAX, just don't blame the decline of society over something you have control over. Don't like it, turn it off. Don't like the society you're in, move. I'm sick of everyone trying to pawn their troubles off on other sources. In the days of this litigous society, lets sue whoever has wronged us. McDonalds made me fat, CBS showed a boob during the Super Bowl, hot coffee burned me, Schwinn didn't make a comfortable bike for me, so I'll sue them too. Take responsibility for your own damn actions. ###### I'm sick of whining. Everyone has some power, quit sitting on your hands and take action for what you believe in (or don't believe in) instead of spouting off here about it. Wow, I didn't realize we started censoring curse words here... the ###### equates to For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. Figure it out...
  3. Careful, there are those here that rue the day Hainsey and his amazing talents left town for Columbus. You'd think he was Paul Coffey or something...
  4. And ya know we're going to ask where you heard this!
  5. Spacek goes to the Sabres. Terms of the deal haven't been disclosed yet. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=170576&hubname=nhl
  6. Doubleshift Ryder? Haha...I know you meant Kovalev!
  7. D'oh...typo on my part actually, I meant conference (not division), as usually it seems "big name" trades tend to cross conference lines.
  8. What is RIS? I've never heard of it until this summer.
  9. Finally, the full deal: Joffrey Lupul, top prospect Ladislav Smid, Anaheim's first-round choice in 2007, a conditional first-round pick and Anaheim's second-round pick in 2008 to the Oilers in exchange for Pronger.
  10. The TSN article now says Lupul is the roster player included in the deal. Edit: Sportsnet sources say the Edmonton Oilers will receive forward Joffrey Lupul, prospect Ladislav Smid and a conditional draft pick in exchange for the defenceman. The conditional pick in the deal is based on next season's regular-season or playoff results.
  11. Not necessarily the Habs news we've all been looking for. Tis a shame to see Andre go, but the Habs still have good personnel in the scouting department. I'm curious if there was a difference in opinion between the new regime and Gainey, as it seems their style of players are quite different from one another.
  12. I thought the same thing. I was also rather surprised that the Oilers traded him to a team within their division.
  13. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=170400&hubname=nhl The Anaheim Ducks have traded right winger Joffrey Lupul, one non-roster player and several conditional high-end draft picks to the Oilers in exchange for Pronger.
  14. It's not like the other NE teams have signed everyone: the Bruins got Savard/Chara, but they still lack decent depth there. The Sens got Gerber, no big deal, and lost Chara. The Sabres have done nothing except lose a player or two. The Leafs got Kubina, a decent dman, and Hal Gill, a slow defensive dman. Boy, teams other than the Habs sign a couple of players and I can almost hear rumblings of "#1 pick overall next year". It's like this during every offseason for the Habs, you'd think people would be used to it by now. The Habs haven't been big free agent spenders, regardless of who has been GM.
  15. There's still hope for trades, and it's not like last year's Habs team was horrid. With a strong full season of netminding, another year of experience for some of the youngsters, and a couple of other promising first rounders pressing for full time duty, I think it'll be a good season. Would I have liked a top tier UFA to join the Habs? Sure, but other than to have something to talk about that is Habs related, to me, it's not that big of a deal that Gainey and company have been unable to lure some players to Montreal. Let the Habs get stronger from within...they're getting close.
  16. Scratch another from the Habs shopping list. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=170315&hubname=nhl
  17. On TSN now, too. If you ask me $1.875M over 3 years is a lot of money for Bouillon. Oh well, I was indifferent to Bouillon's return, and now I just hope he can produce given the $$ he's making.
  18. Well, for both...Chara will have the pressure of being the highest paid dman and get labeled with the bust category. But like you said, I don't think that would bother him too much. For the team paying him, however...
  19. For Chara's sake, I hope he doesn't go for the max. He's a good defenseman, but another I find that is overrated.
  20. TV on the Radio was the first opener when I saw NIN at the end of May. The band sounded pretty good, actually.
  21. The music thread! "Live Week" is me next week...although definitely not as "alternative" as some of you young pups here, I'm going to see Tom Petty/Pearl Jam on Monday, Blues Traveler/Johnny Lang on Tuesday, and Counting Crows/Goo Goo Dolls on Wednesday. Should make for a fun three days! I went to see Live and NIN last month, live shows ROCK!!!
  22. At least his attitude sounds right. It'll be interesting to see if he can get his body to follow his mind. To me, it sounds like he's had quite the reality check, we'll just have to see if it's only lip service!
  23. The difference being there is a cap on player salaries as well, so players like Crosby/Staal/etc that are/will be RFAs in the future, I could very easily see their current teams match a league maximum offer.
  24. Damn, Bouillon is ok, but this place overrates him something fierce. If he walks out on the Habs it's not the end of the world.
