  1. quote Shortcat, you disappoint me. As a member of this forum, you have a responsibility, no - an obligation, to mindlessly cheer the Habs every move, whilst refraining from admiration of any and all opposing players and/or teams. End Quote I think this may have been in jest but if not then I disagree with this statement wholeheartedly. While we all the love the Habs, I hope were all a fans of Canadian hockey and enjoy seeing other Canadian teams or players doing well, unless of course, its at the expense of our beloved Habs. We should be happy when Calgary, Ottawa, Vancouver, Edmonton and to a lesser extent Toronto have success around the league. Better the Stanley Cup come here then somewhere in the US. There is nothing wrong with wishing the other teams well, and if Montreal can't make the finals then I will gladly cheer on the next Calgary, or if it may be Ottawa. I have to admit it wouldbe hard to cheer for Toronto.
  2. Quote How about your phrasing ''you gotta love the guy'',.. are you a Don Cherry fan ? End Quote Nothing wrong with being a Don Cherry fan is there? Other than he might be a little LEafs biased
  3. Yes, Hossa is doing ok. 10 games 3 goals 4 assists 7 points +3 2 pim 12:35 Average time on ice It could be that his improved production is due to the fact that he's not in the Montreal press/fan cooker. Regardless, I'm happy for him. If he continues that way, good for him. I saw Garth Murray play on TV last week. He doesn't have any points yet but he's a good grit presence on the ice. He may very well have his place on the Canadiens team in the long run. We'll see. :hlogo::ghg::hlogo: God I hate to say it, but we got absolutley hosed in this deal. I'm still upset about it now. The only thing I'm glab about is that I have about 10 of his rookie cards here, that will probably go up in value. I can't honestly believe Gainey gave up on him, sent him to NY for nothing. Garth Murray will never contribute anything to the Montreal Canadiens. I really can't believe that after the preseason Hossa had, and you could quite clearly see he was ready to play this year, that he kept Dagenais around and not Hossa. I know they had a log-jam of forwards and had to move somebody but, its just not a good move. They could have atleast got a draft pick for him. Sighhhh.....just can't help feeling its a disaster
  4. While I like Steve Begin, he's a great fourth line player with the potential to grab some minutes on the 3rd line, and is an absolute essential for a playoff bound team, I don't think you can mention him in the same sentence as Pavol Datsyuk, unless its to say the Begin has the assignment of shutting down datsyuk. THeres a reason the one guys makes $4 million and the other guy $680,000. Datsyuk scored highlight reel goals and will probably record a point a game. He should be more compared to Maltby or Draper. RDS

    Thank goodness for Satellite TV
  6. I don't think Kovalev is one to get pissy about such things. Hes a veteran, and understands that line juggling is part of the game, especially with a veteran being involved. Besides, him, Koivu and Zednik had good chemistry in the playoffs a few years ago, so I don't see him as a problem. Ribeiro may be a problem as there seems to be rumours of him being cliquey, although I'm not sure how true these rumours are
  7. I'm sure he'll probably open a new account and try again.
  8. HE's an excellent skater. Very fast. I watched him alot in Hamilton last year, and he was definitley one of the fastest and hardest working players on the team. He also consistantly improved each year he was there. At some points late last year him and Plekanac were dominating games on Offence, backcheck and specialty teams
  9. YEah Mark I don't think I'll be doing much typing either. Especially with that performace the Laughs put in against Philly. Is it just me or is this guy ######ed? He does know that Tucker didn't come over from the Habs right? He came from Tampa Bay. And you can have your whinny bitch Tucker, cause we have Steve Begin, who skates circles around him. Besides, Tucker will end up like his brother in law Shayne Corson, quitting on them in the end. Right about now Komisarek looks a hell of alot better than Aki Berg and Wade Belak. Ask Darcy Tucker and Lindros how slow footed Mike Komisarek is. He drilled them into the boards numoreous times [Edited on 2005/10/24 by kaos]
  10. I don't think anyone is calling for Danis to replace Theodore. I think they're just suggesting that Danis get a start or two to fire up Theodore. All good athelets struggle and need to sit every now and again. THats healthy. And I couldn't agree more about Ribeiro. He has gotten better every year, and hes had to play with revolving linemates this year with Ryder being hurt a few games, and ever changing left wingers. WHen Zednik gets back and Dagenias sits and Ribeiro has a steady pair of linemates to develop chemistry with he'll start playing alot better. He just needs to pick his defensive game up a bit, along with Ryder.
  11. Obviously there isn't much going on in Leaf land, if he has to spend his time here...Poor dumb bastard. You have to feel sorry for him, he is a leaf fan. I notice he's not saying too much about the shit game Belfour had against Philly....lol
  12. By the time Sundin comes back, Lindros should be concussed by a thundering Mike Komisarek bodycheck, Jamie Allison's hip will probably have fallen apart and Ed Belfour's back will have been turned into a pretzel if not by a Perezhogin deke, then by Belfours decrepid old age
  13. Well considering that you drop a forward on the PK unit its still either Bonk and Bulis, or Bonk and Plekanac, as well as I've seen Koivu and Begin who if I recall are on the 1st and 4th lines respectively with plenty of PK time so thats really not a problem
  14. Thats all nice and fine to say that Theodore will improve his play...eventually. But its been 6 games now for him and he hasn't yet. So its time to give Danis a start and see if the Atlanta games was an abberation or if he's capable of playing at such a high level consistantly. And also light a fire under Theodore. And yes Brodeur is struggling, but the men infront of the net, and the powerplays, and not being able to play the puck don't seem to be bothering Trevor Miller, Manny Legacy, Thomas Vokun, Roberto Luongo, Mikka Kiprusoff (who struggles early and now has found his form), Cam Ward, Many Fernandez or the number of other goaltenders who GAA is under 3 and save percentage is over .900, neither of which Theodores is. I'm not saying Theodore isn't the number 1 goalie, I'm just saying he needs to be challenged and Danis needs to be ready.
  15. Look, you HABS Fanatics are just mad cause we got Darcy Tucker from yall. And he still contributes to Toronto way more than he ever did in Montreal. Don't cry when the Leafs win the cup this year. Have fun HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Wow, I didn't know we had a resident Comedian. Who let this joker in here. This must be someone who works for TSN? Perhaps hes the one who did the rankings...lol
  16. I doubt Juliien will touch the top line since its performing so well. Zednik may very well end up on the second line with Ribeiro and Ryder, and I hope very much that works out if it does happen. But Chris Higgins has been awesome this year so far with his speed and energy and I think he deserves a look. He definitly didn't look out of place with his promotion to the top lines in the last game. I think a line of Zednik, Bonk and either Plekanac, or Bulis would be a great line, with potential great chemistry being that their all from Czechaslovakia/Slovakia. They'd get 15 + minutes a games and lots of time on the PP, and its spreads Montreals scoring over a third line. Whatever Julien does, I'm sure Zednik will get alot of playing time, and hopefully he'll pop his usual 25 to 30 goals.
  17. I think Danis should get one of the next 3 starts, and possible 2 of the next 3 if Theodore doesn't improve his game in his next start. Theodore needs to start stealing games for Montreal, as they can't continue to rely on the offense for late game heroics. Teams like Philly, Ottawa, and Tampa won't allow it. Danis also needs to be ready for games in the next few months were the Habs play back to back games, three games in four nights and even four games in six nights. Thats extremely tough on a goaltender and will wear Theodore out. Montreal needs to know if Danis is ready to play in these games now. If and when Huet comes back a decision needs to be made. If Danis had played well and looks like he can play at this level. Then Huet has to go. If Danis doesn't look ready yet, then Danis can be sent back to Hamilton.
  18. Who cares what other people are writing about Montreal, or where their placing them in rankings. ITs all bullshit anyways. If you want a half decent read, read what Red Fisher or Pat Hickey write about the Habs. Or read some of the more intellgient Toronto Columnists like Damien Cox, Bob Mackenzie who don't focus just on Toronto, but on league wide issues. Do you honestly really care whether Toronto is 4th or 14th or whether Montreal is ranked higher? [Edited on 2005/10/24 by kaos]

    B! B! B!

ITs too bad he didn't score on some of them breakaways and shots. He needs to start burying his chances
  20. I'd like to see Higgins get some quality playing time on the second line with Ribeiro and Ryder. Unfortunatley that means dropping Zednik to the Bonk line, leave Perezhogin on the 1st line as they've been the best line for Montreal night in, and night out. But I think Zednik, Bonk and Bulis or maybe even Plekanac can make a great 3rd line, and Zednik would still get plenty of ice time with the PP as well
  21. Well Theo, can't play every game or he'd gonna get burnt out. Danis needs to play. And Theo looked bad on the Satan goal, and that last Yashin goal. He didn't look good at all.
  22. WHy does Koivu get the first star? Takes two penalities which result in NY goals. That punch he threw was absolutley ######ed. Not what I expect from him at all. Almost cost the Habs the game And I think Danis needs to start the next game. Theodore is looking pretty bad out there
  23. THe biggest advantage is that Montreal plays the best teams 8 times each. When you play better teams, you get better yourself. It will only help in the long term development of the younger players.
  24. Maybe he can score a few more goals, and become less underrated and more feared around the league. This guy, and Bonk as well need to start producing if this team is going to go anywhere
