  1. I agree. I know there are still those fans out there that want him gone. But then what? My big problem with BOb leaving is you don't realize you had a good thing until you've lost it. We've all been down the road before where the media dictated how the team was run. Mario Tremblay stepped out of Habs colour commentating job and right on to our bench as coach. We've seen it played over and over through the years. Even Latendresse is an example of this. The media and fans had a major influence on him coming in too quick. True BOb lost the media fight and caved on that decision but in day to day hockey operations and as a whole he is far more prepared and has delivered than his recent predecessors did. Maybe we should go get Brother Andre Savard back. He was an excellent scout but not a very good GM. Czerkawski for Asham and a pick and the $4 million Brisebois contract are examples of some of his mistakes. Rejean Houle......um, Richer? Can't afford Turner Stevenson but will sign Jim Campbell to equal dollars? The media probably kept his GM seat warm when he was away from his desk. Media were way too influental and Houle listened. At least I can drink to Reggie for picking Markov. I suppose we could put in Jacques Martin and bring up Boucher. But for me and at the end of the day I believe another hire would be a sideways move. This is Montreal! Since when has it been easy? And, the annoying thing about Gainey as GM is he just plain gets it wrong here and there and drives you crazy. Just like Dallas. He was hired for GM in 1993. Dallas won in 1999. He traded Audette to us for Benoit Brunet if I do recall. Didn't work out well (sound familar?) He was hired by the Habs in 2003 and it's now the 2009-10 season. Similar numbers. If you are patient with Gainey's twisting eventually he gets it right. The 10 year win a cup guy. We revert and maybe we don't win until 2029. No thanks. I'm angry in some ways at him but hey, I Trust In BOb and many times as afforementioned; by default.
  2. Sometimes I wonder if he's taking advice from Jacques Martin. It's possible that his agreement to bolt from Florida included concessions from Gainey that allowed Martin to have suggestive powers and included Gainey's promise to listen/implement them. Gainey might be taking his advice instead of solely deciding on his own. The Latendresse not favoured by Martin rumours and subsequent trading of Latendresse makes me wonder. Did BOb decide this based on Jacques Martin saying enough is enough?
  3. Gainey willing to negotiate during the season: La Presse - Gainey pourrait négocier avec Plekanec avant l'été
  4. With these injuries counting up, start praying Pouliot discovers the Greatest American Hero suit from the 80's TV show. Sergei to Lapierre - nice from the kid - speed and pass
  5. What the hell Columbus. This stinks. Hopefully for them they snap out of this. What's with Mason? Garon also had it tough against the Rag$ in relief. Columbus has me as confused as does Gainey and Martin
  6. Now Carey can go take a giant dump on the room. The players ought to listen! You have a war face? Any F(_)CXing time sweetheart!
  7. Give Lapierre credit. He answered the crowd. Hard work leads to drawing a penalty. Jacques Martin is not in my good books at the moment right now. Injuries and outclassed or not, ever heard of adjustments?
  8. This game is up to now like a book you know has an unhappy ending.
  9. Reset time. Our coverage is off. McGuire commented on Ryan White looking lost on the point coverage but they're lost on the corners too. Chnage this NOW! C'mon!
  10. Vermette. Well that was fun while it lasted. Nash the destroyer comes calling
  11. Wyman is pumped. Anybody else see him getting energized during the anthems? Cool
  12. If I recall we also set a record of 540 man games lost back in 1999. The record has been broken since. Washington I think. We missed the playoffs by 1 point. Poor Vigneault. He's happier now. Hopefully the Jackets don't go gangbusters because of their last outing disaster (You know they will) I'd like to see Wyman score and get a good clean check on someone on another play. I'd be nice if he, Sergei, Maxwell or Pyatt delivered and made the difference MAKE THE DIFFERENCE HABS. GO HABS GO :hlogo:
  13. I was at work when the draft took place. I remember alot of fans were confused and were weary of the move. Some wanted Pouliot and were sad he was gone and then they wanted Kopitar. They said exactly what you did at the time: Price? I countered that Serge Savard drafted Jose Theodore in 1994 when Roy was still a Canadien. Depth never hurts. And, if one has the opportunity to draft a Fleury/Luongo potential goalie at 5th - so be it! Cheers Chips, glad you are happy. I'm prayin' for the upside. It'll take a while to truly evaluate him. We can't really judge the kid until February - that is, to get a long term idea of what he brings.
  14. Gui was rushed and as a result was ruined IMO. Maybe he can have some luck in Minny. Good luck to him.
  15. Gainey is gambling and might just win this one. And I don't mean the trade itself. Even if Latendresse does go on the rise long term, at the end of the day it's still an even trade. And yeah, he's Franco-Ontarian so he ought to be pumped about playing. We might be surprised. We'll see. I thought that when Brule was acquired by the Oilers that it might have meant an upsurge for him. Now I'm wondering about Pouliot. I hope 2 AC points are worth a charm Right now he's 3rd line scratch material/fodder. But maybe the Bell Centre faithful will help Good enough BOb! :hlogo:
  16. Conspiracy theory time. Did the whole "Andre" and "Serge" thing lead to a rift between Lats and Sergei? I wonder, Lats gets moved and voila, Sergei is back??? Hmmm? We'll probably never know and I'm probably a mile off here GO #74 GO :hlogo:
  17. Not surprising given the fact that there were reports of Martin being frustrated with Gui to the point of...well, what purpose does he serve if any? I assume BOb heard Martin and here we are. And please don't jump down my throat. I meant Martin thinks, "what purpose?" Not necessarily me.
  18. I hope the Moen and Gomez injuries aren't too long term or severe. Maybe now Sergei get his call. O'Byrne coming back is the silver lining. I hope we aren't in any real extra trouble. Sigh
  19. Holy Moly we got a GOALIE. We should be very happy about that. One of our big worries was Price amongst other things. But now he's looking more like the MVP in waiting. No playoffs is one thing. A waste of the Price would be far worse. F'in A!!! Can now sleep well. :hlogo:
