1. so here we go Switzerland: Aebischer and Streit Czechs: Bulis and Plekanec Belarus: Kostitsyn Russia: Perezhogin US: Komisarek Bouillon and Higgins (both US), Kovalev, Zednik all declined http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/203556.html
2. I know that Streit and Aebischer will play for the Swiss, although Streit has had problems with an injury in the last months so he might not be able to play the usual minutes (averaging almost 30 minutes a game). what other habs have agreed to play for their country at the upcoming world championship?
3. Ribeiro has big plans for the future http://www.canada.com/topics/sports/hockey...d4-457dc2244e18 I hope the media wins
4. oh common. there were some questionable calls against Switzerland as well. They just said on CBC that the video ref only had 3 angles to work with which is unbelievable.. but gerber makes a huge save and you never see the puck in the net. the puck probably had crossed the line but canada shouldn't need such a goal to beat a team full of players who are too 'soft' for the NHL. An upset is always a great thing for a tournament. and it's great to see that team work payes off. I hope the habs watched this game and see that a small but fast skating team can beat big strong teams if they work hard together. GO SWISS, GO HABS
5. WOW WE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable, first the Czech now Canada. fantastic and fantastic for Streit. he is an awesome guy, great character, he deserves that A LOT. now I hope he can transfer that to the NHL.
6. WOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!! first against the czech and now against canada, the top 2 nations!!!!!!! who would have thought? nobody in switzerland for sure especially after really bad preperation games... FREE BEER FOR ME
7. wow the habs fan say that they're the best but that is obviously not true. unbelievable how moody and mean some of the habs fan are. it's just a disgrace
8. yeah, huet will get the swiss citizenship and has offers from the swiss league. he played there before and was one of the best goaltender (besides Martin Gerber). he said in swiss newspaper that he would go back to switzerland but I guess if he gets a good offer from Montreal, he will stay another season. we will see
9. Yes, Huet will get the Swiss Citizenship and already has different offers from Swiss clubs for next season...
10. yeah I was very surprised when I saw what he did. If you talk with him you think that he can't do any harm to anyone but I guess that last season in Switzerland changed him a little bit. he had a really hard time there and was treated like shit...
11. well better than in MLB where you have with and without steroid :nono: I'm not sure if that will be as big of an issue as it looks right now. I think that the goal average will drop as the season goes on. The defenseman as well as the coaches will figure a way out to handle the new rules better...
12. there have been quite a lot of new rules introduced in the 'new NHL' so which is your favorite one? I go with the icing rule. you're not allowed to change if you iced the puck. all the icing was a killer, now teams have to try harder to get out of their zones. I think it's really good for the flow and benefits the offensive teams. what are your favorite new rule?
13. Not 100% sure on this one, but I think the player has to be on the active roster to count. Still wasted money for the organization, but probably no hit to the cap. Sportsnet said that it will not count against the cap. they also said that gainey might try to trade one or both of them.
14. On Swiss TV, Streit said that he thinks he has a good chance to start the season in Montreal although he doesn't really know what Julien thinks. Julien doesn't talk much to him so he gets most of his news from the media. the 30 game clause was never mention in any Swiss media
15. I'm not sure if that is the right place to post this but it is very much related to the pool RDS Article that a decision will be made about Latendresse this weekend
16. It's not true, Streit has a two-way contract.
17. yes, very true, I'm surprised that Plekanec is so good defensively... Streit plays well. I'm wondering why he always has to play with Higgins or Cote before. In Switzerland, he played very offensively and if you would give him a reliable defensive partner, he would do much better. that way, he is never really too comfortable. let him play with souray or rivet and let's see what he can do.
18. VERY is a little bit of a stretch but he has improved and I guess feels the heat of the young guys :/)
19. hainsey gets pushed around as if he has the same size and frame as ribeiro...........
20. according to The Hockey News have a look at the article I especially like the second paragraph Oh yeah, we all will miss Brisebois and Dykhuis. :puke:
21. Yann Danis will start in goal tonight, while Carey Price, the Canadiens' first-round pick in June, will take over midway through the second period. Three players - Cory Locke, Andrei Kostitsyn and Jonathan Aitken - will all make their first exhibition appearances tonight. see article Looking forward to see Kostitsyn playing.
22. just keep in mind that Streit is used to the European style. You have to give him some time adjusting to the North American rink. He has signed a two-way contract, you have to give him some credit for that. He could have an easy live in Switzerland where everyone respects him and where he can earn some good money. But I have to agree. I have seen him play quite often in the last 6 years and although I think that he is a great player, I do not see him as a good fit for the Habs. He is a Markov kind of a player and I think that the Habs have enough of that. His biggest plus to Hainsey is his consistency and his character.
