  1. Schaefer will probably go way higher due to his power forward build. That would actually be a really really nice haul! Not so bold prediction, this draft is going to be all over the place. Off the board selections and many perceived drops. Outside the top 7-8, there’s a huge group of prospects that could go anywhere from say 9-30 imo. A guy like Ohgren could go top 10, or slip far, maybe even 26. Even though this draft isn’t considering incredible (good depth though) it’s going to be really exciting to follow imo.
  2. More expressive than the average prospect that’s for sure. I always laugh/lament at how monotone many hockey players are in interviews. I always caution myself from valuing a prospect because they’re charismatic though. Interviews are almost more of making sure there are not any red flags in my opinion. Sort of a “ok, he seems to have his head on straight, now how’s his game.
  3. I’d honestly say close to 0%. There could be a team out there who likes slaf more or something, but I don’t think it’s MTL.
  4. I’m hoping for the same. We need two nice players this year
  5. Yea, unless BIG pieces are involved I can’t see moving past the top 15. I see moving up 5-6 places to draft a guy HuGo felt slipped and they really love. could be one of the big d men, (mateychuk, mintyukov or Korchinski) or a talent like Yurov who slips due to the Russian factor. Geekie or Lambert other guys who could slip, and if HuGo likes them, they could see for to move up. that’s my thoughts anyway
  6. I 100% wouldn’t. We already know Caufield is a 20 (and easily potential for 30) goal scorer at the NHL level. Cooley and Slaf are still unproven at this level.
  7. I personally would need the 2nd and Another nice piece to trade Caufield
  8. Yea that makes sense. 33 Seems early when I think about it. EDM pick would be great. You swing there and hope you hit a Krug or Gryzelyck calibre guy
  9. Interesting thought. Perhaps that vision/processing could translate well to playing up front
  10. Met him downtown St. John’s and bought him a drink one time! He went for a vodka sofa with a splash of cran hahah. He was nice enough to invite me back to his table where Matthieu Dandenault was. Chatted for a long time and Dandenault literally started doing magic tricks (and he was good at them 😂) One of the most unexpected nights ever. This was when the Icecaps were based in St. John’s. Very nice people by the way
  11. Would be interesting to see what Hutson’s wingspan is
  12. Francis Bouillon had a long career at 5’8 and nearly 200. My Dad always just called him “cube” 😂 id say strength/weight is more important for both forwards and defence, but height certainly has its advantages. Stick reach as was mentioned, and perhaps a little better shot blocking. That said, I don’t expect Hutson to ever have the same stature as Cube. Seems to be fairly slight. Gonna need him to grow a little if he’s to teach his potential at the NHL level
  13. Honestly, I think half the value would be in perception alone, even if it didn’t make a massive tangible difference
  14. Tall fella! I’m only 5’8 myself (but I don’t trust my chances at a late growth spurt at 28 😂) would be very interesting to see Hutson’s value skyrocket if he shot up to the 5’10 mark
  15. Have you heard the rumour that he had his bone-age tested and it suggests he has a good bit of growing left? If he has a late growth spurt he could end up at 5’10 or even 5’11 anyway. I'm personally a fan of this type of home run swing
  16. I don’t think Hutson would fall to our late picks, but he could fall to the 40’s. if we could pick up a 40’s pick in a Petry deal I think that could be great value
  17. Vicious booing then “WE HAVE A TRADE TO ANNOUNCE”, followed by a raucous cheer always makes me chuckle 😂
  18. Yea a lot of strong skaters in Europe or USHL. My only point was Mateychuk was his #3, while Wright didn’t even make the list despite finishing higher overall in skating then Mateychuk at the skills comp. I also love Mateychuk for the record!
  19. I wouldn’t mind seeing 1 Wright 26 Howard 33 Hutson
  20. Yea I don’t think many are purposefully contrarian besides for cheap writers who aren’t necessarily worried about their reputation. however, I can’t help but feel a subconscious underrating of Wright’s overall skills
  21. It’s strange to me they don’t have Wright listed at all for top skaters, when he outperformed the #2 guy Mateychuk at the CHL skills comp. I guess it’s perceived he isn’t a great skater because he didn’t demonstrate his explosivity in game. His skating is probably underrated
  22. Well, at least Vegas will have some cap space mid season to make a trade deadline deal for a solid vet like say.. Dadonov 😂
