  1. Habs are sending scouts to Nashville all week to apparently look at a d-man. The articles below speculate the names of Alex Sulzer and Shane O'Brien...and it's not from Eklund even. http://www.examiner....-home-this-week http://www.examiner.com/montreal-canadiens-in-montreal/habs-looking-to-land-a-predator
  2. What has gotten into the Islanders? (And I don't mean the penalties this time.) After 'only' scoring 3 against the Habs (plus getting the shootout win), they've scored 16 goals in their last 2 games, 9 against the Pens in the slugfest and 7 more today against Buffalo. For a team missing a huge chunk of their better players, this is really quite impressive.
  3. Godard got the automatic 10, Gillies 9, Martin 4. I think Martin's needed to be closer to that of Gillies and Godard but 9 for Gillies is respectable at least.
  4. I caught parts of the Friday game, I was impressed with his skating considering his size. He's not fast, but he's not Hal Gill either. He also had the hit of the night late in the 3rd. Tinordi is once again on Sportsnet today, in a couple of hours at 2 PM, taking on Guelph. The game is available on Sportsnets East, Ontario, West, and Pacific.
  5. Apparently he didn't have a sling on his shoulder and wasn't in any visible pain as he left the arena according to some of the beat reporters. He was held out as a precaution so I'm somewhat optimistic he'll be good to go for Tuesday.
  6. A quick version of the 3 Stars are up, had to hurry tonight. http://www.habsworld.net/article.php?id=2381
  7. Don't take anything away from Gomez based on tonight's game, he had a pretty solid effort as well. Desharnais has looked quite good lately though, that's for sure.
  8. They say it for every game that it exists, Leafs or not. Plus, if you don't believe in that jinx (I don't for one), it's not a big deal. Solid game overall, bit of a snoozer though.
  9. Bulldogs actually did tie the game (a Carle shot) but it was waved off as the ref (the wonderful Jamie Koharski) didn't see it go in. There's no video review in the AHL, so another bad break for Hamilton.
  10. Hamilton gets a late PP (after Mayer nearly got in a fight) but can't cash. 3-2 final, losing streak now sits at a season long 4 games. http://theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1008112
  11. If Markov/Gorges are healthy, the Habs don't get Wisniewski. That would be an intriguing set of d-men though.
  12. Mayer has allowed 2 softies apparently this game, the second of which is proving to be the potential game-winner, 3-2 Amerks late 3rd.
  13. Klubertanz scores, now 2-2. Conboy and Wyman the helpers. 3 minutes left in the 2nd.
  14. Carle scored unassisted fairly in the 2nd to tie it at 1. Late stages of the 2nd now.
  15. 1-0 Amerks at the beginning of the 2nd. Shots are 9-7 Hamilton.
  16. Scratched today are Festerling, Avtsin, and Bishop. The latter is a healthy scratch, the other two injured.
  17. Mayer gets the nod this afternoon. This oughta be interesting...
  18. I believe you're referring to Don Lever, who coached the Bulldogs up until the beginning of last season. He was there for their Calder Cup run as well (Kostitsyn was supposed to be but whined about not playing so he was sent home).
  19. Expect the league to really come down hard on NYI (save for Godard's automatic 10). They can afford to since it's not like severe punishments would hurt the Isles much more, whereas had they come down on Boston, it really could have affected the playoff race. My conspiracy theory for the day...though to be fair, the Isles deserve some supplementary discipline.
  20. Yep, Cammalleri is either on IR already or could be placed. Gorges/Markov are already there so even with the 2 DTD injuries, that's only 22 on the roster, room for 1 more.
  21. They've rotated forwards all year, particularly with Avtsin, who has been a healthy scratch I'd suggest 8+ times already. Nash was scratched I think once early on.
  22. The Bulldogs (28-18-5) are looking to snap a 3 game losing streak as they host the North Division bottom feeder Rochester (21-26-5). Active scoring leaders: Goals: Mike Duco (14) Assists: Michal Repik (32) Points: Michal Repik (40) PIMS: Eric Selleck (130) +/-: A.J. Jenks (+6) Active scoring leaders: Goals: Dustin Boyd (14) Assists: Ben Maxwell (25) Points: Ben Maxwell (34) PIMS: Jimmy Bonneau (113) +/-: Brendon Nash (+12) Puck drop is at 4:00 PM EST and can be listened to by clicking this link: http://cham.player.amri.ca/

  24. Quite the scuffle between NYI/PIT last night. Expect Godard to get 10 games for leaving the bench and quite frankly, Matt Martin should be getting a similar amount for his Bertuzzi-esque punch on Talbot. Trevor Gillies deserves several games for trying to fight a player (Tangradi) who was unconscious - then when the trainer helped him up and off the ice, Gillies challenged Tangradi again. Complete lack of class, especially from the Islanders (Michael Haley called up solely to brawl this game...he'll get suspended too I think).
  25. Avtsin is often a healthy scratch so that one doesn't surprise me a ton. I didn't hear the game but I suspect Engqvist was injured (or told he's getting called up this morning), he's too important to Hamilton to be scratched. Nash was a no-go last night too, I'd be stunned if he was a healthy scratch.
