Ben Scrivens is backing up Reimer right now.
-
I don't want to give up on Weber just yet, he's been pretty solid. Though if he's sent to Hamilton, I wouldn't complain simply for the sake of the Bulldogs. I've got the write-up of the trade plus profiles up on HW now. Also, with lots of us online, may be worth popping over to the chatroom...

This quote would be my guess. Sopel has had playoff success and fits the shutdown role, allowing Subban to play with someone not named Gill. I'd also suspect it's Maxwell for Sopel, 4th for Dawes. New blueline, sans Spacek, stands at Hamrlik - Wisniewski, Gill - Sopel, Mara - Subban, Picard - Weber. 8 active D, could see Picard swapped for a mid-pick later on.
-
~$1.8 M remaining; if Spacek is out long-term, his cap hit could be added to that. Capsheet updated, link on main page.
-
Yep to both. Perhaps they'll rekindle their chemistry in Hamilton.
-
Dawes merely replaces Maxwell in Hamilton since Maxwell was their top active point getter.
-
For Maxwell and a 4th. Working on the HW write up now.

Check the first part of the series, guess who was on there too?

Waiver review: Nikolai Zherdev (PHI) - clears Craig Rivet (BUF) - clears, to go on re-entry Friday, claim date Saturday Marek Svatos (NSH) - claimed by Ottawa Ales Kotalik (CGY - re-entry) - clears Jeremy Colliton (NYI) - clears Waived today: Steve Bernier (FLA) Mike Smith (TB - re-entry) Kovalev traded to the Pens for a conditional draft pick - 7th guaranteed, 6th if the Pens win a round and he plays half the playoff games (I call it the 'Wisniewski clause'). Given that most playoff teams (the Habs included) did not have the cap space to absorb him outright, this comes as little surprise.

Just watched the game, I was expecting an awful 3rd period judging from the shots and what I read but all in all, it was a pretty good period in terms of preventing Vancouver from getting too many chances. Heck, most of the final 90 seconds were spent in the 'Nucks' end. Some iffy moments overall (2nd period) for sure but Vancouver is a good team, they weren't going to roll over for sure.

Well, since we have a new thread discussing trades here, I'll note here that Part 3 (and the final part) of HW's Trade Deadline preview series is now up, looking at the Bulldogs and some other unsigned prospects. http://www.habsworld.net/article.php?id=2393

I haven't seen the game yet (taped it though) but it sounds as if it'll be an interesting one to watch. One note from looking at the stats, the 4th line played just over 5 minutes yesterday, despite scoring one of the first period goals. That's the first time in a while I can remember seeing an entire line that low - 1 or 2 players, sure, but a full line is rare.
-
He has been relegated to 4th line duties in Calgary and has done very little overall since joining them. He's not a top-6 player and his cap hit ($3 M) prohibits him from being cost-effective in the bottom 6. If his contract was half of what it is, he'd have a decent market of suitors.
-
Good to know now before I write my deadline piece on the Bulldogs, that basically killed the slim value he may have had.
-
Rivet has been a healthy scratch for a long time now, not sure he's any better than Mara, despite being nearly 5x the cost. I must admit though, Zherdev piques my interest a little and his cap hit is low enough that it would still permit a secondary move to be made.
-
Lots of names to ponder today: Nikolai Zherdev (PHI) Craig Rivet (BUF) Marek Svatos (NSH) Ales Kotalik (CGY - re-entry) Jeremy Colliton (NYI) Wonder if Zherdev, no matter how enigmatic he is, could be of interest.
-
At that price I wouldn't put up too much of a fuss about it (provided who gets sent down/traded to accommodate the cap hit since the Habs don't have that much space isn't too notable) but to me, he's a last ditch option. There are better players available, ones that could have a longer term impact. That's Plan A...and B, C, probably D too.
-
More than likely. I'm not sure Penner moves by Monday to be honest, I think the Oilers will stand pat on their big 2.
-
The Habs are reportedly front runners for Dustin Penner according to TFP. http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/edm110222.html

One note is that you'll have to get to 100 posts before you can post HTML (a forum setting). You're only 22 away so it shouldn't take too long.

Both teams can agree to mutually terminate a contract with no cap penalty (Lukas Krajicek in Philly last year, Jon Sim and Andrew Peters among others this year). Can't see Redden giving up that much money (there's no buyout on $125 waivers) though. Rangers can hope all the want, but it ain't happening. As for Gomez, no, you cannot change or re-negotiate contracts. If you buy out/release a player, said player cannot re-sign for a full calendar year after. So the scenario you've proposed, though desirable, is illegal.
-
Or maybe they just don't like Hagman, he's down to the 4th line in Calgary now. That's a hefty price tag if indeed his better days are behind him.
-
He's the guy that beat out Hamrlik for the Czech Olympic team last year, that says a lot to me.
-
I did last week too. One of the more underrated d-men in the league, in my opinion.
