  1. Another stat that I see looking at the statsheet (I really do like looking at those during the intermission): The Pacioretty-Desharnais-Cole line has 3 goals on 4 shots. Now that's efficient.
  2. Gill has played a lot more than usual, on pace for over 18 minutes tonight. His minutes have come at Kaberle's expense; despite being +2, he has played only 4:43. He was looking pretty good out there too.
  3. Hopefully Moen's injury isn't too serious but that certainly wasn't the prettiest of collisions. Kostitsyn's having a rough night out there, keeps going offside at nearly every opportunity. Tonight's shot leaders so far: Gomez and Blunden with 3. Bourque leads in hits with 4, he's looked decent so far. Nothing flashy, but effective.
  4. Nokelainen has lost the confidence of Cunneyworth. Darche has been effective enough on the PK which is more or less what Nokelainen's role has been. With Gomez back now, they have 4 C's dressed as well.
  5. The Desharnais line starts with Gorges-Subban on defence.
  6. So much for the planned 12/6. Nokelainen out, Emelin in.
  7. Campoli isn't in the warmup, he's a no-go tonight. I thought he had a decent game last night so I'm a little surprised he's not back in.
  8. Bulldogs kill the penalty and hold on to win it 2-1!
  9. Should be noted that Alain Berger is playing his first game since Nov. 25. 2:11 left, still 2-1 but Toronto going to the PP.
  10. The forward lines have been updated as per the notes on the TwitterBug on the main page. Also note that Cunneyworth today declared the Plekanec line the 3rd trio so I've made that change as well. Montreal will dress 12/6 tonight meaning 2 D will sit. No word on which 2 will be eating popcorn tonight.
  11. No way it gets to 70 million in 2 years. The cap is going down in the next CBA for the sole reason that the league isn't going to agree to give the players 57% of HRR as they're getting now. Yes, Winnipeg will help the league HRR compared to Atlanta but not enough to compensate...the lower exchange rate will also drop things a bit. Here are the rough numbers: $64.3 M cap hit * 30 teams = 1,929,000,000 to the players 1,929,000,000 / 57% HRR = approx 3,384,210,500 total HRR For the sake of estimation, let's put this year's HRR at 3.4 billion (and I think that's going high based on attendance issues in other markets, I think it will be down from last year's despite Winnipeg's increases). Also, let's assume they negotiate back to 54% which is where it was at the start of the CBA (and I think it'll be lower). 54% of 3.4 B divided by 30 is a ceiling of $61.3 million. I truly think it will be lower; even if it's this, it ain't jumping to 70 the next year. As for the Price report, I don't trust the source, that site has been wrong many, many times before.
  12. Another weekend, another Marlie game. 14. I can understand giving Mayer the first two games. Last year aside, he did win them back-to-back games while playing well last weekend so he very much deserved these games. I'd like to see Delmas today but with Mayer beating them the last couple of times, I think he'll get the start again.
  15. Rochester takes this one 3-1 (including a late empty netter). DeSimone had his first goal in an eternity (okay, 13 games) for Hamilton. Mayer had the loss, wonder if Delmas will get the nod tomorrow then?
  16. Glad it's not too serious. I had read somewhere he had an outside shot at breaking the Giants' all-time record for goals in a season, an injury for more than a few games would really hurt his chances.
  17. I put the lines in that way since Cole is going to be double shifting at times. You have to believe they're not going to play Cole in back-to-back shifts which suggests one will probably be the 3rd line and the other the 1st. As it is, the Kostitsyn line has been the top line ice time wise in recent games.
  18. It's a big game for Hamilton as tonight they travel to Rochester to take on the Americans. With a regulation win, Hamilton would get within 1 point of 2nd place (Rochester) in the division (yes, their division is really bad). Active scoring leaders: Goals: Andreas Engqvist (12) Assists: Brian Willsie (15) Points: Aaron Palushaj (25) PIMS: Zack FitzGerald (139) +/-: Andreas Engqvist (+11) Active scoring leaders: Goals: Derek Whitmore (15) Assists: Varone/Voakes (15) Points: Derek Whitmore (24) PIMS: Marcus Foligno (57) +/-: Mark Voakes (+10) Puck drop is at 7:35 PM EST and can be listened to by clicking this link: http://cham.player.amri.ca/
  19. By the way, the lines are as follows: Ottawa: Greening- Spezza - Michalek Condra - Turris - Alfredsson Foligno - Smith - Butler Daugavins - Konopka - Neil Phillips - Gonchar Kuba - Karlsson Carkner - Cowen Anderson Montreal: Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole Moen - Eller - Kostitsyn Gomez - Plekanec - Blunden/Cole Darche - Nokelainen Gorges - Subban Emelin - Diaz Gill - Kaberle Weber Price - Blunden and Cole will split time on the Plekanec line. - No word on whether or not Weber stays in (I would hope so) or if Campoli will be in for someone else if at all.
  20. I think we'll see a couple of extra hotdog vendors get dealt to the 200 level from the 500 level in exchange for two beer vendors amid rumours of Ottawa and Montreal fans starting to get pushy. The philosophy to keep unnecessary fights down doesn't just pertain to the players...
  21. Regardless, there's forum tradition to try and uphold here...
  22. Why not? This thread has everything else it seems...aside from regular rumours.
  23. Subban had a hearing with Shanahan yesterday for the hit on Krejci (that ultimately led to Montreal's lone PPG with Ference getting the double minor) but will not be fined or suspended. Also, as both bar and I are on GDT losing streaks, anyone want to take tonight's?
  24. He'd never do that though. If he stays unretired, he collects his money through insurance until he plays. If he retires, he doesn't get that.
