  1. Bouillon is a #6 or 7 D and he accepts is role. Also, is making the league minimum of $500,000 and plays a very decent game. I actually think that is one of the best #6-7 D in the league and we would be idiots to get rid of him, especially that we are already weak and without any depth at D. More over, is a french guy from here which makes him play hard and valuable for the habs with the media. The Habs will always need a few french guys from Quebec on their team.
  2. See ya!!! Don't need crybabies as Habs fan and we don't need your stupid comments here eiher. What? The little boy is frustraded because he didn't get is lollypop Grow up man!!!
  3. I agree that Koivu is more of a good 2nd center. I would like him for 2.5 to 3M$/year and sign a top #1 center (Olli Jokinen anyone???). Trade Ribs and Zednik for a good solid D. We have Latendresse and Kostitsyn as LW for our 2 top lines. Kostitsyn-Jokinen-Kovalev Latendresse-Koivu-Ryder Those would be very nice lines for next year 2 vets with a rookie per line. There's also Perezhogin as a backup if one of the 2 rookies doesn't work out. We need help at D!!! For our forwards, all we need is a new top #1 center and then we are set.
  4. I would just like to highlight that I doubt that Bob needed Nilan or anybody to feel safe on the ice. He was able to take care of him self very well and was probably making others safe instead of him being felt safe. I wouldn't want to be in his face when he's pissed off....he already looks mean when he has a stright face...imagine when he's pissed....
  5. Nolan = No thank you !!! Either I want a top proven forward or we go with our prospects, but no as-beens please... Le Cow-Boy can go where he wants as long as its not here.
  6. I agree that Luongo is a RFA and that Florida could match offers next summer, but where I disagree is that Luongo is not just marginally better, if at all...he is much better. 5 goals on 18 shots is normal for any goalie during a season. Theo did as bad a few times this year by the way, so don't tell us that Montreal fans would lynch him...because he should have been lynched a dozen times this year. Theo is over rated and a dozen other goalies would be an upgrade on him. I say keep him for this year, trade him this summer and get Fernandez as a UFA this summer. Fernandez is better then Theo (a lot more consistent and doen't give up bad goals), cheaper and from Quebec. A 3 year deal would be perfect because Price would be reay by then (1 more year as a junior being Canada's #1 for the Juniors and 2 in Hamilton). If Luongo comes here, which I doubt, it will be in a trade of as a UFA in 2 years. As for the trade rumor...no thanks!!! This would be a disaster of a trade. All average players with no or little upside for a star #1 goalie. We are not Boston where we trade a star (Thornton) for a bunch of average players...
  7. As explained by many posts, because of Rejean Houle's many mistakes!!!! If we were under the same management has in 1994, then I would be freaking out!!! Give time to the new management to rebuild the crappy team they were ended to start with. BG has only been with us for 3 years, in fact 2, because of last year's strike.
  8. To comment on Streit, is anyone still missing Hainsey??? Streit played a good game against the Sharks. A solid type of game that I never came close to see from Hainsey. Streit might be older then Hainsey and has less of an upside, but I think he will give us more then Hainsey would have ever been able to give us. Same for Murray vs. Hossa. Looks like BG made the right call on these 2 heartless waste of a draft pick. Am I the only one that doesn't understand this, but how can a team draft guys who are heartless, bigheaded and don't give their best on a consistent basis. Don't they meet with these guys and check their backgrounds before making them 1st round selections. I just don't understand how we could have been so way off in our draft picks for the past 15 years??? If only 2 or 3 of these picks would have become a good player, we wouldn't be in this position.
  9. Yes we are tired of rebuilding but we don't have much of a choice. Some idiot (Ronald Corey to not name names) decided a few years ago to bring into the organization old inexperienced Habs players into important roles in the organization (Rejean Houle and Mario Tremblay to not name names). We are still recovering from this disaster. Tremblay chased Roy out of town and Houle traded him for a bag of peanuts. Houle also traded a bunch of other good players for other peanuts. More over, we also selected peanuts in the drafts during those years. Somehow, since his nickname his "peanut", he tought that having all these peanuts would make us a great team. All this to say that Houle destroyed this team and left it with little quality players at the NHL level and not much more in the minors. It takes almost a decade to recover from such a disaster and we are a couple of years away of that. Just give Bob a chance to put together his own team. He just hired the coach that he wanted from day one yesterday. We are now ranked 6th out of 30 for prospects by Hockeyfuture.com. Bob will sign UFAs and make trades to shape this team into what he wants, he's just waiting for the right time and the right deals to come along. He's patient and doesn't jump at the first trade offer that seems to be reasonable just for the sake of shaking things around. Only a third of the roster are players he brought in. I'm sure that there's at least another third that he wants to upgrade and/or get rid of....Ribeiro for starters. Ribeiro his the complete opposite of what BG likes in a player and its a question of time before he's gone. Others will follow. Now lets just be patient, we have the proper management in place, they will give us a contender within the next 3 years.
  10. On RDS they say that tomorrow he will know if its broken or not. Broken or not, I don't think he will play tomorrow. Kostitsyn time...and now he will have more then 30 seconds of ice time with CJ gone!!!
  11. Prima donna? What the hell are you talking about? The guy was our captain and a real one, not like Koivu. He would rally the troops and not allow clicks in the dressing room like Koivu has allowed. Is having character being a prima donna? Love Koivu for his work ethic, but he's not a great captain. A captain he's someone that can stand up and shake guys up. The Habs unity and chemistry has never looked great under Koivu's captaincy. Complete opposite under Carbo's captaincy. I'm sure he will be a great coach. Exactly what we needed. A guy with NHL experience. All the previous guys where rookies with no respect from the players. Also, he won't be afraid to say and do things the way he wants. He knows Montreal, its pressure and media very well and won't be afraid to put guys in the stands. Carbo was a guy with great hockey sens who knows the game very well, so I think he will be a great coach for us. Don't forget that a coach in Montreal has to be bilingual. Personnaly, I don't care and would take an anglophone as long as he's competent, but it's a fact and reality, so name me another guy that would be better then Carbo?? Forget these QMJHL coaches that don't have NHL experienece has a player and/or has an assistant coach in the NHL, we have proven in the past 10 years that they are worthless. We have bad apples in the locker room and Gainey and Carbo will flush'em out...
  12. Doubtfull. Gainey his the head coach and has final say in the decisions until Carbo takes over (that's what he said in the press conference). Don't forget that when BG moves back up to GM, they will need to hire a new assistant. Probably a D coach since nobody has D experience in our present coaches. How about a return of Larry Robinson? Carbo - Jarvis - Robinson, that would be nice I could see a guy like Komisarek evolve under Robinson. Niedermayer and Stevens did very well under Robinson...
  13. It won't take long for Gainey and Carbo to figure out who's not working hard and who's not proud to wear the greatest NHL jersey ever and bring back it's well deserved glory. I can't stand earing anymore that TO is the hockey center of the universe and that there Canada's team and blablabla...just a bunch of crap!!!! The Habs should be seen the same way in hockey as the Yankees for baseball, but some how we lost that image in the 90's with all our bad moves...especially the Tremblay-Houle era!!!
  14. Luongo he's still a restricted FA this summer. Only after next yeay that he will be a UFA, so forget signing him this summer.
  15. Its an hyperextension of the left knee. Souray says it doesn't hurt and that he wants to come back Saturday. Doesn't look serious. See RDS article at the bottom: http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/195586.html
  16. Lapointe at 2.4M$!!!! No fuc..g way!!! We have enough 3rd line players making that $...caugh Bonk caugh
  17. RDS my friend. http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/195586.html At the bottom of the article. Basically it says that its a hyperextension of the left knee and that it doesn't hurt him. Its just that his knee was unstable last night and did want to return because didn't want to hurt the team with bad plays.
  18. Souray wants to come back Saturday. If not, it will be the game after that...his injury is just a sprain.
  19. Bell can play all 3 positions and he's a potential good poward forward. He's the only one I want out of the 3 (Calder, Arnason, Bell). Bell - Plex - Ryder ... that would be a nice 2nd line
  20. I would prefer: Bell, Aucoin and a draft pick (3rd or 4th round) for Ribs, Souray and Zed. This trade would be good for $, not much difference between the 2. Aucoin is a Souray type of D but better....big, good shot, not the fastest on skates, can play physical.... Zed and Bell are both 30 goal scorers. Ribs his a throw in to compensate for Bell and Aucoin being a little better then Zed and Souray. Not going to happen in a million years. Richards is in no way a similar type of player then Ribeiro. Richards has a good shot, not Ribs, Richards his good defensively, not Ribs, Richards his good at faceoffs, not Ribs, Richards plays with heart and emotion, not Ribs....I could go on for days... Bonk makes 2.4M$, if they want to dump salary, why would they get Bonk? Also, they're weak in D, so why would they give away Sydor? Also, they want a goalie, if Richrads his traded, it will be for a goalie. There are rumors that they're after Manny Fernandez or Biron...good not too expensive goalies. I think its more wishfull thinking on your part then anything else....
  21. I would take one of their young D. We have none in our system. Not much help for this year, but I don't care at this point. Obviously, I would like to make the playoffs, but I prefer to think long term and I thimk that its what Bob his doing. I don't mind not making a trade do help us now and not making the playoffs if it means getting a young guy that would be ready next year. Not making the playoffs also means a better draft pick, possibly a top 10 and the draft has very good talent next year. Obviously, this would have to be the last year of us not making the playoffs (and we still can even if we don't make a trade). All of this would be towards making us a top team in 2 years for the 2007-08 season. Are young prospects currently with the team will have some experience and the ones in the minors will have reached the NHL (Latendresse, Chipchura, Emelin). I haven't given up yet on this year, but I'm being realistic, our team needs changes and I see us building towards a championship team in 2-3 years. Bob has not been with the team for long and most players are not his. It takes time to build the team you want as a GM and that's what Bob his doing, taking his time.
  22. Gonchar did sign a 5 year 25M$ deal this summer and yes this would be the worst trade possible. He's getting old and he's definetly not worth 5M$ a year. Can you imagine what we could have for that cash!!! Why not throw in an extra million and make a 6M$/year offer to Redden this summer. At least we would be getting our money's worth!!! I admit I would like a trade right now, but not for anybody. I would rather keep the team they way it is right now then trade for an overpaid player. I miss good offensive hockey, its been 2 decades that we haven't had a top 10 scorer in the league...wouldn't be fun!!!!
  23. Forget Minnesota, they already have Pierre-Marc Bouchard, Mikko Koivu and their #1 prospect is center Patrick O'sullivan, a top notch scorer and prospect. Why would they sign Saku? To play on the 3rd line? Where would O'sullivan play...on the 4th line? That's really good to develop a top prospect Sorry, but Saku in Minnesota ain't never gonna happen. Unless BG doesn't want him back, which I doubt, there's no way in hell that he won't be back..as long as its for a reasonable price. The fact that he's injury prone makes him less attractive for the other teams, which is good for us. Out of the many UFA available, why would a team who has no history with a player invest millions in that injury prone player. These guys are only picked up towards the end of the UFA market by desperate teams at a fairly low price...like the Rangers with Straka...the Bruins with Zhamnov, etc. All very good players that are injury prone. If I was a GM of any other team then the Habs, I would not sign Saku unless it was at a good discount, say 2.5M$/year. Jokinen will get a lot more attention then Koivu...
  24. Amen to that. Morrison and Auld??? We don't need either of them We have are own young goalie prospects and a bunch of UFA goalies this summer. Morrison is a joke!!!
  25. I'm sure Koivu is going to stay and I want to keep him, but only at a fair price. Don't care if he's the heart and soul of the team, can't afford to overpay a player with the new cap rules. A long term contract (3 to 5 years, he's already 31 years old) for 3.5M$ per year would be nice. Love the guy, but he's always injured, so I wouldn't pay him much more then that, especially that he would be 35-36 years old at the end of a 5 year contract. I read an article earlier this season where he mentionned that he wants to stay in Montreal for many reasons: 1) its is home away from home 2) Montreal's weather is like in Finland 3) as a very strong involvement in the community (cancer foundation, etc.) 4) feels that he owes something to the team for their support and medical attention for his cancer 5) the fans love him (he never gets booed or bashed in forums/media) 6) the Habs have always been is favorite team Yes he could probably get more as UFA then 3.5M$/year, but I'm sure he would stay at a discount, as long as its not too much. Not sure he would be getting a 4-5 yer deal as a UFA.... There are not that many good UFA centers available this summer. I think Jokinen is the most important one. I wouldn't mind getting both (it also means bye bye Ribeiro), having a pair of Fin centers would be cool...
