  1. I guess this just goes to show you how poor our management/scouting was.....
  2. Hate to break your heart, but I can't see Naslund's number being raised to the rafters anytime soon....
  3. Are you kidding me? this guy is weaker than my little sister..... That's like asking Ribs to drop'em with Domi cause they're the same height.... Dagenais problem isn't his ability to find a niche, but rather the fact that he doesn't work. If he worked harder off the ice on his leg strength, he'd be able to move faster. If he worked harder on the ice, we'd actually like him! Step 3 would be asking him to pass the puck....
  4. I thought it was pretty sad, and pretty dirty, to see one of the bigger players in the league throwing a cheap shot at a guy who is being held by the refs. Especially considering the fact that the only reason he was on his feat was cause the refs saved him....
  5. I believe it was Mike Brophy (correct me if I'm wrong) who wrote an article on the Laughs claiming that JFJ had come through the FA period as one of the top performing GM's, in terms of adding youth to his team??? 22nd in the league? It's just so hard to believe that an article about the Leafs might exagerate something to make them look good
  6. I couldn't believe it when I saw it, but here's how TSN has the habs listed in terms of depth: Left Wing Centre Right Wing Alexei Kovalev Mike Ribeiro Michael Ryder Jan Bulis Saku Koivu Alexander Perezhogin Niklas Sundstrom Radek Bonk Steve Begin Tomas Plekanec Chris Higgins Raitis Ivanans Peter Vandermeer Garth Murray Pierre Dagenais Andrei Kostitsyn Jonathan Ferland Richard Zednik Defence Defence Sheldon Souray Andrei Markov Craig Rivet Mathieu Dandenault Francis Bouillon Mike Komisarek Ron Hainsey Mark Streit Now I can assume Zed is at the bottom due only to his injuries, but Ribeiro above Koivu??? I wonder what kind of data they use to figure this one out..... They probably just ask Healy for his 'professional' opinion!
  7. To quote Dave Stubbs in today's Gazette: "The Canadiens have opened with four straight victories three times in their history, and in '56, '71', and '78, they went on to win the Stanley Cup." Not bad for us...
  8. He has been extremely disappointing so far this season. I can see this type of thing happening midway through a game, but definetly not on the line up sheet. It seems as though he's been playing with concrete in his skates, he's barely moving out there....
  9. I was also wondering the same thing, especially against the Leafs? Wouldn't it have been good to have him out there against one of the bigger teams in our conference?
  10. From what I heard, it's Roland Melanson's son.....not 100% sure about it, but I think I heard Pierre McGuire say that on the radio.....
  11. I like the idea of having a strong 2way player on Ribeiro's wing. Either Higgins, or maybe even Bulis, could fill that roll pretty well. From what I've seen of Ribeiro so far this year, I'm definetly not impressed. I was under the impression that he was going to excell in the new NHL??? What happened to that???
  12. In previous seasons, teams wore both CCM and KOHO jerseys depending on if they were home or away. Both brands were owned by a company called The Hockey Company. They owned the NHL contract to supply teams with official jerseys. Reebok recently purchased THC, and they're now transitioning the Jofa brand into RBK equipment. At the same time, to help get their name out there, they're putting the Reebok logo on the jerseys. This wasn't a montreal decision, but rather an NHL decision. Player equipment, such as helments, sticks, gloves, and skates, are sponsored based on individual players matching with individual companies.
  13. You also have to mention that guys like Plekanec, who are backchecking much harder so far this season, helps the dmen to be more aggressive. They know someone is there to back them up. A few times in last nights 3rd period, Jagr had a tough time looking for options cause of the hard work of the entire team in their own end.
  14. Don't really care all that much about Allison, but I'd love to see Lindros get stood up by Komisarek! I can't stand Lindros
  15. It's just too bad that Axelsson saw him coming...would have been nice to see him get plastered with an open ice hit..... I can't stand how he dives and complains all game long....

    Zednik

If Perezhogin plays well while Zednik is out, it'll be interesting to see what happens to Dags. He and Ribeiro looked totally disinterested last night. Compare their efforts to those of the guys on the 4th line, and you'd think that Ribs and Dags were old enough to be playing for the Leafs.....truly ugly hockey.... My feeling is that Perezhogin will play well on the 1st line, and when Zed comes back, Dags will be watching from the press box!
  17. I think it was more lack of effort than anything.....At one point Ryder was reaching to try to receive a pass, when he really could have taken a couple of quick steps to get there......then 5 seconds later, he's racing full speed to chase down a puck.....I think Ryder has good 'straight line' speed, but both Dags and Ribeiro looked like they were coasting all night..... has Dags ever passed the puck before? every time he touches it, he tries to shoot!
  18. I'd say if you're there before 5pm (when the offices clear out), you should be safe......
  19. What are you smokin' ? He has been send down to juniors ... can't play in Hamilton and can't be recall to the NHL ... it's next year for him. My mistake. all apologies.:hlogo: Much like Carter and Richards in Phili, Latendresse can be called up to Hamilton as soon as his season is finished, from there, if we're still in the playoffs, and the bulldogs season is done, we can call him up to MTL. ....I think.....
  20. I'm going to have to agree....He may not have lots of points, but keep in mind there's more to this game than just that.... He's chasing down d-men behind their own nets, and winning battles in the corners...he's taking and making hits, and getting good shots at the net. I've been to 3 games so far this year, and from what I've seen, I'd take him over Dags any day of the week..... I've also noticed, and this has been mentioned before, that Ribs has been feeding Dags every chance he gets...even though Zhogs is open in front of the net...and we all know Dags doesn't pass.....
  21. Isn't Ryder supposed to be in the line up for tonights game? Also, I'm extremely surprised to see that Sundstrom has yet to play a preseason game.....if everyone is battling for spots, shouldn't they at least have the chance to beat him out? Also, I think Perezhogin will be sticking around. Before the lock out last season, Bob Gainey was asked what he was going to do with Zhogs seeing as how he was suspended for the season.....his reply was something along the lines of "we'll find a spot for him here"...... I think Dagenais is in trouble....I think someone mentioned he was hitting in last nights game? I was there, and the only guy he hit, who actually moved, was the smallest guy on the roster for Boston......at 6'5" he should be a lot more dominant than that......
  22. I honestly can't see the Sabres trading Biron to the Habs, their division rivals.
  23. I was at the game again yesterday, and Hossa is playing much bigger this year. He's using his body to win battles along the boards, and skating much harder as well. He actually looks interested in making the team! Perezhogin looked awesome too, but similarly to last game, he doesn't seem to get passes too often....not sure what's going on there.... Koivu, Kovalev, and Zednik are going to be awesome this year! Danis looked shaky again....
  24. This is true, he probably has an extra boost being a local and all, but he does skate very well, and moves the puck with confidence....something Rivet and Brisebois can't claim.... He's also strong in the corners, and willing to stick up for his teammates....Like someone said earlier...he's probably the best 7th Dman in the league.... not too expensive either....
  25. I was at the game on Sunday night, and he was getting tossed around pretty good in our own corners. As someone mentioned, I don't think he was the power to clear the front of the net. I don't think it's a height issue (see Bouillon), but rather a strength issue. I see him ankoring our depleted blue line in Hamilton this year....
