saskhab
There is little chance to avoid arbitration because there is not many players that have up and lows as much as Ryder do. I can only think of 1 player that they can compare him to. Parrish at 2.6650 000$ We desperatly need his scoring touch so we could overpay this salary at 3.3m. More than that it is time to trade him and move on to another player on a first line and first PP wave. Almost anybody with some hands could at least score 25 with that kind of ice time. Except that Parrish took a discount per year for longer term to play in Minny (his home state, he basically stated he didn't want to play anywhere else when he hit UFA), and UFA contracts aren't comparable to RFA ones in an arbitration ruling. smon
A stat that his agents will likely love is that Ryder was 3rd in the NHL amongst forwards for powerplay goals Hard to assess where he falls in anywhere..a guy with similar stats and plus minus is Patrice Bergeron who had 14 of his 22 goals on the powerplay and was -28, but Bergeron is also a centre, younger and is more a playmaker than a scorer so he cant be used as a comparable. The arbitrator will have his hands full with this one
