jetsniper
Oh, they finally set a date. Cool. Still waiting for an Edmonton/Calgary one at McMahon.
Shu
Read this article a while back about it- Outdoor Game The made-for-television event would air across the U.S. on NBC, in what the league hopes will attract the largest audience ever to watch an NHL game in the United States. Once again, the NHL manages to shoot itself in the foot. Yes, great, another outdoor game; I watched the Edmonton games, and the Michigan/Michigan State game (well, thanks to Comcast, the third period only). But New Year's Day? Only the biggest college football day of the year? I can't believe anyone at NBC, let alone the NHL, thought it would be a good idea to broadcast a hockey game in the middle of the annual football orgy. Great, they'll get the thirty-five people in the country that are NOT watching bowl games to tune in... maybe. What idiot thought this was a grand idea? Pierre the Great
Not anymore the 'big' bowl games aren't on new years anymore. Not even the Rose Bowl is played on New Years anymore. Watch it be 75 degrees and sunny.
jetsniper
Haha, I thought about that too Shu. It doesn't really matter Pierre, even if the games aren't that day (and New Years this year had that fantastic Boise State win, one of the best games I've seen all year so thats nothing to sneeze at) college football is still the only thing on peoples minds. All they care about is football, football, football and won't bother to sit down and watch an outdoor game. They should've gone with bigger markets for this thing too, the Sabres and Pens won't attract a national audience no matter how good either team is. Pierre the Great
FOX owns all the big bowl games minus the Rose Bowl which I think is still ABC. Having an outdoor hockey game at 2pm would fit a programming hole.
