GOHABSGO22
Am I the only one that thinks a head shot, after the whistle, on the other teams best player, in blow out, should merit a suspention? This is what the NHL needs to get rid of and the Flyers as a team should be suspended for receiving 47 games in suspentions in one month. The flyers are going to kill someone this year if not stopped and the sad part is if Kovalev was knocked out and had to be taken off in a stretcher their would have been a suspention. JLP
Yeah, don't know, what's the status on that hit? Is the league reviewing it or was Kovi meant to writhe on the ice a la Ribeiro in order to have the league deal seriously with the elbow foul? JMMR
Kovalev will take care of him next game.
johnnyhasbeen
If the league was to review it he would be given the same as Williams for his high stick on Koivu, ie sweet poop all. These are the Montreal Canadiens, get use to it. We are not the hierarchy's favorite team.

But then again get use to it as Gainey won't pick up a tough guy to protect players. Just watch the big Leaf hacks go crazy tonight, and the worst is Sundin and his after whistle stick work. Actually, Kovalev WAS on the ice a long time, and it was a shoulder, not an elbow. Definitely not a suspendable offence.

Yes it was as the play had been whistled dead.
Tony
Under league rules, the hit was legal. No suspension there. Had Bergeron not been injured from Randy Jones' hit, he wouldn't have gotten suspended since the hit on paper was legal.
GOHABSGO22
The hit was illegal because it was afterthe whistle. Since it was the Habs best player and so late in the game with the score the way it was, it looks like intent to injure.
Tony
If it was after the whistle then yes, it's illegal. I was speaking purely on the actual hit disregarding the other surroundings.
BTH
The hit was a second or two after the whistle and was definitely unnecessary considering the situation and looked like intent to injure. If Jones got 2 games for his hit on Bergeron, Richards deserves 5-10.
