If you could have back any ex-Habs, who would they be?

1. Mark Recchi

He's always been great for the Habs, and I regretted seeing him go. It's still weird when he plays the Habs.

I will always think of him as a Canadiens, and if he had him back our Powerplay would improve, we'd have an experienced winger and a consistent scorer/leader.

2. Jocelyn Thibault

Good memories when Thibault was good. He was a huge star. Then, he got worse. He was never bad, but simply couldn't live up to his best performances so it looked like that. He recently made the All-star team. 2.69 career average goals against, not too shabby.

We have him and we have the strongest goaltending in the league.

His goalie mask was ugly.

3. Jozef Balej

The Canadiens defense needs some young energy now that the old wingers of this year, are getting even older.

He would be extremely useful.

Uhhhh...Balej is NOT a defenceman.

If I had to pick three....

In no particular order:

1) Recchi

2) Leclair

3) Vokoun

The 3 ex-Habs I'd want to fill the holes on this past years team would be:

1) Recchi - would've gave us 2 solid scoring lines

2) Thornton - could've used his grit on checking line

3) Schneider - we really could've used another good d-man in this past playoffs.

The 3 ex-Habs I'd want for the next couple/few years:

1) Recchi - the guy is just a good, good player

2) Desjardins - A good vet who knows what it takes on D

3) Brashear - not many goons can play as well as him. He could play 3rd line, in some games...

The 3 best(taking full careers into account) ex-Habs still playing IMO:

1) Recchi

2) Schneider

3) Damphousse

I'd say Recchi, Schneider and Leclair in order

On a sidenote i always hated that Turgeon for Corson deal. Corson gave us one good year while Turgeon pumped out 5 straight years of 60+ points with the Blues.

What's your least favourite trade?

Don't forget to mention than Turgeon was a former Captain.

Least favourite trade? I think that's obvious...

The multiplayer deal that included Patrick Roy.

Schneider, Desjardins, and Tucker.

We need the D, and Tucker has always been one of my favorites. Good physical play with some skill.

Has anyone noticed a trend of tough guys who leave Montreal?

Tucker leaves, has at least 1 20 goal season.

Same with Thornton.

And Brashear and Stevenson have put up decent numbers too.

I would take Brashear over Langdon any day.  But it doesn't matter.  A fighter isn't the toughness we need.  We need more guys like Begin.

I think we need more fast forwards that can score, nothing else.

And not Dagenais, I said "fast", and can score consistently. Kind of like a good version of Berezin.

It'll really help our Powerplay.

We would have dominated the playoffs with a good Powerplay.

No, we already have fast forwards. We need a good power forward, someone who can stand in front of the net and put in rebounds. And we definietly need better defence. Ours still sucks.

Just bringing up a point here. Has anyone else noticed the trend in big power forwards who disappear once the playoffs start? John Leclair has a goal tonight but has been a no-show throughout, . Todd Bertuzzi has a whopping 6 goals in 24 games career playoff games. Keith Tkachuk has 1 goal in his last 12 playoff games. We all saw what Owen Nolan did in the playoffs for the Leafs 2 years ago, he has just 10 goals in 48 games if you take away his 1999-2000 playoffs.

All of this while miniscule players like Saku Koivu and Martin St. Louis have hadf field days so far.

I don't buy that crap about size being everything. I'd like to see the Habs get a big tough forward, but it isn't essentiel. The size of the heart is what matters.
