dlbalr
Mayer is starting tonight?!?! Are you kidding me?!?!?! Yes, Virginia....there is NO Santa Claus !!!!!! They never mentioned the backup in the preseason games; I'm guessing that Desjardins is injured and hasn't dressed yet since the scrimmages in Sherbrooke. Still, that suggests Mayer is the #2 right now.

dlbalr
Feels good to post here in this thread...it's been a while Sure has, we need to get back in the swing of things and get some of the old Bulldog forum posters back around. Going to be nice to have real hockey to follow, been too long.
Lammy
Indeed. However, I have to miss this one...taking my GF out for dinner and movie tonight. She will kick my butt if I choose tonight's Bulldog's game over her. LOL So, anyways...... Let another season of Bulldogs hockey begin!! GO DOGS GO!!! dlbalr
Desjardins is out a week or two (lower body). Nattinen is DTD with the flu. Ellis is healthy but will be scratched tonight to give him more time to get game ready having missed camp.
dlbalr
Solid start for the Bulldogs who lead 2-0 after 1. Geoffrion had the first goal from Quailer/Gallagher, the second goal may be changed but as it stands, it's Palushaj from Nash and Holland. Bournival celebrated as if he tipped in the Nash point shot so it may be changed to him.

Good to see Holland and Gallagher getting some points even if they are secondary assists.
miklin
that p.a. announcer in Grand Rapids is a piece of work! I hate to see the transition of the p.a. guy, in general, from announcer to head cheer leader-just like in CFL football. I hope he's not wearing an AHL blazer like I've seen at other rinks. Derek tends to miss stuff when he's alone too-fight going on while reading a commercial for example-time to buy Al a ticket for the bus
dlbalr
Good to have you back, Mike. The 2nd period brought us the Mayer we all know and dislike. 2 goals allowed on 4 shots (including a shorty in the first minute) makes it 2-2 after 2. The shots are 24-11 Bulldogs. As for the 2nd goal, it's now Palushaj from Bournival and Nash.
miklin
Thanks Brian. Anyone else surprised Avtsin is getting another chance? ps-nice to see Lammy (Ian) back on the boards too.
miklin
Dogs win 4-3 in a shoot out. Michael Bournival with the winner. Mayer stops all five in the shoot out
dlbalr
Thanks Brian. Anyone else surprised Avtsin is getting another chance? ps-nice to see Lammy (Ian) back on the boards too. I'm not surprised. The skill is there, let's see if a new staff can work with him in practice. As for the game, the 4th line contributed a goal as Dumont scored from the goon duo...and then Mayer promptly went and coughed one up. To his credit though, he shut down the Griffs in the shootout, Bulldogs win 4-3. It feels oh so good to type and even better to click, bring on the banana! http://theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1009882

BlueKross
I am real happy to hear Lammy is back. I am wondering if it makes any sense to have an injury thread just on the Bulldogs and prospect side? Second question would be is the Wheeling site down or injured or is that just me? I'm going to get a general Bulldogs thread going like we used last year...I'm just procrastinating for some reason. We can use that for any injuries and whatnot. I'm also pondering one for Wheeling since there are enough Bulldogs down there.
