habs rule
Well that was before the trade. So? The Habs did not and could not have known, so what difference does it make when he was tested?
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
What a disaster this kid's career has been so far.
lazy26
So? The Habs did not and could not have known, so what difference does it make when he was tested? Sorry if this has been covered already, but wouldn't the Canadiens have been made aware of the fact that he tested positive at the time? If not, then disregard my previous comments. If not, then disregard my previous comments. no problem here is the quote from Big Bill: NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly released a statement Thursday that explained teams are notified about test results once the process has been completed. “We have received numerous media inquiries regarding the role and responsibility of the Montreal Canadiens’ franchise in relation to yesterday’s announcement of Jarred Tinordi’s suspension pursuant to the terms of the NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program. “While we are not permitted under the terms of the CBA to provide any further detail or timeline with respect to the facts underlying Mr. Tinordi’s suspension, we would like to state that we have no reason to believe or conclude that the Canadiens acted inappropriately at any time in relation to this matter. “NHL Clubs are not parties with whom information relating to the drug testing results or process are shared until a final determination has been made and formally announced by the League and NHLPA, which in this case was yesterday. The NHL has been given no basis whatsoever to consider reversing or revisiting the terms of the Montreal/Arizona transaction.”

Commandant
If in fact MB believed Tinordi was using, it would be based on suspicion rather than proof...because teams aren't allowed to test on their own (would have be be covered by CBA, which it is not). Therefore, for him to say anything to Maloney would put him on perilous legal ground, since it was just a hunch at that point. If a GM ever said something of that nature to another GM, and it got out...they would be sued. He was probably already busted, but not suspended cause the NHL PED policy has a lot of room for appeals before it gets announced. Unlike the discipline system (ie wideman) you are allowed to stay on the roster during the appeals process. The question is if Bergevin knew he was busted and Daly seems to say he didn't know.
