Laurent Dauphin re-signs

1 year, 2 way contract, $750 000

Just putting this here for posterity purposes since depth signings appear to be taking an aggressive backseat to playoff hockey discussion for some reason 🙄

Solid signing ... and with only 35 NHL games he still counts as one of the 13 "developmental players" that must be dressed each game  in the AHL.

No, he'll be one of the veterans in 2021-22.  AHL games count too.  This is the quick version of the rule:

A maximum of five skaters with 320 career professional games* played (as of the start of the season) can dress per night.  Teams can also dress an additional skater with between 260-319 professional GP as a sixth veteran (more than one in this group can play if there are fewer than five veterans with 320+ GP).

*Qualifying leagues towards the veteran GP calculation: NHL, AHL, NLA, Czech Extraliga, Slovak Extraliga, KHL, SHL, SM-liiga, and DEL. Only regular season games count towards the calculation.

Dauphin has 298 AHL games and 35 NHL games.  That's 333 which puts him in the veteran category.

D'OH

Missed the "professional" vs NHL distinction

I am D'OHing far too often in recent months ... hopefully just the cumulative effects of Covid isolation
