From NHL Central Scouting - Strong skater with a wide base, quick first two steps and his pivots and turns are sharp allowing him to gain time and space...has excellent balance, soft hands and a lot of confidence in his skill when rushing the puck...reads and reacts well to the play at hand...blocks shots and plays in all games situations. From ISS: A workhorse who's only going to get better. An offensive d-men who opened many eyes this year thanks to improved defensive play and excellent puck skills. Fischer played in a relatively poor competitive level but his skill level can't go unnoticed. Has a hard, heavy shot from the point that helps make him a tremendous PP triggerman. Montreal: Ben Maxwell, C, Kootenay (WHL) Scouting Report: In his second WHL campaign, Maxwell recorded 60 points in 69 games for the Ice. He then tied Ryan Russell for the team lead with eight points in six postseason games... can do a little bit of everything, but doesn't do it consistently enough to be considered one of the top prospects available in 2006... skates very well and understands the game with or without the puck... must take the next step with Kootenay in order to cement his prospect status... needs to get physically stronger so as to continue playing a rugged style in the pros... 50. Boston: 51. Colorado: 52. Washington: 53. Montreal: Mathieu Carle, D, Acadie-Bathurst (QMJHL) Not to be confused with 2006 Hobey Baker winner Matt Carle (San Jose Sharks), this Matt Carle is a bigger, right-handed version of the slick offensive defenseman out of Denver University. Like the Sharks prospect, Carle has great vision, makes a terrific first pass out of the defensive zone and owns tremendous offensive potential... led the Titan defensemen, and ranked seventh among all QMJHL rearguards, in scoring with 69 points in 67 games in 2005-06... owns great size for the blueline position, but must start utilizing better judgment when in the defensive zone in order to avoid the tag of power-play specialist... 54. Rangers: 55. Philadelphia: 56. Nashville: 57. Buffalo: [/size] 58. New Jersey: 59. Colorado: 60. Islanders: 61. Chicago: 62. Detroit: 63. KoZed
STL on the clock... 5 mins a pick for every team. I gotta feeling there'll be lot of delays and trade talks on this draft.

Pierre the Great
HAHAHA. LMAO at Bettman. Loved the booes. Staal to Pittsburgh. That team is going to be deadly when they get some experience.
KoZed
Staal lands in Pittsburgh. No trade with Carolina.
BTH
Tanguay traded to Calgary!!!! They trade a superstar to a division rival for Leopold and a 2nd. I feel bad for the new Avs GM as he got seriously schooled. I feel bad for you Jetsniper. The hilairous part is that Colorado had to dump salary BECAUSE THEY HAVE THEO! " Wow... for a while there I though the Blues' first pick was Jarmo Kukkolanen or something!" The same thing happened to me. I was shocked for a second. Komisarek the Cruncher
WOW, Tanguay for Leopold!!! :hlogo: What the hell was Colorado thinking?
KoZed
Chicago on the clock. Since they got Jack Skille, who has issues with Kessel, I doubt the Hawks will pick Kessel. I think they'll go with Toews instead. Kessel then might fall on the Caps' lap. I wonder if they'll pick him or go with a playmaker for Ovechkin and draft Backstrom instead. Pierre the Great
The Colorado trade was simply a salary dump plain and simple.
KoZed
Hawks pick Toews. Kessel still available. To think some compared him to Crosby a year ago. HA!
Komisarek the Cruncher
The Colorado trade was simply a salary dump plain and simple. Why drop a young guy like Tanguay...drop the old farts to save money. That was a terrible trade. Worst I've seen in a long time.
Pierre the Great
Why drop a young guy like Tanguay...drop the old farts to save money. That was a terrible trade. Worst I've seen in a long time. Some people just aren't smart when it comes to trades. St. Louis blues fans still cringe at the Pronger trade one year later.
KoZed
Caps on the clock. Kessel or Backstrom? Is Ovechkin popular or what? Caps pick Backstrom. Should make a nice combo with Ovechkin for some years. Kessel still on the board. Wow. Talk about being humbled. Looks like he's falling on Boston's lap. Trizzak
You guys are my eyes, ears, and - because I know little about the prospects available - my brain. To think, I go home to no satellite tv and dialup internet the day before the draft. I should have stayed in Toronto.
The-Habby2919
Kessel is in our Division. :hlogo:
Psycing
Tangs to Calgary is awesome. Ovenchkin making the pick: awesome. Koivu vs Kessel: going to be awesome.
