dlbalr
will there be one this year ?? I had fun doing it last year and would love to help once again this year!! There will be a mock again this year, I'm in the process of finalizing participants. at the moment Right now, there seems to be enough interest to keep it to HW writers but this is not yet set in stone. If anything changes, I'll be sure to get a hold of you as you were part of our forum crew last year. At this time, I wouldn't look for the draft to be up for a couple more weeks as we wait for the Finals to end (which finalizes the official draft order). Chris
Well i don't know about picking all the teams but i think the habs finally pick a centre. Kreider Holland Leblanc Would be my 3 top choices for the habs.

nam
Just throwing this out there as we all know Bob is unpredictable. Does anyone have some predictions for the draft? Anything from trades to the player they pick. From http://habsprospects.hockeyhq.net/ 2009 1st round pick - Montreal 2nd round pick - Colorado (from Montreal via Calgary - Leopold trade, Tanguay trade) 2nd round pick - Atlanta (from Anaheim via Washington via Montreal - Schneider trade, Huet trade) 3rd round pick - Montreal 3rd round pick - Montreal (from Atlanta - Schneider trade) 4th round pick - Montreal 5th round pick - Montreal 6th round pick - Montreal 7th round pick - Montreal And the next year as Bob may want to keep picks this year as its a deep draft and in Montreal. 2010 1st round pick - Montreal 2nd round pick - Montreal 2nd round pick - Chicago (from Toronto via Montreal - Lang trade, Grabovski trade) 3rd round pick - Atlanta (from Montreal - Schneider trade) 4th round pick - Montreal 5th round pick - Montreal 6th round pick - Montreal 7th round pick - Pittsburgh (conditional, from Montreal - Kemp trade) A few events that could possibly take place (make sense with various rumours and a few wishful thinking): Rights to Koivu to the Wild for Benoit Pouliot...or maybe weasel in a trade for Bouchard (although small and skilled is not really the need right now). Rights to Komisarek to NYI for one of 31, 47 or 56 picks. Gainey trades down (a la '06) and acquires a lower 1st and 2nd round pick. FYI NAZEM KADRI is a huge Habs fan. Draft: Leblanc, Kassian, Shore, Carter, Budish (Could be a steal this year), Caron, Despres.

BTH
Well i don't know about picking all the teams but i think the habs finally pick a centre. Kreider Holland Leblanc Would be my 3 top choices for the habs. I have the exact same three, Leblanc being my favourite. (There's a chance Jacob Josefson drops though, he might be a better pick). 7 Toronto Maple Leafs : Zack Kassian 8 Dallas Stars : Magnus Paajarvi Svensson If the Leafs really take Kassian over MPS, they're crazy! Chris
I'd take Kreider, he is a better skater and competes evey night. The Habs already have enough players with questionable work ethic. Nice job

Nice job I would take Kreider too if we didn't NEED a centre. We got ourselves into this situation and now we need to draft by position. Not according to Timmins...he has confirmed he is a 100% best player available guy. http://habsinsideout.com/main/20626 See end of article, where he wraps up with: "We don't draft for need," Timmins said. "BPA: best player available."

I'm sure he's getting a centerman and when he does he's going to give us the Bpa bs even it was clear he was aiming at a centerman all along. Habitforming
bpa works for later rounds but in the 1st round if you have a particular need you try to get it. I'm calling Timmins' bluff. I'm sure he's getting a centerman and when he does he's going to give us the Bpa bs even it was clear he was aiming at a centerman all along. It's easy to say who ever the habs take at 18 spot is the BPA because after 15 or maybe even 10th OA anyone could go anywhere. As for the draft itself, I think the biggest Habs news for the event will have nothing to do with who they actually pick Edited June 23, 2009 by Habitforming
Chris
BTH, Kreider is a centre.
dlbalr
BTH, Kreider is a centre. I listed him as a C in there based on what the CSB site says, but the majority of the other rankings/bios out there do have him listed on the wing. In our panel discussion, we treated him as a winger as well based on this.
Chris
Really? Even TSN has him as a centre. I guess we'll find out on draft day when someone picks him.

I saw him listed on TSN as a C/LW and figured it was a mistake, as I haven't seen that anywhere else. I'm pressure his natural position is at LW.
