Yes, but the leafs were constantly pulling pucks out of their net last year( I know, we have Carey Price). I'm with you though, I don't think centre depth is ever going to hurt you, but this team is going to need a top pair D moving forward.... Sergachev would have been a nice piece right now.

This is a solid return. Getting a Left D prospect would have been nice to see, but the centre depth for this team moving forward has a real chance to make some noise. I wonder if Kotaniemi would have been drafted, if this trade happened before the draft

Yzerman made out like a bandit in that Drouin trade I get that Sergachev rode Tampa's potent offense, but to put up 40+ pts in your rookie season (as a D-man) is impressive.. Just an unnecessary trade

Sometimes it just doesn't work.... Maybe part of it is Drouin never really felt comfortable down the middle.

Drouin plays an East to West game, while Pacioretty plays a North to South game. I think that's part of the reason those two never found chemistry. A lot of the time when Drouin enters the zone, he'll stop and try to set the play up.
