  1. And no other team would trade for him unless it included an extension.
  2. Do you really think there is any chance Treliving let's Nylander walk away for nothing? It's not going to happen.
  3. There is zero chance Nylander goes to free agency especially after what Treliving went through with Gaudreau getting nothing. Nylander will be signed by the Leafs or traded by the deadline.
  4. Unless he is getting traded there and GHT120 is ahead of everybody else on the story??
  5. I can't think of any veteran UFA guys they should target right now, maybe when they are legitimate contenders they can look at possible targets. I would rather see their younger guys get ice time at this point.
  6. I would absolutely agree, that faceoff in the last minute of play when you are holding a 1 goal lead is critical. One of the reasons Patrice Bergeron was so valuable. Also in today's NHL winning that faceoff at center ice in overtime is really important. It has been the difference between winning and losing games many times, especially when playing against McDavid/Draisatl, or McKinnon/Makar etc.
  7. As mentioned, Toffoli will be 32 next year and a UFA. This will be his last chance for a big contract and he will no doubt get a very good contract as he has always been a consistent goal/point producer, a good team guy and responsible in his own end. What makes anyone think that Montreal should outbid all the other teams in the NHL for his services. Hughes is much smarter than that.
  8. Agree with all your points, just don't see how Toffoli is a fit right now. Hughes will open up the wallet at free agent time when the Habs are closer to being a contender. Now is not the time.
  9. I think the original post was that Arber was a combination of Souray/Odelein which I think is accurate because he does have the size of Souray and a big shot and he has the heart and combative nature of Odelein.
  10. Yeah but it's a little wasted tonight. Could be a long year in Washington, that core is getting pretty old.
  11. Buffalo doesn't seem too tired in Ottawa, these are young guys in great shape. Tired is just an excuse this early in the year.
  12. Speed and momentum are key for the drop pass. It generally works well for Edmonton but not every team has a McDavid to drop the puck to.
  13. Again, these are results from fans not scouts. Hutson seems to be having a tougher time so far this year, perhaps teams are keying on him a bit more. Maybe good preparation for what he will face at higher levels.
  14. I think we are over analyzing. Last year Suzuki got off to a great start and then cooled off considerably. This year he has 3 points in 5 games, too early to worry too much.
  15. That's a pretty good description of him, I have always liked his competitive nature and willingness to work hard to get better. His offense is also under rated. He is great at getting pucks to the next and I would be surprised if he doesn't score 30 points if he stays healthy (I seem to use that disclaimer a lot). Boot sandwich - love it.
  16. I still think the 76/77 Canadiens were better but I have been wrong before.
  17. Yes, he should have taken a lot more time off to let it heal properly. He had a terrific 2018/19 season.
  18. I thought Tanner Pearson would have little trade value at the deadline. I might be wrong.
  19. I need to see at least 2 more games before I make that judgement.
  20. A big 29 year old center, a UFA, coming off a good year (assuming he has a good year and stays healthy) will not be cheap.
  21. What we got when we acquired him is irrelevant at this point. To get a 1st round pick to take on his contract was good asset management by Hughes. I am not saying we have to trade him but if there is a good deal on the table then it's hard to turn down. Dvorak has little trade value at this point.
  22. True, but I think Monahan more than most. He spent a lot of time in Sutter's doghouse because he couldn't perform like he normally could because he was playing hurt. He was a healthy scratch at times when he should have been on IR.
  23. I think you also have to take into account that Monahan played hurt a lot of the time with Calgary and some games with Montreal. Quite often hip injuries just don't go away. I love what Monahan brings but still leery about his health.
