I have to wonder if Toffoli had quietly and politely asked for a trade ... I know what he said about liking Montreal, and think that is true ... but he may have wanted a legit Cup run given his contract will be up before the Hand are a real playoff contender (i.e., not a wildcard chase)

I would look for a team with a $2.5-3.5M "bad" contract with 3+ years of term who hopes they can resurrect Gallagher ... rather than retaining salary ... you can more easily buy-out, or trade with retention, a smaller contract ...I say 3(likely++) yrs because by then the cap may be moving up and Brendan's AAV not be as much of a factor.

Hughes just said he had delayed his presser hoping to complete the "trade call" for Kulak ... TSN 690 a few minutes ago reported that another GM had said to "his press" that there was a 30+ backlog of deals with the NHL office

Nor next season ... the advantage to Weber's contract is really only for a team that wants to only spend to the cap floor (or slightly above)

I fear you may be right ... not certain THIS Lehkonen is the real Artturi ... but I don't expect his new contract will reflect that ... he could well be the new Armia cap-wise.

I've "read" that Hughes wanted McBain to agree to sign before making the deal, and he wouldn't ... it will be interesting to see how quickly, or if, he signs with the Yotes ... the weather is nice, the state tax is low, likely lots of TOI next season, and it has been proven that you can force a trade out of Arizona if you are unhappy ... there is even the possibility that his parents retired to Arizona.
