I don't disagree with your logic ... but not certain either Tartar or Danault accept a one year contract ... if they did, I expect it would be at least slightly more cap-costly than on a multi-year deal ... that would make upgrades (likely more like tweaks) more challenging

I was referring to Price (the subject of the tweet I quoted) ... not Caufield ... Always thought it made sense to bring Caufield along for exactly the reason you cite.

Why in the world did they even take him out west ... Price was always going to be out until at least Monday ... and doubt it is ideal for those recovering from a concussion to fly,

Most evaluations I read pegged him as a 3C ... not a top 6 centre ... not enough natural offence (IMO, and as said by many others, "the game" was not a harbinger of future success)

Primeau is already an Emergency call-up ... but still counts against the cap Only way an injury "helps" with the cap is if the player is on LTIR ... which means not another game in the regular season ... unless Price is projected as out for the playoffs too I expect they will want him to play a couple of times before the playoffs

Unless they make the Lindgren for Primeau switch to create the cap space to allow Caufield play ... the simplest variables would seem to be who to start in goal and whether Kulak plays or not ... OR ... could they simply emergency recall Evans to take Drouin's spot to get an actual forward on the 4th line and leave Primeau to start or back-up ... if Lindgren and Caufield work under the cap I expect Primeau and Evans should as well.

All were on goals by 2021 draft eligible, Josh Doan (son of Shane) and second leading goal scorer behind Farrell for the Steel ...

Much as the idea of Caufield is exciting the idea that some bad shrimp (or other food0 puts Lindgren in net is equally scary ...

So no Caufield? Would not Evans be the final call-up for the regular season?

I know poehling has found his scoring touch of late ... what about his 200-foot game? Unless Staal gets his act together the Habs may well need a 4C at some point in the first round ... is it automatically Evans or has Poehling played well enough to get a look?

Agreed ... after he retired it came out that even as far back as junior he didn't even like/enjoy hockey but was good at it and got positive attention as a result

Over the course of a season I totally agree ... but at any given moment in time he could be playing poorly enough that he could be.

Today ... hope none are "not-yet-positive carriers".
