  1. Perhaps, but (IMO) that he didn't change his mind once DD was gone shows that the "coach" was not the major reason for the request.
  2. That happened 45 games into Petry's last season in Montreal ... MSL was his coach when he asked for a trade ... don't think it had anything to do with DD at that point.
  3. Useless most of the time is still useless, regardless of size.
  4. Wasn't referring to hitting ... was referring to his only seeming to even give a damn occasionally, so that size is irrelevant ... if he regularly won board battles and intercepted pucks he would be a useful player and there would be much less reason to move him.
  5. *** IF *** Petry makes to training camp, I wonder what number he wears
  6. Wasn't projecting ... a possible 6/7 rotation D reflects that I also have little if any expectations for him. If he or WiFi could play the right-side it would be a punishing 3rd pairing ... if earned 😉
  7. I like the use of innovative methods ... time will tell if they did anything good.
  8. These posts seem like such "old news". 😉 😁 So nice to no longer have to discuss "the Hoff".
  9. Barring other deals (e.g., Allen), CapFriendly shows Habs with $10.6575M in cap space next summer; $21.1575M if Price is LTIR'd (or better yet moved ... HEY, I can dream) ... only Montembeault, Ylonen and Barron unsigned ... Samuel being the big unknown ... either he earns the starters job and gets an extension or they have to find another goalie.
  10. Barring injuries, likely more seasoning in Laval with a possible 6/7 rotation role late in the season or in 24/25 if earned.
  11. I believe many/most have to be submitted by a certain date (usually July 1s)... so maybve he didn't update it ... or maybe they HATED it in Pittsburgh ... but most likely I expect HuGo have promised Petry he will be dealt.
  12. Washington seems very committed to dinosaurs ... err ... veterans ... wonder if they might want to pair Petry with Edmundson? Petry for Nic Jensen? ... Jensen $637.5K lower AAV but one more year of term Petry and Dvorak for Matha, Trevor van Riemsdyk and right to swap first rounder in 2024 or 2025? ... contract one season longer than Petry but $1.6875M lower AAV, so perhaps easier to move down the line ... Mantha is a pending UFA, so helps with cap space next summer
  13. Still have 14 "NHL" forwards (including Slaf, RHP, Pezetta and Ylonen ... so, one of those (IMO Pezetta or Ylonen) goes to Laval to get to 13 forwards ... I expect Heineman starts season in Laval unless he cracks the Top 9 (hopefully he is more than a 4th liner). Moving Hoffman and Pitlick ... good (even if Pitlick was realistically always Laval bound) Added seconder rounder ... good Allen on market ... good (although DeSmith may be easier to move at slightly less than half the AAV) Veteran RHD to trade or stabilize D to start the season ... good Pissing off Mrs. Petry ... good Joey like
  14. Salary retention same as cap retention ... can't do one without the other.
  15. Trading Price's contract cannot make it easier for another team to take on all or part of a contract like Karlsson ... Carey would just go from taking up LTIR on Habs cap to LTIR for whatever new team.
  16. So Habs "only" on hook for $4,687,500 ... might make him easier to move.
  17. DESPERATE attempt by Bergevin to prove the '21 Cup Final wasn't just a "perfect storm"
  18. Unfortunately, from a cap perspective, Gallagher's injuries have not been comparable to Carey's ... Price's threaten his mobility in the coming decades ... unless you are a Leaf's fan trying to justify Murray's LTIR status(*), Carey"s LTIR staus is as legit as anyone across the league ... Brendan's injuries have been legit reasons to miss games but none have really impaired him being capable of playing once he recovered, just perhaps no longer capable of playing to the level previously achieved ... that is not a legit LTIR reason.
  19. He produced at a $6M pace for two seasons, and is getting paid it for six.
  20. But it does waste cap space next season, just as it has every other time ... didn't say it was critical, but it is a consequence of Gallagher, Hoffman and Armia's useless (IMO) contracts.
