shea weber's SJ series?? guy lost in 7 with an inferior goaltender (form) , playing against a very hot PP and still managed to score a game winner as well as play 50 minutes (tops) in a 3OT game. don't paint him out as having a bad series because he got beat on a few plays in game 7... the other goal he bobbled a bouncing puck (unlucky)

im saying he's out performed everybody who is trying to make the team.... politics at this point are keeping him on the outside looking in... not because other players are more ready then him!

hes been better then all of carr, andrighetto, hudon, lehkonan, and any other player trying to make the team...so YES based on play over 2 camps hes done everything he needs to start on the team and would be if MB didnt have a million one way contracts and an ultimatum with atturi to deal with..... your take on Mike McCarron is biased to say the least....

seriously though, McCarron has shown major strides heading into his 2nd pro season. early predictions of him being no more then brian boyle maybe a little premature as he's starting to show he can be more then that with consistent goal mouth presence. his performance at the rookie and main camp warrant his making the team... but oh the politics, namely david deharnais. my guess is he gets sent down temporarily (and does very well), while bergevin maneuvers in order to make room for him permanently. the pressure is really going to be on DD to perform this year!

Pretty sure Emelin is wayyyy ahead of barberio and Redmond on the depth chart....

Petry is skating with the rookie Russian... leafs dressing 14 opening night roster players... id like to see how Big McC fairs vs the saviours of leaf land Matthews & Mitch...

emelin has looked good all tournament playing what is essentially top pairing minutes... maybe he has finally come full circle since that late ACL injury of 2 seasons ago. now in his 3rd season post OP, maybe we'll see the guy who was playing pretty good hockey pre contract, pre knee!

ARe we forgetting that patches seriously injured his knee and didn't start training till 1 week prior to the season? He also wore a don joy brace on that knee for more then half the season I believe.... Just saying!

You forgot to mention how he was slow out of the blocks nursing his sprained knee ligaments LY.... On top of it all!

agreed... but like i said i dont think team canada took weber over subban.... subban was left off the team in favour of pietrangelo and doughty and burns. weber's style of play is like no other elite defenceman on team Canada... i think pronger was the last elite canadian defenceman of this type.

yes but seems this thread today has team canada fever now you must of missed that... i dont favour this trade... im a PK fan bno doubt. but im a Habs fan first... and a players fan second... so im moving on from PK as he's moved on from us... and I am going to hope for the best of weber and not speculate on how this trade stacks up years from now... FYI those 2 exhibition games looked like playoff games... guys getting run... super chippy, big hits dropped gloves etc.. CAN USA is creating quite the rivalry

im talking about weber and team canada NOT the trade... team Canada didnt get this wrong... they didnt in 2014 when weber led the D in TOI and the whole team in points... and these last 2 exhibition games are all we have to go by so far and if you actually watched the 2 games... it clearly wasn't a pre season nhl game So ya my analysis thus far of team canada's inclusion of weber as the #1 is merited... now lets see how pietrangelo and doughty and burns stack up.... cause they were taken over subban!

PK Subban is not coming into his prime... hes already in it! hes not gonna get faster, hes not gonna get quicker, he wont get stronger! all he can do is get better between the ears! he is extremely charismatic yes... but the most exciting in all of hockey? hes not better offensively then karlsonn... in fact the ott/montreal series of 2015 showed first hand how much better karlsonn actually is then him and they play the same game. shea weber in the last 2 games against a stacked USA team showed zero signs of decline... What declineis everyone talking about? at 31? its a joke that we are even suggesting that a 31 year old is in decline... let alone arguably the #1D of the best assembled team in the world... who was playing against the best...

Weber is a beast as evidenced in these last 2 games against a very, very elite team.... hes canadas #1D and looks and plays very much like the part... CASE CLOSED Team Canada HAS NOT got this one wrong... not in the least bit. if anything Pietrangelo Doughty burns and now Boumeester have taken up subbans spot on this roster and not Weber! is PK better then burns or doughty or pietrangelo? Weber led team canada in TOI and points at the last olympics while winning gold! say again how they messed this one up?

actually... i have yet to hear or read any current GM, coach or elite player say subban is better or that montreal got fleeced... if ive missed any please remind me who they are... Seems that the only people on the subban wagon>>>fans and media personalities but not the actual minds that are paid to run actual teams or play actual games.... as for poile... it was a no brainer this move... subban is a media darling that will help build the nashville brand... they need that!! i wouldn't doubt subban will be more important on the PR side helping to build the fan base in the music city. he's much more valuable to a small market team with his larger then life, bigger then the team character. the writing was on the wall the moment he announced his commitment to donate to the hospital in the atrium and not a single member of the habs organization was present... rumour has it that he kept it secret from the whole team and missed practise and then dropped the bombshell on the team that didnt sit well with anyone!!!!

Good point about the expansion draft. It is conceivable that MB has him already penciled in long term but only gave him one year to protect him from expansion without actually having to protect him

The real question is out of all the GM's, their assistants, head coaches and their assistants plus the very elite players.. How many choose Weber over PK Subban? Seems all point to Weber... Forget the stats forget the analytics. But if you poll Fans and now most recently media and journalists post trade and it points to Subban) cause before the trade seemed all PK did was wrong... Fickle Toronto media On another note I get that PK is much more agile then Weber but is he a faster skater straight away? Cause PK I don't even think was top 10 in speed on the habs...

I've watched that PK video like 20 times, my wife says I'm sick... Ya love sick lol His raw emotion and youthful exuberance is infectious... Makes you wanna dream! He entertains that's for sure... But long before PK subban I loved Larry Robinson and Stephane richer Mats naslund and bobby smith Carbonneau and PATRICK ROY Skrudland and keane Schneider and desjardins Koivu and Kovalev Etc.. I was Heart broke when chelios was flipped Completely devastated when Patrick was ousted And now shaken with PK... However my love for the CH is far greater.....

Radulov and semin are not the same except for both being Russian! Radulov has never ever been known for taking shifts let alone games off... Please stop referencing them together cause they are not the same... Let's compare him to Kovalchuk instead because he just left money and term on the table to come to Montreal for 1 season... If radulov performs the way i suspect he will (which is a star caliber) his long term deal will probably be upwards of 7+ not 6 (3 years 21 million) Of course his performance this year will dictate his worth!
