  1. According to RDS, Sven Andrighetto (I tried) has signed his contract.
  2. Can you believe this? I thought the Devil's twitter account was hacked or something but big bald Lou has confirmed it. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=427507 Does the language imply he's finishing up the rest of his career in Russia? They offering him more money there? I know Ovechkin mentioned giving up on the NHL due to the contract stuff during the CBA talks...but wowie.
  3. Kovalchuk announcements retirement....from the NHL. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=427507 Holy f-ing eff.
  4. Something has to give...Briere, Gionta, Gallagher, DD? What was Gionta's recovery timeframe?
  5. Yeah, I didn't see the extras until now. TSN had it as a 1 for 1 when I caught it. Wow, now that's a trade. And Eriksson replaces Horton. God help us.
  6. Habs will be healthier and the kids are expected to fill a larger role. Expect call ups. Hopefully a DD trade will be on its way. Where are the Igonla rumors already?
  7. Have I been sleeping under a rock? Giving up Seguin?? That kid led the team in scoring before barely having pubes in his shorts. Horton is gone, and this is how they react? Christ, Tukka must be asking for a lot. Who else they re-signing?
  8. I just got an RDS app alert that Gionta and MaxPac will not be playing tonight. Did Therrien just scratch his captain? I didn't notice him getting injured or bumped yesterday. Max played like shit, so i can see that as being a message.
  9. My little RDS app went off about 30 minutes ago saying that Blake Geoffrion has notified the Canadiens that he will be taking his retirement. Very sad to hear that his injuries have taken him away from the game. Can't imagine how he feels about that.
  10. I have a feeling if this kid gets a chance to play, Armstrong might be out if a job.
  11. It's a PR move to temper what everyone else is thinking: "just how sore is PK after swallowing his pride?" Pretty damned sore...that's a helluva comedown. You won't find many here who don't think you make more than 2 mil after playing 24-27mins per game. Don and him are going to make Molson pay out the ass in 2016.
  12. Makes you wonder about Subban. He put on like 15 pounds in muscle this summer too. I think in Max's case it was all in his legs with the goal of improving his burst speed. Certainly didn't show last night, but you could easily tell the players who have been in game shape playing in Europe or the minor pros vs. those gyming it.
  13. And yet they're still booing...geez whiz.
  14. Was that Markov getting the puck in the face?
  15. Wow. Who expected that to happen before camp even really started? I wonder who they have their eyes on to start with the big team. Bourque on the 3rd line leaving a spot in the top 6?
  16. I swore Dave Nonis was going to cry in that press conference. He isn't happy at all about taking that new job.
  17. Another sixer for a core member. Bergy is continuing to solidify things on that level. Doubt Subban goes that way, but still, very nice deal and a generous showing from Max. This guy could pot in 40 next year and would have been looking at a 5-6m per year deal instead.
  18. I'm not totally convinced NYR would be in the mix. The Nash trade changes a few things. Although the cash on the contracts exchanged almost add up equal, and NYR gave up 2.5 roster players for 1, having Nash's contract at that price and term might make it a considerable challenge to sign their young crop of up and comers. They are thriving on all these ELC gems coming into the woodwork. McDonough, Krieder, Hagelin, Girardi, Stall, Del Zotto , Stepan and Callahan and a few others will need contracts while they are sitting on Richards, Gaborik, Nash, Lunqvist contracts which are all north (or pretty close to) of 7 mil. Ok well Gaborik and Lunqvist will need to be re-signed around then too, but you'd expect they'd ask for same or more money. I think with the ELC guys playing like top 4 D's and top 6 F's, they won't be able to sustain another 5-7 mil guys on the books until '16-17. Sather is one crafty GM, but i can't see him sustaining all that talent in the lineup under the cap. There's the small chance too that the new CBA will prevent you from burying players in the AHL - so add Redden's 6.5m to that mix....although i don't know how much term is left on his contract.
  19. At this stage, do you think he'd settle for big cash in a bottom five team like the Isles? Yeah yeah we were bottom 3 this year, but in my opinion that was an anomaly year.
  20. Apparently someone in the East offered 7.5M x 4 years. I can't source that at all...probably pure BS from HIO, but .... unless gomez is centering gallagher and Leblanc....i don't see that as feasible (or logical) to meet that for a soon to be 36 year old 2nd line power forward.
  21. Apparently it's role of player development. Wow. I am stunned. Flabbergasted, even.
  22. And we might have some wiggle room after Subban signs.
  23. Great price, but he wouldn't of deserved more IMHO. Glad it was reasonable cost & term.
  24. And now both Parise and Suter to the Wild. Unbelievable. 13 years, 98 million. Identical deals for both.
  25. Maybe Bergevin is just adding to his connections circle by offering Moreau his first post-playing career job. They all gotta start somewhere and Pro Scouting (or scouting in general) appear to be the first step. I'm sure there is merit for this move.
