  1. Ya, i was confused too. i looked through the posts and there was nothing from colin. ???
  2. Gotta be careful there. Just as Halak shouldn't ride the pine for months on end, neither should Carey. Price needs to get a few starts soon, to stay ready
  3. I think hte team still looks bad in their own zone. I think this will improve if we can keep 2 lines attacking. The power plays will come too. The problem before was, there was no fear of forechecking hard against our defense. Teams could send three in deep without worrying about us getting odd man rushes. I preffered Carbo's transition to Martin's back pass, dump and change thing. First, all the coaches know we aren't allowed to stretch pass. Martin hates that. Second, our defense are like sloths, they are very slow, and third, they knew that they wouldn't get caught, because we only had one line. As long as that line isn't on, all is good. With two scoring lines, that all changes. These hard forecheckers will get caught. Some of those penalty calls were pretty bad, but in the end, Leclaire was amazing and the Sens were oportunistic and deserved the win. Pouliot looked awesome. I hope it isn't just adrenaline. I really hope to eat my words. I was always a fan of Latendresse, but this guy wsa fantastic tonight. Did Kostopolous make Lats and Laps better with his hard work? What happened to Laps? I know TK never took a night off in two years, maybe he was the catalyst. Trade Diago, or send him down and bring up White or Pyatt
  4. Habs toolbox, hat, barberpole jersey, t-shirt, beer mug, hall of famers book! I can't belive they found a toolbox with Habs stuff on it!
  5. I can't believe nobody is jumping on this. I'm getting my passport so I can do it next year. What a nice break from winter.
  6. when you look at it, it's pretty impressive what some of our bloggers and contributers do in their spare time.
  7. Well, I see one of two things happening here, and really it's up to Price. If Carey can bolt his head on right, Halak will be traded. I wouldn't trade him before the deadline, because there isn't enough time to determine if Price can handle it. 1. Carey learns to battle every game and stops being inconsistent...gets raise, Halak dealt. 2. Carey remains inconsistent....does not get raise. Halak get's the money Carey would have got.
  8. As usual it all comes down to the fans. We do not accept not making the playoffs! If Halak is dealt for a 2nd or a prospect, I will be surprised. If Halak is dealt, I'm not sure Price can carry the load, and get the team to the playoffs. We will rip Bob either way. Traded the wrong goalie and missed the playoffs... Don't trade him and lose an asset. I still think that based on his numbers, Halak will not draw top RFA dollars in arbitration, so as Jackp said, take the savings from Price if he is still inconsistent and apply it to Halak's contract. You have the assset for another 1.5 years.
  9. Price's record is no better this year, and i am not saying that. But he has faced the tougher teams. I arguye that if Jaro was playing these strong teams especially through the slump where the team was getting 7 PK to every 1 PP, Halak would have faired no better. I don't support either goaltender. These are the goalies we have. They are both good, and both have some big faults. As well as big potential. I would not trade either at this time. Here is Price's record. Pretty pathetic, but let's try to remember some of those individual games and how the team looked. I say keep them both. TOR : win BUF : win VAN : loss EDM : loss COL : loss OTT : loss CHI : loss ATL : loss BOS : win TBL : loss PHX : win NSH : loss CAR : win WSH : win DET : loss CBJ : win PIT : loss WSH: OTL TOR : loss BOS : win PHI : win PIT : loss ATL : OTL NJD : loss MIN : loss
  10. i will do it tomorrow night. it's no better, and i have not professed that it was. I am mearly saying that trading Price right now could be a mistake because Halak has really only had success against sub par teams. Price has played poorly this year in general.
  11. he just got 3 starts in a row. but ya, i know what you mean.
  12. work overtime to sign Pleky before the deadline. Keep halak, and sign him to a moderate RFA contract and if you can rely on Price trade halak at the draft for a move up in the first round. if price is still inconsistent, use the savings on price's low contract to role two goalies. buy out bgl, let mara walk. call up one maybe two defense from minors.
  13. Here is a list of the teams Halak has faced this year and the result. Anyone who thinks he is the saviour may want to study this list. I still think he is a good goalie, but I dont think he is any better than Price. Price has played poorly against good and bad teams, but if you look at Halk's wins, only two are against playoff teams. NYR and OTT. And those are arguable. He has been great lately, but let's compare apples to apples here. Again, Price has not played great for long stretches, but to trade him hoping Halak, who faces the leagues basement dwellers will save us, you may be sorry. That could change as he get's more starts, and he may start to dominate good teams, but the evidence is below. Halak CGY : Loss ATL : SO win NYI : Win NYR : Win NYI : Win PIT : Pulled/loss TOR : win CGY : loss BUF : loss OTT : win BUF : loss NYI : win ATL : win CAR : win
  14. Trading Halak is a tough call. To be fair, Halak HAS played the weaker teams, so the results are skewed. I don't wasnt to see him go though. he is a very good goalie. Price is not consistent right now. But, this team has been outshot in 12 of their last 13 games, and it's easier to face poor shots from basement dwelling teams than high quality scoring chances from the best teams in the NHL. Price lets in softies and then it gets in his head. I think Gainey should keep Halak. Martin should play them both and at the end of the year, make a move on one of them. I am not a huge Price is the savior guy. I do think that in 5 years we will say that Price is the better goalie. He just needs to mature some more. Right now, they need to play both goalies. First off because Halak's contract is too low and we are against the cap. Today it's so important to trade contracts too. So who are you going to get back that is a 750,000 guy? I need to see Halak play a few top NHL teams before I jump on the bandwagon. Beating NYI 3 times. Atlanta. Carolina and stuff is nice, but I need to see him do the same thing against Pitts, Wash, Buff, Bos, NJ ...
  15. That's what i did. i didnt even read your whole post. hahahaha i'm way too lazy to read a six page post.
  16. One problem with dealing Plek is that he is so good all around. If you look at his numbers, he plays more PK than any of the top scorers in the league. I do tend to think that this season's points could be an anomoly, but man that's a tough one. We also said that the only reason he was good was Kovy. He put's those Czeck sausages right on the tape. Thanks Hammer. If Bob can lock him down early for for 5 mill, he should.
  17. Coming off a bad season helps. One reason why Cammy got the big raise was consistency. Pleky had a bad season and should keep his value in the 4.5 to 5 million range.
  18. Why should Price get a raise? He has shown low consistency and so far has not earned one. I think it could be done. This team has a lot of money tied up on defensemen too, but the system has a lot of good defensemen. Weber and Carle are NHL calibre and close to NHL ready. Subaan should be a stud. They should bring some cheap relief at the back end.
  19. So, I was thinking, BOB'S A GENIUS! I mean if he wouldn't have got rid of that cancer Ribiero, Pleky would never have had to take his spot. Thank god he picked the right centre. Not that cancer Ribiero! heehee. discuss
  20. Ummmm, Pleky? 40 pts? holy crap? when's the last time a habs was 2nd in assists and 6th in points? Half way through the year. if Pleky is not signed, gainey should just quit instead of waiting to be fired.
