  1. Misleading poll. I voted based on who my favorite on the list was, but now I noticed the poll itself asks for who the best rookie is. Clearly, the best rookie is Dion Phaneuf. However, so far my favorite on the list was Marek Svatos. I've seen him play more than Phaneuf, plus the kid was a stud for my fantasy team. Phaneuf on the other hand, I could have had in a trade but I pulled out and ended up with Tverdovsky instead. UGH!
  2. Ok, so what does the President have up his sleeve?

They still have no pitching. Scott Kazmir is the closest thing they have, and he just can't seem to put it all together. They should score some runs, but I still don't see this team winning 75 games yet.
  4. What are you talking about? That hit was amazing and perfectly legal. Straka wasn't facing the boards and Gauthier leveled him with a shoulder. There was absolutely nothing wrong with that hit. This is the kind of hit I miss in the new NHL, where guys are less likely to lay an opponent out. Hockey used to be a much better combination of skill and physicality. I fear the new rules have eliminated too much of the physical play.
  5. Look at the facts: 2003-04 Kipper: 1st in GAA, tied 1st in SV%, only 4 shutouts in 38 gamesin the OLD style NHL 2005-06 Huet: 1st in GAA, 1st in SV%, 7 shutouts in 31 new NHL style games His numbers are equally impressive as Kipper's, if not moreso given that scoring is up in the NHL. I'm not saying it's a sure thing, but he FOR SURE deserves serious consideration if he keeps it up for the final 8 games.
  6. First of all, I assume you mean Turco and not Turek. Second, if Kipper started 39 games and made the final cut, Huet certainly deserves a shot. Top 5 are Huet, Legace, Lundqvist, Hasek, and Kipper. With Hasek perhaps out for the year, that hurts his chances a lot. As for Legace, I think his SV% just doesn't stack up against the others. I think Huet absolutely has a shot at being a finalist. He's top 2 in SV%, GAA, and SO. Like I said, if Kipper did it last season, Huet should have a legitimate shot.
  7. One of the others I have seen
  8. The new forum doesn't like to be linked like that, otherwise we would have it up.
  9. They are currently only one skin, which is why I was hoping more skins were on the way.
  10. MVP: Andrei Markov, one of the most underrated D-men in the league Rookie: Higgins, obviously Unsung Hero: Craig Rivet, who is having a career year offensively and is one of the team's real leaders. Undeserved Criticism: Mathieau Dandenault, who despite everyone complaining that he is the worst D-man on the team, has put up a +7 on the season. That tells me he is doing his job. Kipper played 38 games last season and was nominated, so I think Huet would be eligible. Tops in SV%, 2nd in GAA, 2nd in shutouts is certainly a strong resume. Kipper, Lundqvist, and the injured Hasek are strong competition though. His best bet would be for Emery to keep the job in Ottawa when Hase returns, otherwise I think Huet is for sure the odd man out. I hadn't even considered him for Vezina, but wow! His numbers are so good, it's hard not to consider him. Abby is an RFA at the end of the season. If Gainey sees Huet as the true #1 of the team, I can see him letting Aebi walk. Still justifies the Theo trade by getting rid of his salary, especially if Huet keeps up his play.
  11. It took me by surprise, but I didn't even make a sound. Was more mad than anything, I was sure I hadn't touched. So I played a few more times on mute, and I am 100% sure that I played flawlessly and still got the scream when I got to a certain point.
  12. Seen it before. Very lame. Seems like half the links people send anymore are things which require concentration, then explode with load noises. Especially lame since nothing even happens if you lose in round 1 and 2, but even if you go perfect in round 3 it happens. Wouldn't be nearly as lame if you could actually win.
  13. Well, that's an easy question to answer, because Saku Koivu's number is never going to be retired. That's just silly. How can anyone even mention him in the same sentence with the guys whose numbers hang from the rafters? Sure, he's a good player and a good leader, but he's not even close to being the type of guy who gets his number retired.
  14. I like the touch of red that has been added to the skin. Any chance we'll have multiple skin options soon? I miss the red skin from the old HW.
  15. As my team name would suggest, my picks f'ing suck.
  16. Remember this? Has anyone's opinion of this hit changed? Back then, people said they were happy to have a guy with a mean streak in the system. People disagreed with me that he looked very dirty on the hit. Based on the latest report, I'd say that most people will now agree with me that the kid plays the game dirty.
  17. I think it had more to do with his work-ethic, or apparent lack-there-of. While in Hamilton, he was known to stay out late at night on the town partying. He was once reported as showing up to practice drunk even.
  18. NHL Draft to Be in Columbus Pretty cool to get the draft already. MacLean kind of let the cat out of the bag the other night in an interview, this makes it official. I'll have to make sure I get there with my Habs jersey on.
  19. Wow. That's all I can say.

Wily Mo Pena is highly overated. His average sucks, his defense is the worst I've ever seen from a major leaguer, and his speed doesn't help make up for his poor baserunning. All he has is strength and power. I'm glad they traded him, but all it does it make the Sean Casey trade even dumber. Casey has been the best player on the Reds for a number of years, and they traded him for a crappy pitcher to make room for Pena. But then they trade Pena. Ugh, idiots are running this team.
