  1. I think that you get a little too excited about my posts. I said "so lets not put the blame entirely on the offense". You should quote me correctly. Montreal at the end of the season (AFTER THE LEAF GAMES) played like $%*^^&^&! They got in by another team losing, hardly encouraging for next year. In other words, why would you be excited about this. Souray was on so many hilight reels on TSN geting beat that I lost count. I really love the Sydney Crosby move when Souray tried to hip check and Syd just made him look silly. Classic defensive blunder. I want to see one thing. The Habs to get back to the glory years of winning Stanley Cups. Lets See.. Savard, Lapoint, Robinson all were fabulous defenceman with championship ambitions and abilities. Although I like Montreal's current defenceman(Cannot criticize hustle and heart) I do not feel they are in the league of say a PRONGER who is close to going to the Stanley Cup. If Montreal lands Elias for 7-8million, how does this help the offense? The other teams will just check him like crazy as Koivu and Kovalev are not offensive power houses. I will agree with you that the offense needs help, but one superstar is not the answer just yet. I won't argue with you about Theo as you have the blinders on and that is OK as it is your opinion and I will respect this. Jose will be OK in Colorado. Huet is a good goalie and I expect Abby to get traded for some help at the draft table. Montreal will be fine with goaltending for many years as Price will be the man one day. My opinion is that Redden and Komisarek paired together would be an outstanding combination. Redden is an outstanding defenceman and to just disrespect him like that is just not right. I have been spoiled watching all those excellent defenceman in Colorado. (Blake, Foot, The Boston Rental Guy, etc...) These are the guys that bring championships and what I believe will help elevate Montreal to the finals.
  2. Why would you be impressed with 13th overall as this is not good. I watched every habs game this year on the tube and the defence was medocre to OK, nothing that will win a cup. (Which actually was better than I expected at the start of the year) Yes I would pay the $7Mill for a defenceman in his prime and would improve the team. Besides, Montreal's "D" let Carolina walk all over Huet so lets not put the blame entirely on the offense.
  3. Yup! The 24 Stanley Cups and the habs fans wearing Jerseys in other teams rinks everywhere is an amazing thing. I have lots of respect for the Oiler franchise and there classy fans.
  4. This is the most likely plan from the Raptors as they really need help at Centre and Point Guard. Jose played very well for his first year and Mike James is only mediocre as point guard. Mike would be a fabulous Shooting Guard but he considers himself to be a combo guard which is just not right. Passing point guards are rare. Obtaining someone young who sort of has this ability is key. If trading down and obtaining Bargnani can be had than I believe the above scenario to be the most accurate. Any of you Piston fans remember the Isiah years? My uncle is a huge Detroit fan and I used to watch Isiah and the bad boys play when I was much younger. Lots of respect for that franchise. Go Pistons and Suns!
  5. I think righteous is a little strong but understand as Ontario is already bad for emissions and if we were sitting on oil too, Yikes! Alberta will try to do better as they have an industry that has intense value to our brothers and sisters in the USA. USA news loves to take on Canada's environmental record every once in a while. Although recent CNN shows have shown the great strip mining for oil without any thought to Alberta's environment. (I think the last one was "Funneling American's thirst for fuel") As the industry grows I have faith our fellow Canadians in Alberta will watch and question how the oil gets refined and what their government does to curb environment abuse. Personally, I am glad that Alberta is thriving and has a great future ahead of them as it has not always been this way and is well deserved for the people there. It would be a great thing for Canada to have Alberta become a powerhouse province in Canada to help balance federation.
  6. If the cap goes up to $43+ million, then the Habs could seriously go after a Redden. I would not pay top dollar for Chara or Jovo or Elias though they probably deserve it. Redden looks to me to be one of those defenceman that will be a real player in the future you can count on. Just my opinion of course...
  7. jetsniper I just read your post with the play by play and almost fell off my chair laughing. I thought you were going to have a heart attack! Now just wait until next year when the Rebuilt Avalanche make it to the finals. WooHoo I hope to see this kind of enthusiasm next year.
  8. This is another thing that shows Quebec is a forward thinking province. Thinking ahead with child care was a brilliant stroke for families and being able to take the initiative on pollution control is a great idea. (Are you listening Ontario?) This article gives me hope that our Prime Minister may just table something that is solid for the environment and show he is different from any other federal party.
  9. Ooops, I forgot to add in my previous post one thing. Fun and Happy part for me is this website and the great reading of so many thoughts. I find this board has many bright people and the age makes no difference. The fun part is we all enjoy sports which is a common thread for all of us so Thanks People for making this a fun place to post. B) :hlogo:
  10. I'm hope they look at Aldridge also. There is just noone that can stand toe to toe with Shaq and everyone that want Magloire has to realize he wants around $10mill per year as a free agent Centre in 2007. It would be nice to have a big front court and Aldridge fits the bill. (Anything is better than Woods and Hoffa)
  11. I do not expect Prime Minister Harper or any Canadian politician to take the environment seriously. Strip mining in Alberta to dig out the oil has gone on for quite a while now and will thrive under the new administration. They have no incentive to bring in harsh pollution controls. (This is not Harper bashing, this is Canadian Politician bashing as elections are not lost on the environment) Can you supply one shred of evidence(Bill in the House, research Papers, Laws on the books etc.) that our right honourable Prime Minister is for the environment? If you cannot than your above statement may actually be just the type of non-facts that you are criticizing the media about. Personally I don't think our Prime Minister is a polluter or anti-environment but i have no proof and as such is my opinion. I like the man and hope he does well in his first year as the leader of our country. I have to agree with you as Kyoto is a very flawed agreement that just makes no sense. Anyone can write an agreement but implementing it is an entirely different thing.
  12. Now that is the most funny thing I have read in this thread. Probably true as well.
  13. Thanks, I forgot his name and wanted to look this up. The bad is he is a politician, the good is that he is forcing polluters to at least do something. Ah to walk out the door and to breath in a big breath of fresh air. cough..cough..cough
  14. I am glad to see Edmonton doing so well in the playoffs. I can remeber the Gretzky years like it was yesterday. Now when the Habs get back to the tradition of competing for cups life will be good again. The Avalanche for some reason never worry me if they will make the playoffs and challenge because, well two words JOE SAKIC!
  15. I have to agree with the group. Lots of flash and dash, but the "Where is he?" question often heard in the playoffs would concern me. Now if the Isle traded their next two first round picks, took Bonk in return, and promised to take Zed to try and match salaries....mmmmm maybe!
  16. Does one have to pay to jump on a bandwagon? I know there is a surcharge to jump on leaf bandwagon as not every game is free any more. LEAFTV.
  17. As one AVS fan to another, Forget About It! Colorado is a deal making team and rebuilds on a whim. As long as the Sakic line can be retained don't need any of the Tampa forwards. I know there are many here that probably don't like Jose but at least Colorado has a good goalie, not bad(not great) blueline, and some impressive forwards. I wait to see what Bob Gainey does with Montreal as much as I wait for GM ?????? in Colorado to see what that person does. Sometimes I think the offseason is as much fun as the real season due to all this speculation....
  18. Jagr is interesting as he has played well, and is paid many $$$$millions by Washington as part of the trade.
  19. Rick Berry is an interesting idea. Defenseman that shoots left, 6' 2", Weight 213lbs and played for the Avalanche in 2001 and 2002 seasons(His only NHL stint). He would be an inexpensive 9 year hockey veteran for depth. Not a real threat for points as he only had around 13-14 points in the AHL for the Milwaukee Admirals. I only remembered this guy because he played for the Avalanche. This is the kind of players to at least take a look at. I remember in Toronto sports section of the papers (Near last page) they question Montreal getting Garth Murray. hehehehe now we all know how that turned out. Plus anything named Hossa is just soft when the going gets tough. (I know cheap shot, sorry) http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues...0026122006.html Ooops, I hope that is teh correct Rick Berry as it is the only one I know of. Otherwise Egg in my Face.
  20. dark_faerie87 you have summed up my thoughts. I wonder how they can get a top notch goalie now as they have no room left for quality goaltending.
  21. Yup, I kind of thought they were going to keep him and nobody else really had a chance. This means other guys onTampa (probably Free Agents) won't be resigned or lowballed for offers. Montreal is on the right track, they will be fine.
  22. Hey I like the Roenick idea. He speaks his mind and shows up every game. His only downfall is he called Toronto the Mecca of Hockey :puke: Well nobody is perfect...
  23. After reading this thread it worries me a little bit about how the hearts of many are becoming hard to religion. Recently I have let religion back into me life, not because of any recent events. When I read how a minister lets politics dictate the flock members, I know this minister is destined to be in the book of H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks. We were warned about false prophits or those that do not speak the truth and this gentleman is one. I am Catholic however I am looking for a church that teaches the word of God not just going through the motions. It does not have to be Catholic, just an honest open arms church for true belivers. Fortunately for me the Pope does not represent what I understand religion to be about. He is not the judge of the country I live in and his words make no difference with my personal relationship with the creator. I understand his views about keeping marriage(Church, not State) a sacred vow between man and woman and agree. His plan should be attracting people to the church, not being a busy body that drives people like me away.
  24. I know New York sued the major polluter Ohio Edison Co. and won so they have to spend roughly $1.2 billion in upgrades to kill the smog output in Ohio. Now the same Attorney General is trying to sue Ontario with words like Ontario's coal fired plants "MAY" not meet Ontario clean air regulations. Is this guy for real, Canadians do not sue on a hunch, we need facts. I hope they do have some power with NAFTA though as it only makes my air cleaner.
  25. Hi Pierre. Uncle Sam and Canada are fine now that we have a pretend Redneck in power here. Personally I do not mind the Republican party and understand the platform. Unfortunately President Bush is a big spender which defeats traditional conservative movements. I hate talking politics as there just no politicians that are not bought enywhere in the world. I don't mind your president at all. To answer your research, in Ontario it is about 53% cars 47% trucks for sales. I cannot speak for all of Canada as each community differs like New York would compared to North Carolina. Different needs dictate sales. Truck sales used to be huge but things like Smart Cars are taking off. Daimler sold 25,000 of tehm in Canada last year. USA to get them soon. What gets me is before Kyoto, the Bush Administration rewrote environmental law for coal fired plants that they did not have to make clean air changes until they upgraded their plants. Now 600 aging coal-fired power plants, mainly in the East and Midwest USA are among the biggest sources of air pollution in Ontario, Rhode Island, Buffalo and New York. Ontario had 3 plants, now two as Mississauga was shut down. Yet Canada is a guilty polluter according to US governors seeking election victories. These politicians should look in their own communities. The Sammis plant in Ohio has four smokestacks, one of which is 1,000 feet tall. By contrast, the Empire State Building in New York City is 1,453 feet tall. The Sammis plant is made up of seven power-producing units that collectively emit nearly as much sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide as all of New York’s coal-fired power plants combined. Now lets compare this again, Ontario has TWO coal plants that pollute. Hmmm......
