  1. Amen habsfan. It's funny when Price or Lats struggle it's send them down When Huet or Ryder struggle it's let them work it out.
  2. The Habs don't need another D man. A pick or prospect is what they'll get for Ryder. paired with Halak you may get a potential young scorer.
  3. I don't know why everyone always wants a scapegoat. Lats ghas been one of the more impressive forwards the last few games. The bottom line is the Habs don't show up some nights and they lose. No excuse not to come out charging on a team that played the night before. The ggod games far out weigh the bad ones so far this year and the effort is way better. Learning to win takes time. Game Summary is simple: Weak Goaltending No effort in the first Didn't play very smart Had no idea how to handle Sundin's line. Too much perimeter play No one going to the net Other info: As I stated Gorges in Bouillon out is no difference in the third pairing, Gorges does make better passes and skates much better then Bouillon. Bouillon could be added to a trade to a team that is light in the D. Ryder can be moved, The Habs either need to trade or get a top line RW. (Kosty) Huet will soon lose his starting job. been very shakey the last 2. I want to see want to see how they react tom night. 5 out 8 points is mandatory on this home stand. Alot of division games, will seperate the good teams. Are the Habs good enough?
  4. They could package him and Ryder to a west team for a young player or pick.
  5. It's a good thing the posters aren't running the team. If a youngster struggles a bit everyone wants to trade them. BG is not going to be moving the talented youth, struggling or not. Only if the Habs have a shot at the cup will he pull the trigger. He finally has good talent and depth, why get rid of it? Ryder, Huet and a lesser D amn are probaly the only people he is willing to move who have any trade value.
  6. Well I'm not sure who that team was wearing Red last night but it was sure nice to see. Everyone played well for about 50 minutes. After Philly scored i though they were back on there heals for a bit. Was it me or was Huet a bit shakey last night? 3 posts never moved and didn't the second goal either. Anyway just splittinghairs, hard to complain about that effort. Kosty and Lats looked better last night. I think Ryder can sit the next one out, he is struggling. D was solid although Hamrlik took too many penalties. The 2 best things about the game: 1. They actually stood up for eachother, 2 fights in 2 different games, unheard of in the past. They almost have as many fighting majors already as they did last year. Sorry Bachus. 2. Total team effort for atleast 50 minutes i'd say. This is the year they are learning how to play the game to win, to play hard and to play smart. They'll make mistakes and cough up some leads but that's how they will learn. Losing is a hard habit to break.
  7. Kosty can't go down. I think if he is brought up on waivers he can be taken on re entry waivers. just because he doesn't play every night why do people think he is going down. carbo is waiting for one of those 2 to take the position. That's why they keep switching. Neither one of them has stepped up to take it.
  8. I am shocked about grabs, i have no idea what he brings to the team. Maybe I'm wrong but i haven't seen anything but his speed to warrent him being an NHL player. Chips and Price are no brainers. They are here to stay.
  9. I don't remember the second one but (not an excuse) he was playing his off side. There is criticism for many D-men yesterday, Brisbois was just as bad. So the criticism should be the same for everyone. Price is the only one who showed up last night.
  10. Well that would be the criticism. He does nothing productive on the ice. Sure he is fast, he hustles but doesn't win any battles or score points.
  11. It doesn't imply anything. Maybe he was in town to watch his client. Maybe he had a date.
  12. Man EasyRyder, a little tough on Gorges huh? If those other players were better then Gorges they would be playing. Goorges is fine, he had one bad play. I don't rercall you saying anything about Kovalev Markov and Komi watching Perron put one home as they stood around and watched. To pick out 1 player in that pathetic effort is ridiculous. That was a total team failure and Higgins and Koivu said as much. Talk is cheap, so it's to the team to improve the effort in the next game. There is no excuse for not working hard. The forward lines need an enima: They have been really poor 5 on 5 again. They are too much of a perimeter team that doesn't skate. Lats Koivu Kovalev Higgins Pleks Kosty Grabs Smoke Dandy Begin Chipchura Kosto. Is it just me or is Brisbois scared to take a hit to make a play? Why is it as bad as they played, they take the lead, immediately after Brisbois throws it over the boards for no reason, he was barely pressured. The Habs as always lose there composure and fall apart for the next ten minutes. The next time they score they should take a timeout and settle everyone down. If you told me at the beginning of the year the habs would have only played 2 bad games out of 11 i would have taken it. SO i am interested in how they bounce back. You can't be considered a contender by taking days off.
  13. I don't think the coaching has changed much from last year. I think the message is sinking in FINALLY, play hard, play smart and you'll get the ice time. If you don't, you'll be in the press box or looking for work. It's refreshing to see. But I do agree these coaches bring plenty of upgrades to all departments of the team.
  14. Well thankfully Carbo and the brass have bigger goals then just beating the Leafs. If the Habs keep playing like this all year they will be fine. They are playing way better then the past 5-10 years. We will all find out soon enough if the players are buying in or not. I just don't get all the Leaf references all the time. In case you guys haven't noticed the Leafs do beat the Habs more often then not.
  15. There are still a few contracts and players who need to go. BG has done well to get rid of alot of players but there are still some players who aren't doing a whole to earn there money. It will take probably until the end of next year to perform the complete exorcism of the team. Then the turnover will be complete. On the bright side Bouillon is better then last year which isn't saying a whole lot but it's better then nothing. Dandenault has as many goals as Kovalev? Atleast the team is playing significantly better, playing harder and working for about 40 minutes a night. The next step is to smarten up and finish games.
  16. Why is everyone all fired up about Kosty, he played ok against Pitt but again, he had several turnovers at the blue line and wasn't very physical. This is what Carbo wants. I don't think Grabs is any better but i think he will continue to swith the 2 until someone takes that spot. You guys make Perez sound like a 40 goal scorer or something as much as people complain about him. He is gone, get over it. He took stupid penalties and many shifts off. Good for Price, i think Carbo is doing a good job with changing goalies, everyone knows Huet can't play too many games, he can be very streaky and is injury prone. 50 or so games is enough. Plus it gives the team a reason to work hard and not overlook Atlanta.
  17. Yea, i actually thought Gorges was pretty good in his game he played. With back to back games and the schedule picking up i expect him and Kosty playing more. I do expect a move or 2 soemwhere down the line to Lapierre up and getting the D numbers down by 1 or 2 depending on O'Byrne's play. I want to see a much better effort tonight then the last time they played, 8 shots after 2 periods is embarasing.
  18. Kosty wasn't playing aggressive, he was turning the puck over alot at the blueline and not making anything happen. If you know Carbo that's why he sat. There are back to back games don't be surprised if both Gorges and Kosty play either tinight or tomorrw. Just like Price will play in one of them.
  19. Fisher is doing fine at Minnesota, i saw a few of his games. He is on the secong pair of D and the top PK unit and the second PP unit. I haven't seen his stats yet. I think Minnesota is only 500 so far this year. He will definitely need 1 year in Hamilton on the small rink, Minnesota and alot of other rinks in the WCHA are olympic size. He looks to be a Preising type player, smart, smooth skater, good passer and smart in his own end. I saw a bit of the Wisconsin game over the weekend and McDonagh was on the third pair and on the second PP unit. Hard to say how he did they crushed a lesser team.
  20. Ek says they were looking at Avery. The Habs are in need of another top 6 forward, center or LW. Some one who can actually score, not another set up guy. Lats and Kosty have been playing there off wing. In reality the Habs can move Ryder, Bouillon or even Streit. I know everyone will be mad about him but they do have Gorges and O'Byrne to fill a right side D. They definitely won't move a top 4 D guy, they finally fixed the D in all 3 zones so you don't want to mess that up. Dandy is a winger now, he isn't going back to D, They have good depth for the third and fourth lines, Lapierre is still in the minors to come up. Whatever the case is they finally have some talent they can move to address a specific need which is nice to see. only time will tell on an actual move. Only when things are does Gainey do something. He probably just had dinner with Sather and other friends.
  21. Moving Ryder wouldn't be a bad idea right now. I would go for a pick or prospect though. I like Horcoff but i beleive he is a center, the habs have alot of quality there, just not a super star. Kosty could move to the top line on his natural side if ryder is moved.
  22. Yes, overall a very solid effort. Good work by many Habs. I thought Boston held them in check pretty good the first half of the game, then they started rolling a bit. It's certainly nice to see everyone (all 4 lines) doing well and contributing. For the first time in years the small Habs might not be worn out half way through the season. This team is certainly working harder and more physical then in the past. 2 tough games coming up, i expect Gorges, Price and Kosty to be in 1 of those games. Only bad news: Quite a bit of turnovers (Streit especially) Pk i thought was pretty weak again
  23. I'm just glad it wasn't another Habs D man getting undressed for a change. Don Cherry got the night off from picking on Souray.
  24. Well the same thing can be said about the players not working hard and taking dumb penalties. I'm sure that discourages the coaches.
  25. I think the problem may be his team still takes stupid penalties. My face looks like that after i watched Kovalev take a dumb 2 at the end of the last game. :lool:
