  1. Sorry, I snipped most of your post, but I wanted to address the crux of your message. Better players, yes. You don't mention goaltending, and you say that the Trident Pitchfork has been great (plus we have some solid D prospects). But up front, we were again frustrated by the lack of scoring. Kotkaniemi and Suzuki looked great for a pair of 20-year-olds, and Danault was solid. But I think we need some wingers who can put the puck in the net. Caufield may be one of them, but I think he alone will not be enough.
  2. For sure it does not make the third period any easier. 😬
  3. Time for Captain Kirk to make some changes for the second period, to get things happening. He has the last change and he should be able to take advantage of it.
  4. Ouch. Not a good start. Outshot 10-5, and two of those five shots were on the PK ...
  5. Both Armia and Gallagher are playing hurt. If the rest of the team continues playing the way they have been, all we need is a goal or two from those four wingers. And let's try to cut back on the number of penalties ...
  6. Yes, Kulak belongs. We should rename the Trident to the Pitchfork!
  7. We did start with a rumour (from TVA Sports), but as so often happens, we digressed from that! Sorry ... 🙁
  8. I think Hall will get much more than $6M, even with a flat cap -- there will be less crowding at the top of the UFA market. And $8M+ for a 70-point guy seems steep. On the other hand, you probably need to be somewhere in the $5-6M range for a 50-point guy like Toffoli ($4.6M currently) or a 55-point one like Granlund ($5.7M but has fallen out of favour in Nashville). But the latter two might not require anywhere near the same length of contract as someone like Hall. I would really hate to sign a scoring forward to beyond age 35, they generally will age much faster than defencemen -- or goalies. I think this ought to be the year that you can really make an offer sheet work. Vince Dunn, anyone?
  9. Well, my daddy left home when I was three And he didn't leave much to ma and me Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze Now I don't blame him 'cause he run and hid But the meanest thing that he ever did Was before he left he went and named me Sue (...) And he said, "Son, this world is rough And if a man's gonna make it he's gotta be tough And I know I wouldn't be there to help you along So I gave that name and I said goodbye I knew you'd have to get tough or die And it's that name what helped to make you strong"
  10. While I might choose different words, I do agree with your assessment!
  11. Well, "complete crap" is a bit much, but for sure he's not ready. Evans and Belzile are much closer today. In a year or two, the situation could be a lot different.
  12. Gallagher and Armia both. We need Domi and Drouin to step up.
  13. For sure, he needs to work on faceoffs. That will likely come with experience, though.
  14. Kotkaniemi tops all Habs forwards with 19:04 TOI. On the Flyers, only Coutourier is higher.
  15. Nice rush by Lehkonen at the end of the PK, just a touch to the left (or right) and it would have been in the net instead of Hart's mask
  16. Fair enough. I only remembered one of those. Two is definitely better ...
  17. The pace of the game looks much better (for us) in the third.
  18. Ouellet had more PK time than Kulak. On even strength Kulak played somewhat more.
  19. He may have just decided that he’s had enough of this; I think he has earned over $50M to date so he could decide that it’s enough, and he’d rather spend his time with his wife and kids.
  20. But, in the meantime, I think we do need a set of bananas to celebrate this game!
  21. Now THAT would be a terrible fate!
