  1. Yes. If they still continue the regular season. Otherwise the Rocket will be done for the year.
  2. No chance of fitting a side of bison in my condo's freezer!
  3. I do think Molson cares, and has a plan to do it. His plan may not be a good one, or you may not agree with it, but I do think he intends to get the Habs back to their winning ways.
  4. There is a chance the regular season may be over at any time, thanks to the coronavirus panic. So it's good that we are in a decent draft position at this time already.
  5. Halak will be a UFA. I think he might have a few years of hockey in him yet.
  6. The Rocket has really turned a corner after shipping out their disgruntled vets. They lost Kotkaniemi but hopefully Ylonen will be in the lineup soon, and help in that run to the playoffs.
  7. Quite. We can only hope that both Kotkaniemi and the Habs learned from that experience, and that he will be undergoing a rather different training regimen this year, including a lot more skating. He did play much better in Laval, in the dozen or so games that he was there before his injury.
  8. Very unfortunate, but it's pretty much what I expected once I found out it was a spleen injury. The bright side to this is that it is not an injury that is likely to recur later in his career. And he will have six months to rehab, and to get his game into shape for next season.
  9. Based on BPA, presumably -- and someone's prospect rankings. Habs will have their own BPA rankings, which will vary somewhat, even in the first round. And we might yet have a chance to pick in seventh overall, too, but I think anything higher than that is quite unlikely.
  10. Sure, yes, hindsight games are fun and easy. Columbus picked fourth overall and took Zherdev, missing out on Vanek, Suter, Phaeuf, Carter, Brown, Seabrook, Parise, Getzlaf, Burns, Kesler and Perry. Rangers picked 12th overall and took Jessiman, missing out on Brown, Seabrook, Parise, Getzlaf, Burns, Kesler and Perry. Islanders picked 15th overall and took Nilsson, missing out on Parise, Getzlaf, Burns, Kesler and Perry. San Jose picked 16th overall and took Bernier, missing out on Parise, Getzlaf, Burns, Kesler and Perry. If Parise, Getzlaf, Burns, Kesler and Perry were such obviously better picks, why did those other teams miss them, too? (And, yes, Kostitsyn looks elite now compared to Jessiman ...)
  11. From Scott Wheeler's evaluation on The Athletic (he ranks Harris as our #2 prospect, ahead of Romanov, Struble and Poehling):
  12. My guess is that he’s gone for the season. https://www.sportsmedtoday.com/spleen-injuries-va-237.htm I do wonder what kind of check it was that caused the injury.
  13. The Canadiens (31-29-9) visit Florida (33-26-8), with plenty of Habs fans guaranteed to be in the stands. The Habs' season looks to end early, but the Panthers aren't doing much better. Canadiens' projected lineup Artturi Lehkonen :: Phillip Danault :: Brendan Gallagher Charles Hudon :: Nick Suzuki :: Joel Armia Paul Byron :: Max Domi :: Jordan Weal Lukas Vejdemo :: Jake Evans :: Dale Weise Ben Chiarot :: Shea Weber Brett Kulak :: Jeff Petry Xavier Ouellet :: Christian Folin Charlie Lindgren Carey Price Scratched: Karl Alzner Injured: Jonathan Drouin (ankle) Tomas Tatar (upper body) Panthers' projected lineup Jonathan Huberdeau :: Aleksander Barkov :: Evgenii Dadonov Mike Hoffman :: Erik Haula :: Frank Vatrano Dominic Toninato :: Lucas Wallmark :: Brett Connolly Colton Sceviour :: Noel Acciari :: Mark Pysyk MacKenzie Weegar :: Aaron Ekblad Riley Stillman :: Anton Stralman Keith Yandle :: Mike Matheson Chris Driedger Sam Montembeault Scratched: Josh Brown, Aleksi Saarela Injured: Sergei Bobrovsky (lower body), Brian Boyle (upper body), Dryden Hunt (lower body) Current playoff probabilities (from The Athletic): Habs: 3% (projected to finish 23rd) Panthers: 21% (projected to finish 20th)
  14. 54 points in 59 games. Pretty similar to the Habs!
  15. No score after the first. Shots 7-2 for the Rocket.
  16. And a great five-minute video on the Pocket Rocket from Sportsnet:
  17. Lots of commemorations from NHL teams, leagues and other notables. But an Original Six post deserves to be here:
  18. The Pocket Rocket is gone to the big rink in the sky. His record of 11 cup victories will quite possibly never be broken.
  19. I would love to see Lindgren get another start. The remaining games are meaningless anyway so why not give him half the starts and see what he can do?
  20. Another 3-0 win for CSKA, but Romanov had only four shifts for 3:04 of ice time. Did he do something wrong to get benched, or did he get injured in the game? I can't find any information on this.
  21. Highly unlikely. They never forced Ballard (or anyone else) to sell ...
