  1. Will the game vs Oilers be immediately after? I'm a bit mystified as to how this helps the Oilers.
  2. What happened to Vejdemo and Belzile? I didn't see anything in the game reports I read. Rocket in with a 1-0 lead after two periods on a goal by Teasdale, shots 16-12 Laval. Teasdale is now 7+6 in 17 games, including 4+4 in the last five.
  3. Fair enough on the quote. But his offseason moves were ones we have been clamouring for, and they did not look like desperation moves (whether or not they actually were), he did not give away the future with those, other than some length contracts. So, yeah, I'm sure he feels the pressure. Whether job security is the driving factor in his decisions, I can't tell.
  4. Assuming the quote is accurate -- and was said in seriousness.
  5. And only seven days' quarantine now, right? So, Staal and Caufield would potentially only miss a few games.
  6. We could still do that. If you retain 50% of the salary!
  7. And we are not giving up any significant futures.
  8. I assume Evans will head out to the Rocket?
  9. That would explain it. But it doesn't look good for Vejdemo's NHL prospects, though.
  10. Useful forward -- but UFA at the end of the season. Just like Armia. And, yes, Ekholm.
  11. The Athletic had nine team exec proposals for deadline trades -- that they claimed made good sense. One of them was Eklund to Winnipeg, for Perreault, Heinola and a 1st. That would match up fairly well with Armia, Brook and a 1st, I think.
  12. Giving up two strong prospects always hurts. Yes, we have other prospects, l but those are not guaranteed. Ekholm is 30, that would create another window. Would we be able to make another run within five years? And would Ekholm make us into an actual cup contender this year? Edit: No, there would be no real window. Ekholm is a UFA in 2022, so we would be getting him only for this year's playoffs and the full year next year. After that, we would be in the same position as we are today, less Lehkonen, Norlinder and Ylonen. That's not an improvement post-2022. And ... would Nashville take this deal?
  13. But giving up 1st, Lehkonen, Norlinder and Ylonen would be a lot, even if our draft pick is a late one. Armia would be somewhat different because he is effective a rental now -- and because of that, I don't think he would have much value in a this kind of a deal, even if he is a middle-six forward.
  14. So, 1st, Evans/Mete and someone comparable to Durzi .. Struble? Tuch? Mysak? Ylonen? Romanov? All are recent second-round picks.
  15. Ylonen, Brook and Leskinen have looked very good this season, and even Poehling has improved. I wonder what's going on with Vejdemo, he had 23 shots and eight points in his first ten games, but in the eight since then he has only 13 shots and a single point. Just natural streakiness, less playing time, worse linemates -- or something else?
  16. The Rocket is now 12-4-2, for 26 points in 18 games. Manitoba is second with 18, and Stockton and Toronto are tied for third place with 17 points
  17. Yeah, they had the empty net, not the Rocket, sorry about that. Ylonen, Poehling and Weal all fail to score in the shootout.
  18. Two goalie-pulled goals for the Moose, with 22 and 2 seconds left on the clock. On to OT we go ...
  19. 3-1 Rocket after two periods, on goals by Blandisi (PPG), Ylonen and Brisebois (Canucks prospect on loan to the Rocket). Assists to Teasdale (x2), Leskinen, Brook, Blandisi and Schueneman. Shots more even tonight, 18-16 for Laval. Ylonen now at 7+7 in 18 games, that's better than I expected in his first AHL season.
  20. Somebody put a mike on that man!
  21. Right. He may not actually be fired -- he just doesn't work any more, effectively on a paid leave of absence. The tweet from NHL PR only said that he will not be calling any more games.
  22. Is that a serious question? Because all I see is a knee-jerk PR reaction.
  23. Thank you. "Corrupt" is used by a lot of people very loosely these days. The refs may be managing, or biased, or vengeful, or incompetent, but I don't see any evidence of actual corruption.
  24. However, they are now much more cautious after the New Jersey-Buffalo debacle.
