  1. Crosby: 1 shot, no points, -2 Malkin: 3 shots, no points, -1 Crosby averaged four shots a game during the regular season. I think our boys had something to do with his lack of results, too ...
  2. Definitely true ... shots were 7-0 Caps before our PP.
  3. I wouldn't put a lot of weight on this particular game, though. As a goalie, this is the kind of game you hate: your team applies pressure for long time, you stand around and wait, and then there is a flurry of attack by the other team. You don't get into a rhythm, and it's easy to lose your focus.
  4. I'm clearly bad luck ... I think I'll go back to watching the OHL playoffs.
  5. I'm feeling good about the level of effort/intensity -- they are playing like they belong in the playoffs. Too bad we couldn't get that consistently before.
  6. Yeah, I think the results matches your prediction all right!
  7. Exactly. There should be some added incentive to win in regulation. Although I'd leave the OT win at 2 points as well.
  8. Not quite the point of your OP, but the extra point really annoys me -- there should only be two points handed out regardless of the outcoming. Or else take the approach of the English Premiership soccer, and give the regulation-time winner three points.
  9. I know the important words ... et le but!!!! (and about time we got one, too)
  10. I just spent 15 minutes on rogers.com ... can't even find RDS anywhere on their price list (it's on my TV, though). Sigh.
  11. Of course Sportsnet West is blacked out in ON. Grrrrr.
  12. I agree ... neither goalie has proven himself. We have huge expectations for Price, and somewhat less for Halak, but neither one has shown themselves to be a real #1. If one of them gave me that confidence, I would be all for trading the other one. But right now I think the platoon arrangement is the best we can do.
  13. All right, that's fair, the farm system does have a glimmer of hope. I really don't think we can trade ourselves into contention from where we are today.
  14. I'mreally starting to believe that not only are there no quick fixes -- there are not many levers for 2010-2011, either, with the cap system.
  15. PP looked pretty good ... no results, though.
  16. There is little enough difference between the two goalies in any of those categories. The big question is what is Price's real potential (it certainly was seen to be high when he was drafted) as of today. We are paying him far more than Halak for a similar level of play, essentially based on that future potential. Is he developing as expected or not? And none of us has the insight that the Habs coaching team does into this. If they think Price will be a franchise player, Halak may be on his way out. But if his potential is now seen as not much better than Halak's, then it may be that Price gets traded, especially as he would also free up some cap room for whoever we would get in return.
  17. It's true that neither Price nor Halak has grabbed the chance and run with it, that much they certainly have in common.
  18. Even if we wanted to trade Halak (and whether we should is an ongoing discussion), who the heck could we get for him that could help the team AND fit into our salary cap -- Halak's cap hit is only $775K! (Price is at $2.2M.)
  19. Yeah, that's not where we want to have Crosby hanging out ...
  20. But he's 21 years old (and Halak is 24) so neither should Martin need to worry about his mental development first and foremost. As someone said in an earlier thread, Martin's sole job is to bring the Cup back to Montreal. If that means sitting out (Price) or trading (Koivu, Kovalev) sentimental favourites, and making the choices based on performance, then I'm good with that. We have two young goalies with high potential -- make them prove their worth by competing for the #1 position.
  21. Our team last season certainly had players who wouldn't put in a full effort for all the games. I don't think Koivu would be a problem there -- nor does he get accused of being a locker-room cancer. But it's still far from reality ...
  22. He didn't say that Koivu played with more heart than anyone else; he said no one played with more heart than Koivu. There is a difference there. And I would say that both the Rocket and Koivu gave there all to the team -- Richard just had exceptional talent to go with the heart he showed.
