  1. Except that he always is thwarted in the end...
  2. The goal differential is ridiculous: 39-16. The average game was 5-2.
  3. I only caught the third and OT, but boy did we dominate those periods. Wouldn't it have been sick if Gorges scored his first goal on that dangle in OT? I'll take the shootout win, and a typically frustrated Thomas. But man, he really stood on his head. I loved what I saw from Price, he wasn't tested that much but was sharp whenever the puck came his way. My heart was in my throat for the final PK, but we took care of it. Don't you love this fooking team?!!! What an awesome game, total playoff atmosphere, our boys come out with fire in the final 25 minutes and take 16 points from our division rival.
  4. Come on boys, knock these dirty bears out of the playoffs! My prediction: 6-4 win. Goals by Plekanec, Streit, Latendresse, Higgins, A. Kostitsyn, Kovalev.
  5. Yeah, hockey players generally seem like the dumbest sports personalities. "Well, y'know, gotta play 60 minutes, y'know..."
  6. I just read this in the Globe and Mail, good article. Agreed.
  7. Ah crap. Hopefully he won't miss more than 2 playoff games, if any. Dammit.
  8. Yeah, I hope the refs are ready to keep them in line.
  9. I remember some hits from behind, and a cross check to the back or two. And that's during the play. After the whistle they were cross checking often, and generally being dirty for no reason. Like on that play that should have been a penalty for covering the puck in their crease but there was an early whistle, A. Kostitsyn was just standing near the net, not close to the goalie, not bothering anyone, and Axelsson comes up and shoves him, and another Bruin grabs his face from behind.
  10. No cheap shots? We must not have been watching the same game.
  11. I was off on the score, but I called two goals by Kovy and one for Ryder! And I forgot to mention that second Bruins goal. It was a terrible call, and they must have thought that Markov pushed Thornton into Price. But Thornton was going full steam, making a B-line for him. We need an enforcer to pound his face in for touching our goalie.
  12. Damn those Bruins, they've gotta be the dirtiest team in the East. Hopefully it's not tolerated as much in Montreal. Good to see Kostopolous stand up for teammates. But Komi, NOO!!! He's probably in the top three, with Kovalev and Markov, of guys who are the most important to our lineup. On RDS they made a good point that Komi's style of play opens things up for Markov's finesse. Streit filled in pretty well for him, though, and I hope they leave him on D and put Dandenault back in the lineup instead of Breezer. It probably doesn't make that big of a difference though. Kovalev was on last night, a man among boys. Can you imagine the Bell centre if he pulled those moves at home? The biggest positive from the game was Price. He was really shaky to start off, but he pulled it together. In the past when we saw a shaky start it usually meant a shaky game, but he was excellent later on. Let's humiliate the B's on Saturday, and knock them out of the playoffs.
  13. I just remember who my most-hated player is: Chara. Ogre bastard.
  14. bro that's awesome, bro
  15. Are you of the opinion that 'at least' is one word? I hope so, and that I don't see him in a Habs uniform again.
  16. I don't find A. Kostitsyn's stats revealing of anything in particular, in the five games he missed we had three wins and two OT losses.
  17. I get more uneasy as our streak against them lengthens. Let's make it 7-0 so I'll be trembling by Saturday! My prediction: 6-3 win (empty netter). Goals by Kovalev (2), Plekanec, Markov, Ryder, Grabovski.
  18. We didn't take advantage of our game against St. Louis, so hopefully the Blues can make the Sens pay as well, in regulation! But at least if the Blues lose they'll keep pace with the Leafs for the lottery.
  19. I like Gui a lot. He had ridiculous hype last year, and he handled it well, especially for a young guy. He gives really good interviews, says the right things, and is pretty frank and candid about his performances. If we're going to have a young Québecois hero (who doesn't really deserve it yet), I'm happy with him. Plus, I like him as a hockey player. He's definitely not well rounded, but the fact that he has 16 goals again this year in his limited playing time shows that he can produce. I would like to see him on a few more powerplays, maybe even out there with Plex and Kovy to stand in front of the net and bat in rebounds. I have high hopes for his future, and I think his breakout season might be as soon as next year. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get 25+ goals with more playing time, maybe alongside Saku. And the whole free-pass from the French media thing is old news, Pierre and Yvon are harder on Latendresse than most players. All in all, I think Gui in three years will be a high-scoring power forward, and the sky's the limit on how much he could produce with the great-passing youngsters we've got.
  20. It really takes very little in the way of news to makes a Habs fan happy, as shown by every requisite signing of a minor prospect. We'd probably rejoice at hearing that Gainey cleaned his desk, and he found his stapler!
  21. Actually we have more OT losses than any of those teams; we have 10, NJ has 7, Boston has 9, and the Rangers have 9. Buffalo is the only team with more OT losses than us in the conference, with 11. If there's any team living on OT losses, it's us; we have the least number of victories for our point total. We have 40 victories and 90 points, Carolina (85) and Ottawa (87) both have 40 victories as well. And Pittsburgh has 41 wins with 89 points, and Dallas has 42 with 89.
  22. People seem way too sold on Halak already. He's been good in his whopping 3 starts this year, against some of the worst teams in the league. He was good last year in a limited stretch. There's not enough proof to show that he'll be anything more than a journeyman goalie. I think he can be a good starter, though. We'll probably sign him to a two year deal at 1-2 million per year, a decent raise. He'll get good action as a backup, 20-30 games if Price is healthy (I doubt we'll be working Price into the ground).
  23. Habsfan was right in saying that you would have bitched about it if Carbo chose your three players and no one scored. I agree that Kovalev had a bad game, but it's not a bad call putting your best player who has phenomenal hands in the shoot out. And if Koivu is so predictable, how did he completely beat Legace? That move worked completely, everyone in the building was expecting him to go to his signature backhand move. He just hit the post. And why not Higgins? Because he doesn't have particularly good moves or hands. Grabovski could have gotten the call, but Andrei Kostitsyn is more of a proven commodity. Like it's been said, you'd be bitching anyways, if the guys you listed failed to score. And really, do you think your childish taunts are helping your argument here?
  24. He doesn't have all the time ahead of him, after spending four years in college.
  25. We got one point, that was all we deserved. We've been winning games recently with a mediocre effort, and we have to turn it up a few notches. Two plays that cost us the game: 1. Smolinski botching the clearing attempt on the 5 on 3, the useless bum. We would have killed it if he managed that very simple play, Lapierre would have done it. Plus he's way to slow to be even practicing with this team, let alone be in the starting lineup. I don't want to see him in another game with the Habs. 2. The Blues' second goal, total softie by Halak. It came right after we took the lead, and completely killed our momentum. The rest of the period we were on our heels. Kovalev did not have a good game, he hasn't been as consistent lately. He was better than Koivu though, who was garbage. Yeah, he scored, but through no work of his own. I do see signs that he's trying though, but he's gotta stop failing. S. Kostitsyn, now there's a man-crush-worthy player. Right when I saw him get the puck on the wing skating hard into the offensive zone, I knew something good was coming. And he makes that perfect pass to Grabs, who makes a perfect shot. Them with Lats might be a good combination, although young and defensively suspect. They're the 4s: 54, 74, 84. I think lil Kost has a chance to become a better player than Andrei, but Andrei could also improve a lot more. Anyways, at least we got a point, now it's on to a sweep the Bruins.
