    Deja Vu?

Montreal has been rebuilding since Houle was named GM BECAUSE Houle was named GM. Bob has less than 2 seasons to right the ship and you guys expect a Stanley Cup????!!!!! That the team is in a position to compete this soon is only because some of Houle's draft picks markov Riberio, ryder from '98 and some of A. Savard's deals paid off (Zednik, Bullis, Perezhoghin). It will be nearly impossible to be a strong contender for the cup for a couple of more years(AND NO this does not meam that I am not hoping for a miracluous upset victory a' la 1986 & 1993). Give Bob a chance... do you not think he offered Theo, Ribs and Dags around the league??? What kinds of offers do you think he got during a 3 wins in a million games, fall from a playoff spot , losing streak??
  4. A great start! I hope the fact that the players will be the next one's shipped out will have a positive, motivating effect from now through a playoff run. Yes, i am getting ahead of myself its only been one game etc. Also, to those who were questioning Bob's decsion to start Theodore, what else was he going to do? Leave his multi-million dollar goalie on the shelf until Theo's confidence was completely shot and he was as untradable as the Bulin Millstone around Tallon's neck in Chicago? Remember what Bob's speech to Fans did to Brisebois? I hope that a fresh start under BG will do the same for Theo-- or at least get him playing well enough to trade. Hello, Mike Keenan? This is Bob....
  5. The big difference is that this time SC, the people in question are qualified, experienced, prepared, etcetera...everything that tweedle-dum and tweedle-dumber were not
  6. Wow. Once again Bob's shocks the, eh, socks off of everyone. Even with the team in freefall, there was no hint of Julien being in trouble and Boom! How the hell does Bob keep all of this quiet? Anyway... I feel sorry for Julien; he deserved better from his players. I hope that this will give the underachievers the kick in the ass they need and deserve. It will be interesting to see how the team plays tonight.
  7. It would be wonderful if Bob could pry a good player out of Chicago for Ribs, but remember Bob's moves are usually not the ones that are rumored. Its too bad that Mibury's out in Long Island, we could have gotten Trent Hunter and a draft pick for Ribs
  8. I always thought that he must have blackmail photos of the owner. Imagine how good the Isles would be if some of his poor trades were reversed
  9. "What is the point in making the play-off if you just limp in by a point or two?" It certainly beats the alternatives. I'll be quite happy if the Habs make the playoffs and win a playoff series, preferably two. Anything else would be gravy. The team is being built to tbe a contender every year but is a long way from that goal unfortunately
  10. go habs go :hlogo: JLP go get some Boddington's we have to get a streak going and sacrifices must be made
  11. An interesting perspective on Dags from jack Todd of The Gazette http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news...ecf0b4c&k=37908 I confess, I thought Dags might work out better, but as I said all along BG would give him a chance and if he wasnt performing he would be gone. The HW Nostradamus strikes again!
  12. I didnt know that. But, take a look at the article by Bob McKenzie on TSN: http://www.tsn.ca/columnists/bob_mckenzie.asp The consensus is that Lou in NJ *#$!!' ed up badly. but he screwed up waaaay worse than most people thought. Ouch. Mogilny has 25 points including 12 goals it would have been worth it for NJ to give him away with a 2nd rounder to escape the contract... Maybe they're hoping someone takes a flier on him at half price for the rest of the season. If I'm Lou. I'm praying for an injury epidemic among offensive forwards. The interesting clause is about retirement.. wow! Anybody still sad that Bob didnt sign any big name, old, FA's?
  13. That's right. One of those interesting cap quirks that give GM's who screw up some wiggle room(I'm not refering to Bob here) but is bound to drive the owners crazy. I cant imagine that the owners of the Devils are very happy with their payroll with Oliwa and Mogilny being paid not to play in the NHL and they almost had McGillis in the same situation
  14. I voted for you pal......but I know you didnt do it. Man it was a long trip from Abu Dhabi and back! But, I almost scored!!! If only I had more time....
  15. If I'm the team captain one day and waived the next I would be embarrassed and pissed off. I know that TB is desperately in need of cap room but this is a pretty low class move. Paying him is the least they could do after he captained the team to the Stanley Cup. To answer the original question, if a player is waived, his salary doesnt count against the cap even though the team is contractually obligated to pay the full salary for the term of the contract. If a player refuses to report, they could be suspended. NJ already did this with Kristov Oliwa and wants to do the same thing with Mogilny, I think, barring a trade.
  16. Well, I guess there is more than one way to shake up a team! I wonder what will happen next? Yea... I finally made it out of the CHL for the second time
  17. Uh, Kozed.. I actually thought that Saku publiclly, and emphatically, saying that he wants to stay in MTL was good news. I imagine, read hope, that Bob will get something done before seasons end.
  18. I didn't say they were, I said I was surprised that no one else had suggested it
  19. You're right, but so am I Lets agree to disagree! The All-Blacks have a unique place in sports AND Al is an idiot that we can agree on. BTW, I'm surprised that no one suggested that as all of his examples have one common denominator, a history and tradition of excellence that the HABS are Canada's team. After all, Les Canadians have as much and probably much more support outside their home province than the laughs. After all, is there a Leafs World of the same quality as this site? Of course not!
  20. As I said before, and will say again, all hail BG, CJ and AS and give thanks.
  21. He was refering to the team that has widespread support in a country, that many people identify with, and that symbolizes the country. The All-Blacks are THE team in NZ. Every NZ boy dreams of playing for the All-Blacks, not one of their professional sides and people outside of NZ (even non-rugby fans) can identify the All-Blacks as NZ's team. And, they have an unbroken tradition of excellence that even the Habs and Yankees might envy. So, I maintain, as Devil's Advocate, that yes, Al did get this one tiny detail of the article right. Note: International rubgy has a different structure than international sports as we understand it in NA. The top international sides of countries like France, England, Austrailia, SA, NZ etcetera play each other every year, sometimes more than once a year usually in one-off games known as tests and in tournaments that happen every year.
  22. I agree, let's fire Rollie and replace him with the guy who coaches Huet
  23. I dont really take him seriously... I just can't believe that he gets paid for writing such drivel. During the lock-out he was so ass-lickingly pro-player that just seeing his name made me want to puke. I usually dont read his stuff anymore, but as I said this was just beyond it
  24. The All Blacks are a national team made up professional players representing NZ. Much as it pains me to say, Al got this one right because the All Blacks are the iconic team in NZ and for many followers of world rugby. World Cups aside, they are simply the best there is.
