  1. Price isn't setting up one-time clappers top shelf by any means but I think you are underestimating how important it is for a smooth transition from defense to offence. If a goalie can't give the puck to a defenseman at the exact time he requires it, it affects the entire group of players. I consider Price to be one of the elite puck handlers and passers in the game. Yes he played last year and the offence stunk but it wasn't because he didn't make a difference. It may not lead directly to many goals scored but indirectly it helps the offense stay in sync.I've played on enough shitty teams to know how it disrupts your rhythm as a forward having to curl back because of bad passes in your own end on the breakout.
  2. Boys will be boys. Nobody knows the context of the arrest at this point so speculation is all it is. The only worrisome thing in my opinion is, if Chucky and DSP make it on a shit list where they are eventually traded off for less than market value.
  3. I would also add that having Price back there really jump starts the offense because of his puck handling ability. Any dump in he can get to, he is able to make a tape to tape pass to the defense at the right time to break out
  4. Haha yes the battles we had on that topic were epic. I still love Markov and am glad we have him.
  5. I would be tempted to say McCarron is on the no trade list, along with Beaulieu. Yes I know you have to trade the goods to get the goods, but those two players fill an organizational need. Nate will hopefully assume the role of Markov in the next couple years, and McCarron is a right handed monster.
  6. Haha okay I'll try to remember at the end of the season to see if I will get 5 Stogey dollars
  7. I agree on the gambling on Price philosophy. If the team was top heavy at the forward position rather than the defensive, the theory is that Price can bail them out when they are taking offensive risks. That being said, it was nice to be able to solidify a top 4 RD by signing Petry. I guess we are all waiting for a Jeff Carter/Mike Richards-like acquisition to a team that is ready to take the leap, much like how the Kings were when they made those moves.
  8. Wow, you put that traded Columbus team up against the current Columbus team, and they slap the current team around.
  9. Two different people can have two different opinions of the same person and both be right.
  10. I wonder if all of MB's perceived good trades he has made works against him making a big move. 29 other GM's don't want to be the guy getting fleeced. It's hard to be a GM in Montreal, so much media and analysis. It almost seems like most trades pre-Bergevin didn't quite work out, meanwhile every trade with him has at least some sort of value attached to it.
  11. Personally I would have liked to give Kassian a chance after he got clearance to leave the substance abuse program. Especially given our incredible need for a RW player of his ilk. However, I suppose this is management basically saying " I don't care how bad we are, we are not putting up with that here". It sends a strong message to the rest of the team. I am also quite skeptical about Scrivens being any sort of upgrade on what is already here for goalies, but time will tell.
  12. Imagine having an athlete of that caliber on the Habs right now
  13. Perhaps MB can get a cheap deal on Vrbata since the Kassian deal worked out the way it did.
  14. We'll that's a coincidence, MB loves trading a 2nd plus a small something for impact players at the deadline
  15. I don't usually listen to rumours but it's fun to fantasize during this slump
  16. There's a rumour floating around that there is a deal in place for Wayne Simmonds but can't announce it till after the roster freeze.
  17. Trade one of the best contracts in the league, the best goal scorer we have and the newly appointed captain while the team is struggling to score goals? Makes sense
  18. The lineup for the game tonight: Max Pacioretty - David Desharnais - Dale Weise Tomas Fleischmann - Tomas Plekanec - Paul Byron Lars Eller - Alex Galchenyuk - Daniel Carr Brian Flynn - Torrey Mitchell - Michael McCarron Nathan Beaulieu - P.K. Subban Andrei Markov - Alexei Emelin Jarred Tinordi - Tom Gilbert Dustin Tokarski Mike Condon The lineup on opening night: Max Pacioretty - Tomas Plekanec - Brendan Gallagher Lars Eller - Alex Galchenyuk - Alexander Semin Tomas Fleischmann - David Desharnais - Dale Weise Brian Flynn - Torrey Mitchell - Devante Smith-Pelly Andrei Markov - P.K. Subban Alexei Emelin - Jeff Petry Nathan Beaulieu - Tom Gilbert Carey Price Mike Condon Look how much better the lineup looked on opening night compared to now. Up front we have Byron, Carr and McCarron instead of Gallagher, Smith-Pelly, Semin. Throw in a Kassian rehab stint on top of that just for fun. Four proven NHLer's have been replaced by a waiver pickup and two rookies. That is going to hurt any hockey team no matter how good they are. 25% of the team is different than the group that was on fire to start the season. And I don't think we have to discuss how important MVPrice is to this team. He literally is the most valuable player to his hockey team. This is likely just the low point of the season and things will turn around at any time.
  19. Now that's a GDT. I do my first one and we get shelled, it was not meant to be. Just take a look at the right side of the projected lineup: As a hockey team you are in trouble if your best winger on the right side is Dale Weise, nothing against Dale Weise. Bundle that up with the fact that the most valuable player in the entire league is missing from this hockey team and that equals losses. Injuries and rehab have really taken a toll on the team but yet they are still leading the division somehow, but just barely. Some good is bound to happen sometime
  20. 1. They're doing well, I like their team 2. Glad to hear about your pup and sorry about your other one 3. I could have picked the other post tonight where you called both of our active goalie losers. I guess I'm the type of fan that looks at things objectively and my posts reflect that, which is probably why you don't have a problem with my posts. We're all Habs fans and we want them to do well, and they are. So let's build on that
  21. Don't you have a free Panther game to watch and an expensive dog to pet? I could have sworn you quit this board because you wanted to move to one with "more than 3 members". Speaking for myself, your negativity certainly wasn't missed when you were gone. If I want to read constant Hab bashing I go to the TSN comments section, not a fan forum.
  22. The slumping Habs limp into the Big D to try to right the ship that was sailing so smoothly to start the season. They face the highest scoring team in the league that will look to feast on a goalie not named Carey Price. The Habs will look to pepper the Stars netminder and you have to believe that a puck will find it's way in somehow. Montreal has called up Big Mike McCarron to strike fear into the opposition, whether it be on the ice or from the pressbox. I'm not sure of any lineup changes or how to find out the lines because I get my information from this forum. Puck drops at 7 Eastern and it doesn't appear to be on HNIC, the mighty Leafs must be playing. Here's to hoping that this first time GDTer is good luck.
