  1. I think Nashville is getting away with too much, elbows, cross checking. Nashville are a dirty, hard, grinding team. A long series surely favours them.
  2. He had just as many chances when he played for the Habs. Difference is that he is actually scoring off of those chances now. I think the entire board liked Lehkonen very much and were really happy when he won that cup.
  3. What they showed was the same problem three different times. In their own zone, the leaf centre and both wingers are against their board’s battling 3 bruin players. the three bruin players are on the outside with the three leaf players against the glass - this is supposed to be the other way around with the three leaf players on the outside pushing the three bruins against the glass as they battle. Because the leafs are against the glass, when the bruins win the battle there are no players to block their path to the net - because the leafs are in the wrong position.
  4. Colorado is taking it to the jets. Score is only 2-1 but Colorado has chances after chances and boom there it is 3-1
  5. Yeah fair enough. I’ve never been great at value of picks and players. I do think we could get a good player at around 12 - whatever is reasonable compensation.
  6. I was watching the American feed of the Rangers game and Mark Messier and PK Subban pulled apart the leafs play. They interacted with a giant map where they showed a few clips of where the leaf forwards are not in good technical position when in their Dzone. They showed three examples of Boston goals because of poor technical positions by leaf forwards. Both commentators agreed that Keefe was to blame because this was basic stuff. Boston played so frigging well for most of that game that I think they have a real shot. I hadn’t thought that before. Let’s see if they can match the speed of the Rangers. I said before and I say it again, you don’t play a generational scorer like Mathews with two grinder type players. Mathews needs an elite playmaking passer. Still, I won’t be relaxed until the leafs are officially eliminated.
  7. LMAO at the HNIC crew looking dejected as if all their dogs just died. Poor leaf’s are losing you homers 👌
  8. I’m hoping they use the Calgary pick, Winnipeg pick and one of our young defenders to either get us a top 6 forward or to get a pick around 12 this year. I want Parekh too but man we need top 6 forwards in our system
  9. Bruins are playing masterful team defence. There is a bruin on a leaf instantly. Leafs have no room to make plays or to pass. Bruins are playing really, really well IMO
  10. Bit of a scary first period by Vancouver but they played a dynamite second period and a strong third too. Preds are doing everything they can to inflict pain on the Nucks. Tons of hard hits but lots of dirty stuff going on. Two more wins Vancouver 🎉 Didnt watch the Jets game but I’m happy with the outcome. I want the best draft pick possible.
  11. How are the shots 5-3 after that period? Five PPs and enormous Ozone time. Gutless to knock down a goalie like that.
  12. What a start for Nashville. I don’t think that boarding penalty was even a penalty. Survive this period Nucks
  13. How amazing to be in the old Forum on the day that the Habs won the cup. I was quietly jumping up and down and shaking my fists - trying not to waken my wife. As you say, the speed and skill of today’s players are off the charts. Even today’s big players have speed and skill.
  14. It was on all of the Sportsnet channels this afternoon. Very true Don. It was great to watch Damphouse again
  15. Sportsnet is showing 1993 Stanley cup finals game 5. Montreal against the Kings. I’m really struck by the amount of hooking, holding, slashing, interference that happens as routine play. The hockey is slow and grinding. It’s funny just how much I idolized those players for being so great and I’m not sure that most of them would survive in today’s NHL. Nostalgia vs reality is a funny thing.
  16. Well this sounds amazing. It does seem like he is in competition with Beck for third line centre once Dvorak is gone. Best player in the league is exciting. Habs have a bunch of prospects about to push for roster spots and I’m looking forward to that
  17. It’s wild to see Florida crushing Tampa. We all knew Tampa was sunsetting but all that elite talent is about to get swept. Will they trade vets and rebuild or double down and try to win one more time? Can’t stand Tampa either way. Tonight, Canucks better show up. You hear that Pettersson?
  18. He definitely made the initial hit on their Dmen when hunting pucks. Dubois just didn’t seem to compete beyond that. Like no drive to battle the boards or drive play. He seems lazy but maybe it’s just his style leaving that impression 🤷‍♂️
  19. I think this trade comes down to what Mailloux turns into. If he becomes a first pairing stud then Habs lose, if he is a bottom pairing guy then Habs win. Presuming the Habs draft two high end forwards at pick 3 and 5. Definitely an interesting proposal
  20. Nobody believes Caufield is even possibly being traded. It was a very interesting proposal In terms of value and would it be worth it.
  21. Conspiracy theory but I’ve had a sneaking suspicion for a while that PLD will be in the player assistance program at some point.
  22. Kings and Edmonton has kind of been a bananas game. Chaotic hockey with spurts of great chances. Dubois looks like he isn’t competing very hard. Perhaps he is injured, perhaps his heart is in Montreal.
  23. Offsetting penalties would have been better but with 2 minutes to go in the game and both players were being shits, refs should have let it go. Leafs crying about it is nonsense too because Boston got screwed by the refs too. Fun game to watch
