  1. If a player is considering retirement in any capacity they will have a higher chance to call it quits sooner after their season is over due to being worn down from that season. If they are given the entire off-season to mull it over, they get a chance to heal and feel better, which leads to a better chance they will return. Oilers took advantage of this by shortening the date they wanted and answer.
  2. I missed a lot of games this year. A lot of my recent opinions on Romanov this year are from reports and what I saw from him earlier this season and last season. Here goes anyway, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. Romanov is basically Emelin. Not that there’s anything wrong with Emelin. The biggest difference is Emelin knew who he was and played to his strengths. Romanov wants to be a dynamic offensive contributor but doesn’t have the skill set yet or maybe ever. Too many times joining the rush and not only not contributing, but the puck ending up in his own net while out of position. I like Romanov, but I really believe we as Habs fans overrated him and to get the 13th pick for him was a really good return.
  3. I like the trade, next years draft is supposed to be deeper.
  4. Sounds like over the last couple of weeks Edmonton was indirectly pressuring Keith to retire. They gave him multiple deadlines for a decision, each shorter than the last. Until earlier this week, he had until July 13th to make a decision.
  5. Sportsnet guys said at the combine he was going to scouts with papers from doctors saying he will still grow.
  6. Took Daly long enough to announce the DeAngelo trade. TSN announced it almost a half hour ago.
  7. Cooley is supposed to have the highest ceiling in the draft. Sportsnet saying he's the only potential franchise player in this year's draft.
  8. I think it was the ceiling. Slafkovsky and Cooley both have higher ceilings according to nearly every draft report lately. I don’t know much about Nemec, admittedly. Everything about Wright was his floor seemed higher than everyone else, and he was the most complete player in the draft, but his ceiling was lower. It’s easier to teach a willing player to play defence than to is to teach a complete player to simply be better.
  9. Slafkovsky is a known streaky scorer. I wouldn't sully him by mentioning him with Kotkanieni, I would say he'll probably be more like Pacioretty. We will love him when he's on, but hate him when he's off.
  10. It appears my report is a year old.
  11. I'm not stoked about Dach either. I did just read a scouting report from Chicago that sounds promising. They expected him to split time between 2nd and 1st line next year, depending on Toews. His PPG went from 0.36 in his rookie year to 0.55 last season. Also suggesting he's expected to be more productive.
  12. It happens. I'm not sure how much I like the Dach trade. He's young with a couple of season under his belt, but I'm not sure he';s worth what was given up for him. I hope I eat my words.
  13. I thought for sure one of those trades was for the 4th.
  14. As much as I would love to see the Habs still net Wright, look at the cost of the 7th pick. I'm not sure anything that doesn't involve Suzuki or Caufield will get any of those picks.
  15. So instead of a Bergeron, they picked a Pacioretty. Guess this means they are in on Dubois.
  16. Actually the report is a late 2nd or a 3rd round. No player as a sweetener required.
  17. Puljujarvi is reported to be cheap, about a 2nd/3rd round pick.
  18. I think the 7th was the best chance for Montreal to get another pick in the top-10.
  19. Darren Dreger reported the trade that Murray nixed would have icluded; To Buffalo Murray (with retained salary) Ottawa’s 7th To Ottawa Buffalo’s 16th picK
  20. Read that Arizona is open to trading the 3rd pick. It doesn’t make sense to me as to why, but it’s out there. I would keep an eye on Edmonton with Puljujarvi, Kassian and Barrie. They want to dump cap, so picks or prospects would be great for them.
  21. Letang re-signed with Pittsburgh, so at least all the rumours of Montreal chasing him in free agency is over. Matt Murray refused to waive his NTC to goto Buffalo. Ottawa and Buffalo had a trade worked out. I really can’t say I blame him for not wanting to goto Buffalo.
