  1. How about Bourque, Diaz, Leblanc + possibly a pick for Kane? Bourque is Bourque, but Diaz has offensive potential and is coming into his own defensively which is very attractive, plus Leblanc still has potential to be good but doesn't seem to want to put the extra effort in to be an NHL player on Montreal. This trade will be near even salary wise (5.25m for 4.55m), Winnipeg gets a LW under contract for a couple of years, a solid 3rd pair defenceman that can play on their PP, plus a possible future 2nd/3rd line center. We get a goal scoring RW to put with Chucky and Eller or Patches and DD, with Gally filling out the other line's RW. Give us 2 full scoring lines.
  2. Insider trading on TSN said we're listening to calls on Patches, but are not shopping him. Likewise with Kane and Winnipeg, except Noel and Kane aren't seeing eye-to-eye, old story, Kane wants out of Winnipeg. How about a Kane for Patch swap? To Winnipeg: Pacioretty + DD + prospect/pick To Montreal: Kane + Setoguchi Money wise, it's about even (8m for 7.750m), plus we get a 25+ goal scorer and a 20 goal scorer, both right wings. We could look something like this: Galchenyuk - Eller - Kane Setoguchi - Plekanec - Gallagher Bourque - Briere - Gionta Prust - White - Bourvinal
  3. I approve of this idea. Rotate a winger back to Murray's spot after the entry/faceoff and Murray just park himself in front of the net. It's not going to affect the PP as Boullion doesn't do much to generate offense anyway. He doesn't have a booming shot or pin-point accuracy. I wouldn't mind seeing Chucky rotate back with Diaz, he is probably the best passing forward we have.
  4. I like the idea of putting Briere at center. If you look at his stats, they never dropped dramatically until he was shifted to winger on Philly. Would be interesting to see if he could still produce as center after playing 2+ years on the wing. I'm more than a fan of DD in the pressbox. How many chances does he need to get going? Especially when there's little positives you can take from his game this season.
  5. Colour me confused. I watched the Emery-Holtby "fight" like 5 times now and something becomes apparent. Holtby wasn't a willing combatant in that fight. Emery goes the entire length of the ice. Emery throws off his helmet, glove and block, then grabs Holtby. Holtby still has his helmet, glove and blocker on. Emery knocks off Holtby's helmet and unloads on him. The ref does not stop the "fight." Holtby still isn't punching and his blocker falls off trying to not get mauled. At no point does Holtby attempt nor get his glove off. At no point does Holtby throw a punch. At no point does Holtby appear to be a willing combatant. Emery fails to get a helmet penalty, automatic fight stoppage. The ref lets the fight go when one of the combatants is clearly NOT fighting. Instead the ref stops other players and officials from getting involved. I'm not against fighting in hockey, I actually encourage it. This was a clear example refs have no idea what they are doing. That is one ref that just wanted to watch a fight, not do his job.
  6. While I agree with what your saying, this is not the same situation reversed. Galchenyuk isn't on the block for us, nor would he be if we were in Edmonton's shoes. Yakupov is the odd man out on a team with great young talent. He has been publicly on the block for the last few weeks. I think your over estimating Yakupov's value just a tad. The kid can put up points, but is a defensive liability. He is a modern day Havlat, early in his career. He is severely lacking defensively, so unless he's putting up points then he isn't an NHL player. Hence why he has been sitting in the pressbox on and off so far this season. Galchenyuk can play without the puck, Yakupov cannot.
  7. Edmonton is having problems keeping the puck out of their net. If we were to trade for Yakupov, and I think it would be a brilliant idea, The price tag for Yakupov alone shouldn't be any more than Gorges + Moen. Which is what Edmonton is looking for. They want team defense concept, those 2 guys are exactly what they are looking for. Only huge hole in that trade is the cap space So to make it work, it would have to look something like this; To Edmonton Gorges Moen Prospect (Mid-level, like Holland or Bournival should suffice) To Montreal Yakupov Smyth 5.7m going Edmonton's way, 3.2 coming back, so we'll be at 2.5m cap space and they will have about 1.5m.
  8. Desharnais should be given this game to try to get something going. If he can't, he should be put in the pressbox. His line progression went from starting on 1st line, to starting on 2nd line, now starting on 3rd line. By the 3rd period of the Oilers game he was playing on the 4th line. Without improvement he'll end up there again. I do like Desharnais, believe it or not, but he really needs to be reminded that he is replaceable, and if not performing his role, he is of no use to the lineup. The only thing he has going for him is he's not bad at all in the faceoff dot, but is that enough to warrant his lack of fight when after the puck?
  9. Gonna be at this one, 6 seats away from the habs bench, first time I see Desharnais on the ice, I'm gonna yell at Therrian to bench his ass and put Eller or Galchenyuk between Patches and Briere. Let the other center Gallagher and Prust. Desharnais needs to be put in the pressbox for a few games. Ever since his signing he's been useless all over the ice. Need to get a new perspective on his role as his current perspective is go out there and collect a paycheck. We just got rid of Kostitsyn and Gomez, now we have another one in the development. Stop him before it's too late.
  10. I'll be 3rd row 6th seat over from Habs bench tomorrow night in Edmonton. If you want to find me, look for the guy yelling at the players, double-fisting a couple beer, rocking a habs jersey of course.
  11. TSN saying Bournival is gonna draw in in Pacioretty's (Wolvie, we should get that going again) spot. Projected lines listed up top say it's Prust. Personally I like the idea of Bournival playing in Wolvie's spot, gives the kid a chance to shine offensively. At least give him a couple of shifts with DD and Briere.
  12. First goal I'm gonna say is Pacioretty. He had a great pre-season, I'd expect him to come out with a purpose tomorrow night. Got a feeling we're still gonna drop the game 4-2.
  13. Tinordi solidifies a roster spot. Patches breaks 30 goals again. Eller breaks 50 pts. Price has another Vezna nominated year. Markov and Subban finish the year both in the top 15 defensemen for points, leading Montreal's PP to top-5 in the league. I refuse to book any of these predictions, because if I do, it'll surely go sideways.
  14. I'm living in Alberta, so blackouts wouldn't apply. I checked the guide for NHL Center Ice and they don't seem to be televising any Habs games for at least the first 2 weeks. Hoping the games will appear as it comes closer to gamedays. If it doesn't televise many Habs games, I'm gonna cancel it. Looking forward to the 10th when their playing Edmonton, gonna be 6 seats away from the Habs bench. So stoked.
  15. I know we're not allowed to post links on the forums, but if you PM me, I can give you a couple places to look. If this violates the no posting streams, by all means erase this dlbalr. On a side note, I got NHL Center Ice for the first time and no preseason game by Montreal have been televised on it, anyone else with Center Ice know if it's gonna be like this during the season or it's just pre-season, as I'm chalking it up to that. I'm assuming it's just preseason.
  16. If Tinordi can keep up this physical pace and continue to improve his defensive game, I would imagine he's pretty much a top-6 lock for this year. Throw Emelin and Tinordi out together and watch bodies fly. Will make any team think twice about trying to carry the puck in.
  17. Except he spent most of the season in the press box, on the payroll, but not playing because we had better players to put on the ice. His contract had little to do with why he wasn't playing games.
  18. Well is someone wants some good draft picks, they should be making goalie offers to Calgary.
  19. The problem is the ownership of the Flames told Feaster they want Calgary in the playoffs this year. If he fails this goal he'll probably be fired. He has already refused to rebuild the last few years when the team is in need of it. He's either going to go crazy and attempt to keep his job or he's willing to lose his job and start the rebuild he should of already started. If it's the latter then he should keep his picks and go with what he got. If he's fighting for his job, Kadri wouldn't be a bad move. Success now vs success later. Either way picking up Kadri wouldn't be a bad thing for Calgary, as CC put it, they don't have much in the pipeline as it is, years of drafting duds, at least Kadri is good. Where they may draft next year means nothing if they aren't drafting well anyway.
  20. Devils or Flames might do well from offering something to Kadri. I'd watch out for the Flames, ownership told Feaster they want the playoffs this year. Calgary isn't really stocked at center, Hudler/Cammy as top-2 centers, but with Kadri, Cammy can go back to wing. Toronto only has about 5m in cap space, and we all know Feaster isn't afraid of giving an offersheet even if it means he loses the player and the picks. Plus Flames have over 7m in cap space.
  21. I'm ok with both being beaten to the outside, as long as they use their size and don't let players on the inside. With Murray and Tinordi it's all about using their size to not let anyone on the inside. If they sit back enough they won't be beaten to the outside either, just the forwards need to know they will have little to no defense support in the attacking zone while Murray and Tinordi. I do agree that if we can afford it to keep Tinordi in the minors, same as Beaulieu. When they can learn to dominate the AHL, they will have a better start to their career in the NHL.
  22. Poor man's Datsyuk? Maybe a poor man's Toews, not Datsyuk. Datsyuk can do things with the puck top NHL player dreams they can do, there's no such thing as a poor man's Datsyuk.
  23. Realistically, would Kadri accept? We can't offer him big money, it's Montreal and he plays for the Leafs, and we're stocked at center where Toronto isn't. He has to earn a spot in the top-3 center position with us, where with Toronto he has a top-2 slot pretty much penciled in. We won't offer him anything unless we at least trade Plekanec and Desharnais, which I don't see happening. We have a potential top-5 center in our lineup right now, why lose 2 good draft picks for another?
  24. SO, before Emelin gets back, if Tinordi does well out of training camp, our piars should look something like this: Markov - Subban Gorges - Diaz Murray - Tinordi Not gonna lie, for a 3rd pair, you have 2 stay at home guys that won't let you stay in front of the net and will hit. Markov will have to eat extra minutes until Emelin comes back and then I have a feeling we'll see Subban/Gorges, Markov/Emelin reunited. Leaving Murray/Tinordi/Boullion, in that order imho, fighting it out for the 6th spot. Any way you look at it, it's a great depth signing.
  25. Just to use an example; Subban @ 8 years of $3.5m, increases his value becuase thats more cap space that can be used elsewhere. Plus for those 8 years he would be at top form. Subban @ 8 years pf $11m, decrease his trade value because thats 1 player for the price of 2 (7m for what Subban should be worth + 4m that could be used for another player). Loungo's problem is worse as he still has 9 years left @ 5.3m. He is 34. Count on him being a good goalie for another 2 years maybe, which 5.3m for a good goalie is great. Then you have 3 years of a decling goalie @ 5.3m. Then you have about 4 years of a backup/AHL/retired goalie @ 5.3m. Would you like to pay Budaj 5.3m for a few years? Thats whats wrong with his contract. If it were for 3 more years, he'd of already been traded, it's the cap hit on the last half of his contract that teams aren't willing to pay.
