  1. Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 5m Los Angeles trades Drewiske to Habs for Montreal's own 5th round pick in the 2013 Draft.#tradecentre
  2. Sounds like most likely destinations for Clowe is NYR PHI and VAN as per Bob McKenzie.
  3. Here's a hypothetical situation. We traded to get Roy, used a 2nd and say Bournival. We now have a huge surplus of centers and rumor has it Phoenix is interested in shipping away Yandle but would require a 1st/2nd line center. We turn around ship Eller + Leblanc (maybe a 3rd) to Phoenix for Yandle. Eller's play this season would give Phoenix reason to consider him a 2nd line center. There you go, Roy centering Chucky and Bourque or Ryder and we have filled a need for a responsible offensive defenseman. We lose out on Eller, add a bit of consistency to an inconsistent line and pick up a top-4 defenseman. As I said before, not doing anything at the deadline is just as irresponsible as throwing away our future for the cup now. We are playing like contenders this year, why not make an attempt to put ourselves in a position to win. I see too many people here with the attitude of "Casey at the bat" syndrome. There will be a next one. When? Next year? 5 more years? 10 more years? Tangibles vs intangibles. The intangible is we're in position now, nobody knows what the next 10 years will bring, so we pass on it now for the uncertainty of the future. Good, irresponsible plan. Nobody knows if we will make the playoffs again for 10 years. We are this year though.
  4. Not to be over-optimistic, but with Clowe reportedly picking Montreal as one of his possible destinations and his other destinations slowly getting trades done, it seems more likely he will end up here.
  5. Elliot Freedman reporting Jagr to Boston is done.
  6. He would be dynamite with Patches and DD. I'm still hoping we pick up a winger so we can reasonably put Gallagher on the 3rd line with Chucky and Eller. I'm not one to trust rookies to play like anything other than rookies in the playoffs. A better winger would help Eller and Chucky, and if all else fails, that winger can be promoted to the Patches - DD line and Gallagher can be demoted to the Chucky - Eller line.
  7. That looks like a trade we could of/should of made. Would free up DD/Plek/Eller to be shipped out for a bigger piece.
  8. Need to stop getting TGS(Toronto goalie syndrome) with our callups. Beaulieu will be good in the future, he's played 2 games in the NHL thus far, we said the same thing about Tinordi after his first 2 games. Have to expect Beaulieu to regress and get sent back down. Just as well to make a move now, while we still can, to acquire a 6th/7th defenseman in case Beaulieu does regress. Not to mention He probably won't cross the 9 game mark so this doesn't count as his rookie season. Also not mentioning Beaulieu would go back down when/if Diaz comes back. We're in the conversation for contention for the cup, one of 4-6 teams. We have to be planning for a playoff run now, not a growing experience for our kids like the other 10-12 teams not in that conversation.
  9. Contract talks stalled with Streit, expectations are he'll be traded. I'd love to have him back. Markov - Gorges Subban - Streit Boullion - Emelin 2 pairs capable of playing against the other team's top line. Would come in real handy if we had to face Pittsburgh.
  10. TSN saying Redden may be on the move after the Bouwmeester trade and value is a mid-late round pick. Cheap, dependable, veteran, 6th-7th defenseman, colour me interested. To St. Louis: 2013 4th (MTL) To Montreal: Wade Redden Still would give us plenty of assets to pursue another defenseman and maybe a forward.
  11. I read somewhere, and I can't remember where, that the asking price for Jagr is at least a 1st.
  12. This is odd. Handzus to CHI for a 4th round pick. Clowe expected to be scratched for tonight's game. Yet, SJ is in 6th in the west with a 3 pt lead. It seems SJ is pegging themselves sellers, but are in a playoff position.
  13. Your right, he does have a full-NTC. Misunderstood TSN this morning while they were talking about it.
  14. Iggy was different, he had a full NTC. He would of went to Boston if he didn't have the choice. Only reason he ended up in Pittsburgh is because he wanted to go there and could use his NTC to veto any and every trade he didn't want to be apart of. The Flames got less in return for him going to Pittsburgh than if he would of went to Boston. Clowe on the other hand doesn't have a full NTC. He can give a list of 8 team (I believe it's 8, I could be wrong) to which he would be willing to be traded to. Once he submitted the list, he has no control over which of those teams he listed he ends up in. I expect him to land in Boston because Boston was willing to part with a pick, a roster player and a top prospect for Iggy, so they are less attatched to those 3 piece than they were previous to the Iggy trade. Boston will offer more. Only way he would land in Montreal over Boston is if Boston isn't on his list.
  15. He's not untradeable. There's no such thing as untradable in the NHL. Here's an example and values will probably be off, but it's an example. To Edmonton: Weber To Montreal: Ryan Jones If we were to throw Kaberle in that trade and make it work, it may be something like this: To Edmonton: Weber + Kaberle + 2nd To Montreal: Ryan Jones Notice how we would have to add a pick to get Kaberle traded? the other team would require compensation for doing us a "favor." No such thing as untradable, just the cost of the trade for us makes it not worth it. The only way we would get a fair value trade for kaberle would be to hold back 2m-3m of his contract, and why would we do that when we could just buy him out right now instead?
  16. Subban needs to talk to Galchenyuk. It took Subban a little over 2 years in the NHL to hit the net consistently and now he's tearing it up. I wouldn't be too worried about Galchenyuk missing the net. Its a faze. He knows that beating goalies is going to be harder in this league so he needs to aim closer to the posts. He's not there yet, but I'm sure in a year or 2 he will be, like Subban. So the question is do we attempt to fast-track it by telling him to aim at the crest or give him time to fine-tune his shot?
  17. This. We would have to give more away for a team to take Kaberle. If this year was the last of his contract he would be marketable, since it's not nobody wants to pay him next year.
  18. From his performance this year, I could see it as well, but he will be looking for 4-5 years at $5m as his retirement contract.
  19. It took this long to realize we have a 30-goal scoring Power Forward, a 20 goal scoring defenseman that is great in his own end, and a top 5 goaltender. That is 3 pieces any team in the NHL would like to have. If we can get us a pure goal scorer on the RW, there's no reason to think with our depth we can't repeat this performance for a few years to come. This team would be scarey with a 40-goal scorer on the RW with Patches and DD. Nash is good, Patches is just as good offensively, behind in physicality but you can see Patches experiment with the puck at times, like Nash does.
  20. So how many years has Gally been in the NHL? His reaction looked like a vet after that last goal.
  21. Smart, mature move by Price, calling Subban off when Nash bumped him. A PP is more important than a statement at that point.
  22. The 900k removed by waiving Kaberle, is it taken off the total of his cap hit or remaining on his cap hit? If it's total it takes 900k of 4.5m If it's remaining it's 900k of 768k roughly, which would mean no hit for Kaberle, at this point. I'm honestly not sure how it works. Anyone?
  23. While Bouwmeester is a veteran in the NHL, you cannot expect him to perform like anything other than a rookie in the playoffs. He has never been in the playoffs, he has no playoff experience. Let's not lose sight of that.
  24. TSNBobMcKenzie: Re: waivers providing flexibility. I'm told MTL doesn't plan on demoting Kaberle if he clears but will have ability to do so if necessary. Looks like he's not going to the AHL, just doing this for cap flexibility. Looks like MB might be going after a player or 2 at the deadline the would require cap space.
