  1. Didn't see this happening at the end of the 2nd. We're like 3rd period kings this season.
  2. Think your not taking in account thats 3 breakaways and 4? 5? 2-on-1's we;ve given up because we're obviously tired.
  3. Last PP, twice they had all pressure coming down the left wing and they skated it in the zone and dumped it in the right corner. Why not just give to puck away in the neutral zone?
  4. Bob McKenzie saying people close to the Bruins saying deal is pretty much done. Iginla for Bartkowski, Khoklachev and Boston's 1st.
  5. Bob McKenzie saying Calgary may be using Boston to leverage PIT/LA/CHI. Sounds like the deal is close.
  6. Iginla a healthy scratch tonight for Calgary. A sign a trade is close for him?
  7. Clowe's price will go down to a 2nd, and a prospect. Right now all sellers have a huge price-tag on their players. It's common sense, if they want the player earlier, their gonna pay for it. I have a feeling is we make any moves at or near the deadline, Leblanc is gone. We're pretty good down the middle with Pleks, DD, Eller and possibly Galchenuyk all capable of being our top 3 centers. Leblanc's talents would be wasted on this team at center as he would only slot in at the 4th line center, 3rd at best with injuries. We're more in need of a natural winger than we are wasting talent on the bottom lines. Look at Vancouver last year, they saw Hodgson was going to be a top-2 center, but there was no room on their team, so they traded him for a big, young, physical winger they needed. I think we should do the same with Leblanc.
  8. Price confirmed in tonight. CanadiensMTL: Carey Price will start against the Bruins. Any other lineup changes will be game-time decisions.
  9. Price stole this one. Too bad the rest of the team couldn't help him out. I would like to know why the only time we had players at the net was when the puck was either covered or not there.
  10. We're playing softer hockey every game since Prust was hurt. Need him back badly.
  11. To sell the future for a chance now is irresponsible. To do nothing when a chance is presented to you is irresponsible. Nobody wants us to jeopardize the future for a chance at the cup now. At the same time to not make moves to give us a better chance is just as bad. What if we make it to the 3rd round and lose because we didn't secure depth or go out on a lack of scoring/ Simple moves that could up our chance from little to slim could mean a lot. We're one of the top 6 teams in the league this year and we're going to be ok with going out in the first round? Pittsburgh is going all-in because in 3 years they won't be contenders, as early as next year, with Malkin/Crosby/Letang contract coming up. I suspect at least one of those will not be on that team in 3 years, due to the roughly 25m just those 3 will command. With Fleury in the mix your looking at around 30m of the 60m cap being used on those 4 players. EDIT: Just wanted to add by MB not doing much of anything this year it'll be a case of "Casey at bat." We should be taking this chance nearly as seriously as one in a couple of years.
  12. If he didn't put up those points in the first series, then it was entirely possible they wouldn't of made it to the second round. I guess that somehow doesn't count?
  13. CanadiensMTL: Michel Therrien vient de confirmer que Halpern joue ce soir avec Moen et Dumont/Coach confirmed that Halpern will play with Moen and Dumont.
  14. Whitney is just as bad as Kaberle is defensively this year. Been watching him out here and it may be the coaching, as everyone constantly forgets their assignments, but he's no better. I don't want Whitney, just another Kaberle.
  15. Guess someone forgot everyone raving in the streets when we made that deep playoff run because Gomez was playing good. I also think your not looking at Briere's numbers. 2 of the last 3 times he's been in the playoffs he's scored over a point per game. Unlike Gomez, there's nothing in his stats sheet that points to a decline in production. He had one big year, and ever since then he's been averaging over 50 pts per season, unlike gomez who's stats dropped each and every year.
  16. Briere is a playoff beast, averaging 1 PPG in the playoffs. I wouldn't mind having him. Would look great on Pleks - Gionta's line.
  17. MB has to do something. Even if we're not selling the farm for this year's cup, to not make any significant moves would also be a mistake. While we aren't one of the top-4 favorites for the cup this year, we're far from out of it. MB has to make some moves to at least get us deep in the playoffs. It's irresponsible to sell off all of our building blocks for a chance of a cup this year, but it's also irresponsible to not do anything and pass up on a chance to win this year as well. While all his move to date have been good moves, we have ourselves in the conversation for the cup. To not entertain that would be just as bad as going all-in (Which is what I think Pittsburgh is doing this year).
  18. I'm not sure we want the unnecessary flak Torres brings. While he could help us, I think he will hurt us more. We're trying to cut down a penalties and we need to as our PK is horrible. Torres is a player, I think, would cost us games because of his undisciplined play.
  19. My take on this is if he's playing hurt, his number this season drop his value. Seems to me like a good trade to make, while his value is low, if MB is making a trade for the future and not just a rental. After the season, he gets his shoulder fixed and we have a 55pts per season player for cheap. As long as we don't give up impactful roster players for Clowe, it's win/win. He plays until he needs surgery and next season we have a 100% Clowe.
  20. If we're giving up a roster player for Morrow, the the additional cost is going down. If we give up roster player, White seems to me to be the one to go, especially now we picked up Halpern. Young guy, who doesn't really have a spot in our roster as it sits now. If it is White, then it's going to be an additional 2nd, or a veteran(Moen/Armstrong) and a 3rd. Could throw Weber in there too, if Dallas is interested. We will have too many roster players right now and it's going to come down to trade or waiver and possible lose them. If Moen/Armstrong/White get waived, then their gone, I guarantee it. Bourque - Pleks - Gionta Patches - DD - Gally Chucky - Eller - Ryder Prust - Halpern - Morrow Moen, White, Armstrong Markov - Emelin Gorges - Subban Boullion - Diaz Kaberle, Weber Price - Budaj 25 players officially on the roster when we're only allowed to have 22. Just as well to try to trade one of those who would be sent down instead of losing them for nothing. Only way to get around it, without losing a player to waivers, would be to send Chucky and Gally down and I doubt that will happen, especially since that will mean Chucky is gone until next year.
  21. Yeah the box that opened to create pressure was the way to go. Not sure why he's not looking at tapes from last year for the PK, as it clearly was the only thing working last season. This Halpern pickup is also going to help because of his ability to win the faceoff on the PK. A won draw is a good chance that the puck is going down the other end of the ice and 10-15 seconds gone from the PK.
  22. Halpern is a better 4th line center than White. Plus with the ice-time distribution MT has the team on, Halpern will enjoy a bit more ice-time. He's averaging 9:09 with the Rangers, while every regular 4th line player is averaging more time on our 4th line, White being the lowest at 9:32. Armstrong is averaging over 11:07 and Moen is averaging 11:45. If we can get 11 minutes out of Halpern, that will mean less ice-time for our top-3 centers and should result in more effort per shift. I'm really liking this pickup. Gives us our faceoff ace, not a huge size at center, but good defensively. Plus this adds another center that can pull a regular shift on the PK, ease down on Pleks PK minutes.
  23. He was part of our team the year we made the run to the conference finals. If I remember right he was hurt in the 7th game against Boston in the first round and didn't play in a Canadien's uniform since. Either way when I heard he was on waivers I was hoping we would pick him up. Great faceoff guy, we need a faceoff guy that can win those need-to-win faceoffs . Great pickup.
