  1. One critique when Oil traded Petry was that (by Oiler blogger), he has a nice shot but refuses to use it often enough (but he same shots/gm with Oil as Markov had last year). With Habs he had 5g on 50 shots, which is awesome shooting%; but can he do that (or close to that) for full year? (off in left field, I see Yannick Weber had 11g for 9.4% shooting for Canucks, if Petry could match that, it would be sweet!)
  2. More curious how Gregoire, Lehkonen, Scherbak, Vejdemo look, than the try-outs do (assume all are highly unlikely to amount to anything). Does Lehkonen still look like a 12 year old?
  3. And we all like Petry & Beaulieu offensive "potential", but between them they average 6g/82gms. So if Markov's production isn't there or drops off; we gotta pray Petry &/or Beaulieu starts burying a few more frickin pucks. Or maybe Pateryn's big shot will be the offensive weapon to put on the PP point?
  4. 29lbs heavier than last year. Well, we all know what Pacioretty did once he filled out and at that size Scherbak will be less likely to get run over as a young pro or pushed off puck as Beaulieu has been, who needs to add strength and bit more mass wouldn't hurt him neither.
  5. Come on, Scott had total of 7g in 4 years at university and still made it to play 274 NHL games (and score a whooping 5g).
  6. Don't worry, I would guess very very unlikely Bergevin will give him a call. But, is an 'interesting' option (and is little going on at the moment Big Bird) and like I say again the reaction would be off the charts by some Anti-AK46ites. Habs simply need more goals and unlikely Kassian will light it up a whole lot more than Paranteau did.
  7. John Scott is a big boy also; but cant play hockey at NHL level. Lets hope McCarron's freakish size isn't his best asset and he actually can (given time of course) skate and shoot at pro tempo. No Montreal locals on here who attend these camps?
  8. Leaf blogger has him listed as cheap free agent option. Noting he would be interested in 1 yr low cap hit salary just to get back. (true? or bit of fantasy?) With without Kovalev he averaged 21.1goals/82games in NHL, 13g/yr in KHL. And seems, like I said before, are many who hate him for not meeting their own lofty perception of what he should be. Do people care how Kessel got his 25-35 goals for $8m/yr and that did nothing in 40-50 games. So if AK46 gets 15+g for $1-2m, would be good value wouldn't it be? .
  9. Yes I know many (and I) who did stupid immature stuff in early-mid 20s. But if he came back, it would be a hoot to see crazy over the top reaction from some who constantly love to use hindsight drafting and hate him because he was chosen at 10th.
  10. So a guy with 400NHL games 205lb, 30 year old RW who averages 21.2g & 45.7pts/year. What is that worth in today's market? What is with the drunk bit, are you insinuating he is an alcoholic? Well even better then, considering his production and if get him in rehab, he could be a 30g 55pts RWer?
  11. Cant argue against better info can you? Just evolution of the sport. LIke goons who are almost all gone and many said will always need them and important part of game. But are the Parros-John Scott's gonna be missed? Not one bit!
  12. Will be another trade by Habs...happy! (got 8 NHL d-men, likely gotta trade one before the fall, especially with Barbarino just signed also)
  13. Habs don't have cap room to fit contract in. So would need to do your trade + make another deal off-loading another player. Starts to get a bit much..no?
  14. Main thing is, can he score more than 5 goals? If so he is an upgrade.
  15. Cant say am sad that he is off the market, maybe would of been a good fit, but old and slowing isn't he?
  16. Was the 'stupid' bit of contract a guaranteed part of price to attract him to Buffalo in first place? Or do the Sabres see some benefit to this structure of deal?
  17. And is that taboo normally for a prospect?
  18. Habs simply need more offense, if Sharp does that, I am fine with centres as are. If added a Backes or Koivu at centre might be a good idea, but would be frickin costly. And if you think Habs mgmt. haven't done their homework on roster options I think you be wrong. So if has failed to please you, what was the easy move they so obviously failed to make? Trade Scherbak, McCarron, Gallagher, Galchenyuk, Beaulieu, 1st picks is where a centre upgrade would start with. Which top prospects/top picks you want to part with? Or you one of those who want to try to bundle & trade mid-quality assets for an all-star I suppose?
  19. dlbalr, If Lehkonen is attending development camp, what is reason that Reway isnt?
  20. Got a soft spot for Markov and hope he retires a Hab. Even if slows a bit and is more a 3rd pairing guy in 16-17 season.
  21. Not a big Ward fan, but haven't followed nor noticed him much. I think he is a much older Pelly isn't he and playoff performer like Briere was eh...and how did that trade play out?
  22. Hey, there are super NHLers who never made Canada National team and also many who make those teams who then never amount to anything above that. I think easy to say that politics play a big part in national teams roster make up. (Czech Olympic team of old timers is perfect example)
  23. Loved the Steve Simmins Kessel Hot-Dog blog...what a maroon! Only thing funnier was an American dude ripping Simmins post and Leafs irrelevance for past 50 years.
