the Wideman trade is to get an extra draft pick. I do not think he is in the Habs plans with Clague and Niku on the team (they are better) and with some D prospects that may surprise next season (Norlinder, Harris) The Oilers need help on D and Chiarot should fetch a king's ransom
-
Then here are my four (4) "rebuilding" trades for the Habs to get: * another 1st round draft pick * another 2nd round pick * two other 3rd round pick * a forward prospect #1 To Edmonton: Ben Chiarot (LD $3.5M/1y) + SalaryCap relief to make it work for the Oilers To Montreal: Raphaël Lavoie & 1st2022 =>Edmonton solidifies cup chances #2 To New York Rangers: Tyler Toffoli (RW $4.25/3yr) To Montreal: Filip Chytil (LC $2.3M/2yr) + 2nd2022 => Rangers improve core forward group, make room for center prospects #3 To Nashville: Wideman To Montreal: Benning => Predators improve over Benning at the same cap hit #4 To Las Vegas: Kulak (LD $1.85M/1yr) + cap relief to make it work for the Knights To Montreal: Martinez(LD $5.25M/3yr) + 3nd2022 => Vegas get a depth LD, cap room for when Eichel is ready to play and get rid of an aging D on a bad contract => Alec Martinez can use Weber's spot, or (more likely) retire a Hab on LTIR. If he can play, he can be a #4D

I thought you would get a kick out of this: -
is there any chance Habs could make this trade? To Toronto: * Jeff Petry (34yr, $6.25M->2025) To Montreal: * TJ Brody (31yr, $5,0M ->2024) * Topi Niemela (RD drafted #64 in 2020) I believe Toronto improves its D, if Petry can find his form. I think he would help the Leaf's chances to win at least one playoff round Habs get a top-4 D at a lesser cap and term and a RD prospect. In the short-term, fills Weber's spot (better than Savard) although from LD. If this one can be done, it opens the way for other trades

Pezzetta was already on the ice, he protected his face from the crosscheck that was coming. This game, he played physical without getting a ad penalty. Petry's penalty was dumb: lost his helmet, stopped playing (again, and stared at the ref for a long time) then realized he was out of position and took the penalty. I have less patience for a 4th liner fringe player like Paquette who was MIA and didn't bring any energy; and that is before talking about Armia who was useless. I have more criticism against those two than Pezzetta... but I am just a troll now, what do I know... right -
Ok, let's have fun with this. To trade: Toffoli $7.9M ($4.25) = great value Armia $1.4M ($3.4M) = bad contract Petry $5.7M ($6.3M) = bad contract, good for cup contending team like Oilers Chiarot $0.8M ($3.5M) = surprised on the low market value, good for cup contending team like Oilers Wideman $3.9M ($0.75M) = surprised on the high market value, great value to a team like Coyotes New core, including some BAD contracts and some GOOD contracts: Drouin $2.0M ($5.5M) - Dvorak $3.4M ($4.45M) - Gallagher $7.2M ($6.5M) Hoffman $4.1M ($4.5M) - Suzuki $4.8M market value ($7.875M starting in 2022) - Anderson $1.9M ($5.5M) Lehkonen $4.0M ($2.3M) - Evans $1.6M ($0.8M) - Ylonen? or Caufield $0.1M ($0.1M)? Pezzetta $---M ($0.75M) - Poehling $---M ($0.75M) - Dauphin $---M ($0.75M) Edmundson $3.7M ($3.5M) - Savard -$0.9M ($3.5M) Romanov $0.8M ($0.9M) - <<NEW RD>> Niku $---M ($0.75M) - Clague $---M ($0.761M) Price $2.2M ($10.5M) Allen $3.1M ($2.9M)

I may be enjoying being a troll too much... -
"Taking overage center Rem Pitlick (76th) in the third round may have been too high for our taste, but the kid led the USHL in scoring and plays far bigger than his 5’9 frame would indicate." https://www.thedraftanalyst.com/nhl-draft-2016/report-cards/ He is now listed at 5'11'' 196lb. "One season ago, center Rem Pitlick was considered a dark horse to become a permanent fixture on the Nashville Predators roster. Pitlick, who was once one of the organization’s top prospects, was claimed on waivers by the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, ending his five-year run with the Predators organization." https://www.nashvillepost.com/sports/preds/why-did-the-predators-sour-on-rem-pitlick/article_6e573c26-265a-11ec-8163-17f6991d309a.html

GDT Game #34 Habs vs Panthers 1:00 EST Jan 1 2022

I didn’t at the Beginning of the season, but I was against hailing him the first line RW against so many other proven RWs that deserved it more -
Again, I disagree. Drouin is similar as Weber and Price in how he shows his emotions: dry but on the ice, he has been backchecking and positionally sound. He is not physical but finishes his checks Wideman is more the opposite of Romanov than Drouin
-
Not this season. Drouin is as constant as Tatar was

Ducharme said on the daily scrum that Romanov and Evans will not play today or tomorrow because they did not have their equipment in time. I am looking forwards to seeing Vejdemo, Niku and Dauphin against the Bruins. I hope they can hold their own. Drouin has been the most consistent forward on the team. I hope he continues tonight Go Habs Go!!! -

☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ vultures! watch out! vultures! ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ It Weber was not injured and Price did not have to seek substance abuse treatment, the team would have contended for a cup this year. All this revisionist list of bad contracts, Gallagher is burn out, Toffoli is overpriced, etc. etc is opportunistic at best Habs hit a wall after demonstrating lots of heart and excellent execution. They are new in rebuild mode due to the catastrophic number of injuries and off-ice issues. But the team that went to the finals what much better than people give it credit for. ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ vultures! watch out! vultures! ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️ ☠️
