  1. 2nd period is usually Habs best Go Habs Go!
  2. yes, because you can protect up-to 7. For the longest time I've belived Tatar would walk, if I could I would rather sign him than Armia or Lehkonen. I would negotiate and sign Danault, I would not let him test the UFA market, so that is another protected player. Players with "Seattle" besides them are those not resigned before the expansion draft or signed but not protected
  3. that is what I was implying, which UFAs and RFAs would be resigning and my potatohead estimate of the salary
  4. Did a quick check on what the salaries may look like next year if we sign the RFAs and UFAs to a favorable deal. I also pre-selected whom I think may be protected. NOt a definite analysis, but I hope good enough for a discussion What do you think?
  5. Habs kept the prospects on @tomh009's list beyond the trade deadline. Only traded low draft picks and managed to improve the club within the cap Good Job Habs!!!
  6. Habs may play two rounds if you believe these odds I say they can play 3 rounds if the team is fully healthy
  7. I prefer the Habs going into the playoffs on a roll and full of confidence they can beat anyone. Steady cruising in forth spot until the end of the seaon
  8. regaining some rythm, scoring again. Holding a playoff spot and keeping it for when the team has a full roster and can clubber other teams
  9. I also thought he could be a #4 Looking at his stats, it looks like Mike Reilly is better than him and Mike would not crack the Habs top 4 But Gustafsson is better than Mete. I guess he is the one that replaces Mete and Merril is the one that can share games with Kulak once Chiarot is healthy
  10. Failed to get top-4 LD: agree we will probably hear him say later today that the asking price was too high or that no top-4 LD was available. Either way, I prefer he didn't sell the farm for a top-4 LD it is not like we are BOS/TBL/WSH betting the farm for a legit shot at the cup
  11. he tend to shoot a lot and has better success than Mete had He is an established NHLer, than can play lots of minutes but needs to play with a good RD Not a top-4 fot a fill-in for Chiarot until the playoffs
  12. MB kept his prospects and high draft picks. Added depth that will need to clear COVID protocol before playing and be available to play a bit before Chiarot is ready to play. It does not move the needle in the short term, but it seems the gamble is to have: Edmudson-Petry Chiarot-Weber Merryl-Romanov Gustaffson (that may come fill-in for an injuredtop-4 LD if needed)
  13. an NHLer that can play lots of minutes and shots a lot and can hold hte 4th D spot on the 2nd pair with Weber until Chiarot comes back Edmundson-Petry will play 1st pair minutes Merryl will pickup the PK minutes from Guftasson So, yeah. 😶
  14. I share the same opinion on Mete Merill seems like a perfect 3rd pair LD for the Habs. Will be a good player to have for Brook and/or Fleury when they come up
  15. when I was writing that, I thought the same as you. But the team already has 13 picks for this year and 8 next. If we can get high picks in 2022, that would be a better return IMHO
  16. this year is not the year to be loading up on draft picks. It is worse than ever without scouting. Eligible players have hardly played and I am guessing that beyond the 1st round, there will be lots of disappointing picks I do not want the Habs to load up on 20+ picks past the first round and hope they can hit some homeruns.
  17. yeah, I know... 🙄 I am guessing that away from Montreal he would do better
  18. I agree on all of these except for Danault. I would trade them all and package with out 2021 first round pick and an average prospect for a top 4 LD, but who would trade their top-4 LD for our junk ?
  19. but with the firing of the coaches and the signing of Stall, he seems to be more invested in winning now; he may be motivated to make a trade today on one side, I hope he does because it would be great to see Weber, Price, Petry and to a lesser degree Perry, Staal and Edmundson, win a cup in Montreal. on the other side, I think it is smarter to roll the dice with the current club but to trade upcoming UFAs and load on picks in 2022 (after this year). the draft this year is too risky to bet on players who have hardly played.
